Really depends on what you want to do, crawl, bash, race, etc... With RC you absolutely get what you pay for but some of the cheaper HBX cars on Amazon aren't bad for entry level bashing.

I feel with rock crawling you definitely want to spend a little more on the entry level trucks. Nothing worse than spending money on a truck, wanting to conquer an obstacle, and being unable to do so because it is just not really a good RC. If your budget is super low, you can't really go wrong with the Danchee Ridgerock. But if you want to make sure you have a truck that can do it all and is well built, I'd recommend an Element Enduro SE. Those are larger trucks though at 1/10 scale. You can always start small with a 1/24 truck like the SCX24 and FCX24, those are good for indoors and outdoors and don't take up a lot of space.
