In Benidorm now and just had the pie n mash absolutely amazing 10 out of 10 for me , Iv been in Dundee 51 years moved up from London to Livingston in 1971 then Dundee in 72 I always visit Manzes in Peckham wen I’m down in London and this pie mash n liquor is as good as there’s , so thanks for sharing this video, all the best Danny 👍🏻👍🏻
LEE mince meat pie is nowhere as good as STEAK PIE and REAL GRAVY certainly no VINEGAR.but the MASH LOOKS GOOD.The MINCE Looks GOOD but NOT as a PIE. YOUR LAGER Is CHEMICAL THE BEST LAGER is SHHELLION made in SCOTLAND not sure my spelling is right.

This was once a London staple, food for the workers perhaps it still is. My mother was from Lewisham and she swore that this was a almost daily meal. The stewed eels always put me off as nice as the pie may have been. It always has to be liquor and NOT gravy. The outtakes at the end had me in stitches.

I sat in Manze's once, and a local guy showed me the best way of eating it. You flip the pie upside down, and make a slit in the bottom.....you then lash the vinegar inside the pie. Its the best technique trust me! The lid of the pie becomes moist by the end too.....spot on!
Good episode today Lee! The outtakes were almost as entertaining as your vlog. You have a lot of patience my friend! I really appreciate your work for your channel. It is always entertaining and educational. Our family is from the Lancaster area (Thornton-Cleveleys) and when we visit they like to take us to local farm shops/restaurants and locally sourced restaurants. @@PaulCowcher my Mrs is actually from Kent but her grandparents were from London and she has fond memories of visiting pie and mash shops as a child, hence vey forced to try it 😂.
Pet hate of mine, potato being served using an ice cream scoop. For pie and mash, it should be dolloped on the plate with a spoon. And have you noticed that in a lot of places, the plates have got a huge rim? It did rather look like a school dinner
Lee, that pie and mash looked good until you poured the liquor over it. Always been gravy for me, but not many places give you the option. Some mushy peas would've been a good addition. An 8 from me. 👍
Pastry looked good. Never know why people put gravy, liquor or whatever wet stuff on pastry...it goes soggy. Scoops of spud though-big no...I can smell school dinners just looking at it.

When I first moved to La Palma, here in the Canaries, many places were 'cash only'. Over the last few years, things have changed, and most places will now also accept cards.
Those retakes had me in stitches 😂great to know about the pie & mash shop will give it a try when we go to Benidorm again it looked delicious 😋 really good value for money. Keep showing those retakes Lee great to have a laugh 😂
Yep, spoon and fork! Looked really nice though and so much better than the last time I had it which was from a shop in London which Lee has been to. They deliver it to a cafe near where I live, 40 minute drive from London but it isn’t the same as eating it in there.
Benigreat value for money. Food looked spot on, as a northerner, I don't get much pie and mash bar homemade, love it, that looked top dollar too. Pint of Amstel 1.5 euro too. Looked great food. 3.1415926/10 for me.😁
OMG Lee, that was soooo funny at the end with the truck(lorries) honking😅good that you went from being frustrated to laughing at the absurdity! I used to work in NYC on Wall Street (lived on Long Island) and believe me, it was a lot worse noise wise, not to mention people screaming out “eff u”! I’m hoping to get to London later on this year to have a look round and do some videos myself and I’m deafly going to try the pie mash I’ve never had it I know you might say that’s a bit bad, but I’ve never tried it. We always stay opposite there at Halley apartments.Never tried that establishment though.Its usually something different on each visit.However,just up that street,3 minutes away is Sonder bar,which I;'ve recommended before to you. Not sure if you review mixed grills,but if you fancy one.thats the place.👍
If you go to sonder bar try the garlic bread with cheese starter with mixed grill and a gallon of cool beer to wash them meat sweats away.dont forget Keep your garlic intake up,keep them damn chinches away. 🧄🍺🍽️
The price is right. Having said that, you get what you pay for. I go for drinks and chase it down with a pie and mash. Didn’t know rush hour traffic was Ambiance. Cash only at this price is understandable. 10 seems very generous, but Lee you must like it a lot.
Pie n mash and bubble are on my bucket list! That looked decent and I’m puzzled why so many negative replies-maybe not traditional enough for some Londoners, but if you enjoyed it then that’s what matters!
