@@cosmosisrose well, it was an abusive relationship, but the reason I call it a two person cult is because it wasn’t just our relationship that was toxic. It was all based around a belief system/religion in which the other person was a higher authority. I was the follower and I had to believe and follow what they said about God. If not I was treated awful and had horrible things told me to. The other person took what certain people of faith were saying and twisted it to their own narrative to get control over me. Does that make sense?

Especially the way the mom has these realizations and the daughter has a completely different one but thinks she's on the same page. Creating profound ideas out of a misunderstood exchange has often been my experience. These things might have never happened to you but I don't think you can say someone's full of shit because you didn't have a similar experience.
