Commenting because this channel deserves more views and engagement. Really interesting content and thanks for sharing. Had no idea those wafers were available.

Love it, it's like one of those 1970's badly voice dubbed Kung Fu moves. hehe Great content. :)

You are more likely to get a quality product on AliExpress than Amazon.

if you check the sellers and reviews, you often do. also getting support was way easier on aliexpress

I'm curious why regulations prevent the sale of these wafers in Japan.

It would actually be pretty cool to have a silicon wafer as a display piece

Next episode: Bonding one of the chips out and testing it :) ... What regulations in Japan will keep wafers from being sold to the general public?

Maybe because of concerns of industrial espionage or something o.O?

I got the same blue heating platform and it got a misplaced temperature sensor, it wraps around the screw post holding the heating element and displays incorrect temperature. When i put it in the correct position it works flawlessly. I also recommend to unscrew the holding clip

lol, I've seen these rosin applicators. It's quite an ingenious repurposing of a device which was made to smoke drugs in an e-cig.

The blue colour does NOT come from the colour of the film - it is caused by thin film interference.

Damn 37,50$ for some of these? I can get my hands on 20 of them costing around 5$ each 🙈 And I'm not even working in the semiconductor business :O

Why not simply flip it around, polish and and do it again, if one side is faulty/wasted, not needed.... whatever?
@Versette

There are very strict requirements of thickness, etc. After 1 process run, the wafer is "ruined" in the context of trying to do a second one Maybe for testing purposes, it would be ok But nothing more
