After stumbling onto an illegal mining operation on my property, I thought I would do some exploring of the 100+ acres that make up my mineral claim property. I found all sorts of evidence of old workings including an actual underground gold mine!

I have been trying to convince my husband to go on a long weekend in an RV and go to old Civil War/Revolutionary War battlefields (to try to find bullets lodged in trees, which as of the late 70's/early 80's, my dad did regularly on our summer trips...always had his handy pocket knife, lol), or caves like Mammoth Cave or Ruby Falls, etc.; maybe even go to Diamond Crater and find a diamond! He's a no-go so far, but I think I want to go so badly because this is what my dad did with us when we were kids...all about nature, camping, taking us out to the Everglades to watch meteor showers or comets, and just letting us know how amazing nature is, and the fact that its beauty is all around us all the time, day and night, and it is so incredibly beautiful if you just take the time to look. I miss you, Daddy!

Dan Hurd, I know this is off topic but I wanted to say thank you. I've been watching your journey pushing through your surgery and getting back to doing something that you love and it inspired me to do the same. Just recently I had vascular bypass surgery and because of watching your recovery ahead of my own it inspired me to get up and get moving. My saying is if Dan Hurd can do it so can I. Dan, I have spent a good part of my 32 years in the mining and exploration business crawling into rat holes like those you found (and many bigger.) Be very careful about the conditions of the back (ceiling,) An overzealous sampler banging a vein can get themselves hurt or worse PDQ. Another thing to remember is that standing water and rotting timbers consume oxygen. Not a deal in those short adits, but something to keep in mind. Oh, and don't step in puddles that you don't know the depth of. Some of them can be hundreds of feet deep.
@Lettuce1
@Lettuce1 2 года назад
The puddle could be addressed with the good old stick, but great word of advice!
@Jez3134
@Jez3134 2 года назад
Is it true to try not to disturb standing water as they could contain and release harmful gasses?
@peachpixiedust
@peachpixiedust 2 года назад
I need more info on the puddles that's so scary and haunting
@Jez3134
@Jez3134 2 года назад
@@peachpixiedust standing water absorbs contaminants. If you've ever seen chemicals boil, the gasses can be heavier than the air we breath, causing them to fall to the floor. Pretty scary seeing a dark cloud just floating about the ground. You might not notice anything walking through it as you're passing through undisturbed environment but on your way back all those disturbed toxic gasses have come out from low areas, the water and swirled through the air. By then it's too late. Mines also fill up with water naturally, what looks like a puddle may be hundreds of meters deep.

Maybe post a comment instead of a reply? I believe it’s all about expensive equipment and owning mineral rights to a property. You can’t just go out in the woods and start digging, in America at least… He’s referring to crushing rocks up and sampling them at various points in the video, I think this is most likely a years or decades long project. He may have been doing this hobby for 25 years!

I would like to remind everyone unless you really know what you are doing and know a lot about mines and your local mines. Don't enter Abandoned mineshafts are very dangerous. Knowing what they mine can also save your life. Allways make sure you have know what the air is like not only could you fall to your death you can also suffocate.

The Annunaki will show up & jump his claim for the hidden gold. On the way out, being overloaded, their saucer will crash, the MOD will come in, declare the area off limits, haul away the smashed saucer & bodies & Dan gets the Roswell style warning & is forced to leave his claim as the MOD fences the area off & starts a man made landslide burying the crash site forever.

So I had an interesting idea for agate hunting. Do you think using a UV light would light them up? They would definitely absorb much different light than host rock so they should theoretically light up like a Christmas tree
@paulcragg1315

Some opaline silica and chalcedony,but not all fluoresces under UV. It would be worth a try.

only if chipped might work as it has alayer off host rock and mudd on the surface. I have plenty of aggat here laying around and a UV light for testing hotelrooms and car AC leakadge

@@MikeBaxterABC the agate itself doesn't contain anything that would illuminate under UV that goes for short wave and long. You might get a reaction to something that the agate is attached to but not the agate itself.

This is so fun to watch. We have two contiguous properties which are old staked/named claims in Colorado where we have numerous shaft gold mines from the turn of the 1900s. Quartz tailings are all over. I’ve always got my eye on the ground looking for that particular color in the quartz!

Mr. Hurd, thank you so much for your videos. I'm a nature bunny, and have (until recently) always been out hiking, camping, exploring, and enjoying our wondrous planet. Due to illness, I can no longer enjoy exploring the pacific northwest as I once did, and your videos help me enjoy, what I can no longer enjoy personally. Thank you. Wow, stumbled across your channel. What a great amount of fun you are having! I'd love to try and learn more about this type of stuff. I currently just use a Metal detector and explore old run down places that nobody goes to anymore and old park areas that were once active in the late 50's- 60's and no longer accessible with a lot of hill climbing and walking.

I see why you call this your dream claim. It has everything! That water is so blue coming down the river, it just looks amazing. There is quartz everywhere on this claim. People have been through this site 100x over, and you can still find huge chunks of gold and lots of smaller stuff. Can't wait to see what you find here. Love the videos and your claims are awesome.
