Her video has made me realize i might also have it, when in highschool i managed a 3.5 gpa, but after i got to college it fell apart, i couldn't focus in classes and i failed out, there's a lot more but i don't want to make this comment really long, i need to go get tested

Update, i talked to my mom about this last night and it turns out i was diagnosed as a child, they put me on Ritalin which apparently made me an asshole so they took me off of it, I'm amazed no one ever told me this

Her talking about how it was easier in basic schooling but things got tougher in adulthood hit hard, I’m in process of getting my diagnosis and it’s exactly as she says. I used to be able to handle school pretty well, sometimes I’d ask to stay home to finish a paper or work but I usually had everything in and did well, well enough to be enrolled in a nursing course until oh god I could not handle it at all. I didn’t know I had even been tested for ADHD until I made quip while watching Big Bang Theory at the “my mother had me tested” joke asking my own if I’d been tested, I had in grade 2 but after some testing they figured I’d be fine minimal assistance, and I was, but then after high I lost those supports and just thought was a lazy failure of a person. I’m really thankful that I’m finally getting help at 28 and also that my mom has been supportive and advocating for me too, it’s hard going from self sufficiency to admitting you need help with basic things, I’ve cried from relief after almost all my appointments from not only having explanations but also having professional people believe me and say yeah your probably au and have ADHD, we’ll put you on the wait list fora psychiatrist.

I was diagnosed with ADHD as a child and have since gotten better at dealing with it seeing people learning about it actually makes me happy because the more people learn about it the greater chances of someone catching it early and getting the help they need so they don’t struggle down the road and the public learning how our brains tick so they understand I don’t get distracted on purpose 😅

I think the main thing thats stopping me from trying to get diagnosed for something is that there's always a chance I don't have it and my brain is just pathetic and there's no reason other than it being my own fault and I just have to fix it myself. But also I hate being treated like a child and a lot of ppl I know would immediately start treating me like i am a child who needs help as if I am not very much independent

i got my diagnosis and my meds and i take them before going to work because i deal with very violent intrusive thoughts and the pills just make them less audible, i mean i still get distracted so it hasnt fully fixed my issue (i think i need a higher dosage but i keep going "meh"... i may ask for a higher dosage at my next visit) but im no longer swinging between extreme negative emotions (these thoughts only happen when im not mentally focused on something which is something my job doesnt require me to be, i can basically be on autopilot for most of it and my mind takes advantage of that). my younger sister already had her diagnosis before me but refuses to get the meds because of the negative stories shes heard about them, it has her paranoid. My older sister got tested after i did and now shes got her own meds as well as her daughter. Im STILL trying to convince my mom to go in and get a diagnosis.

If you could think your way out of it, or will your way out, you probably would have already by now. If you consider you might have it then best see someone about it who is knowledgeable enough on adhd (don’t go to any old therapist as some have view biased views). At the end of the day it’s based on symptoms. If you experience the symptoms, and there isn’t better explanations like iron deficiency or bipolar, then sweet welcome to the club. No one will give you a brain scan or blood test and say ‘see you actually don’t have it’ as this literally isn’t possible. Further, if someone says you don’t have it and they haven’t done clinical training and research on the subject plus clinically interviewed you over multiple session, then don’t listen to them as they don’t know what they are talking about (yes even family members, mine call me lazy still to this day smh)

i’ve had this suspicion that i have adhd or add for a while now. it started with learning my best friend has adhd. then a few years pass and i look up symptoms for fun and think “huh i kinda relate to that, but that doesn’t mean i have it.” and then i see more and more adhd memes on my feed that i relate to. and then i watched ice cream sandwich’s videos. and when i watched jaiden’s video yesterday it was the tipping point. like i related to the majority of her experiences stated. so then i consulted my best friend again about the symptoms i related to, talked to my mom (who’s cool with it), and now i may or may not get diagnosed over summer :) what you said was true i think. if i actually do get diagnosed with it, then it’ll be a thing of like “OMFG IT ALL MAKES SENSE”

honestly i got my diagnosis after watching a youtuber who got their diagnosis. My younger sister had already been diagnosed and ive always known something wasnt right with me but i couldnt really figure out what. That video was what had me look into it and finally get mine. My older sister and niece went and got diagnosed too. now if i could just get my mother to do it, i have no doubt in my mind shes got some going on too.

I'm currently waiting on my test results for ADHD, but I've been peer-reviewed, so to speak, as an ADHD-haver by all my friends for years now. Also being autistic throws some wrenches into it because when asked about whether I struggle to remember things, I invariably said 'kinda, but I have a *system*". Yay for alarms to keep me on track, because otherwise time would be even harder to keep track of than it already is XD

I honestly think I am just like Jaiden I know I have formerly Asperger's now Autism and ADHD (I had a psychologist and psychiatrist tell me I had that and was on Delayed Release Adderall) I would literally I would spent days on remote where the only thing I did was lay on the couch in my apartment on my phone all day with the TV on. I got laid off so when I get a new job the first thing I will do with my shiny new employer-backed insurance is go to a psychologist

I was blessed with combined ADHD and at least me forgetting things is justified. I take Adderall and two other prescribed medications for it. The phrase, "it can't grow legs and walk away" is completely invalid with how much we lose track of things (they very much can ) jaiden just wouldn't let you and take a drink with all the jokes 😂

Oh yeah very organized, but I have not been that organized lately because I am very lazy to organize.. OK thank you for reading this lol
