I was suprised that you did not remove the radiator for this job, given that the cooling system hoses were disconnected, etc - relly good video

I just bought back my old 1997 DSE , third time is the charm! 340,000kms on the clock and still on air springs, remarkably it’s in better shape than my 2010SC5.0 I’m glued to this series of videos keep up the good work, I’m going to dig into a leaking rear axle seal soon. BTW I don’t think many DSE p38 made it to Canada, mine is an import from Belgium

Anything air suspension you need Sam , Miessler in Germany has it. I just got a new compressor for mine with a 2 year warranty from them. From ordering it until it reached my door ( Leinster) was 28 hours. Unbelievable service. They even sent the relay ( free ) that is supposed to be changed when a new compressor goes in.

My old P38

Tip for you Sam, I had one of these trucks and loved it, shame they were never the 3.0l with more horses!!! Looking back even the TD 5 was a better unit ( I have TD5 D2 200 bhp now) The head on mine went due to the fan seizing up, rebuilt new head and all good. The engine was a cow to bleed coolant so I devised a little method. On the drivers side of the engine you'll see the 2 pipes going to the matrix, take the pipe nearest the block and cobble up a bleed valve using some 22mm copper pipe and fittings with a 15mm end feed air valve, it's at the top of the cooling system and you can get all the air out. Hope this helps, love the videos.

Have a look to see if the 6mm line from the top of the rad to the header tank is clear of debris, I had a situation where that blocked and the radiator had air in the top causing the water pump to “gas” then overheated. Oh also blew the top of the rad apart 😂

have to have some luck once in a while Sam - if that tensioner had given up at speed - you might have ended up with much more of a problem. Keep it up - I made a start on my L322 cam cover but have been scuppered for a couple of months by having a directional argument with my dog, resulting in a broken arm which is being pinned on Tuesday!!! Stay safe lol

Great video as ever, but personally I'd have used a pump with a metal impeller. The plastic ones get crack. Otherwise good.

You should be able to stop the viscous fan with a rolled up newspaper...

My first Rangie was a P plate 2.5DSE which I inherited from my Dad in 2002 - engine was gutless but did well for the era 😜 Big mistake - I’ve been addicted too and owned every model since 😂😂

I always think with wanky Rangie engines......why not chuck the rubbish engine away and replace it with a lovely Cummins 4 cyl...or a cummins 2.8 crate engine...and end up with a lovely car which will last another ten years...and at the end you can sell on the engine which is barely run in.

Be careful winding the engine backwards, itay jump a tooth and then your in the crap 😳
