As someone posted before, I believe this could be the memory setup related, try filling all the SIMM slots (with same modules), or move these to slots 1+2 or 3+4 (not 2+4 like now).

Hm, seems to be an Shuttle HOT 503 (the QC sticker and the white sticker on the BIOS chip under the AMIBIOS sticker make me think it is by Shuttle.) or something like that. Pretty sure it has the banks 0 & 1 interleaved which would mean the memory is probably right the way it is. My best guess is that there is some contact problem with the memory or some component around the CPU died due its heat. There are small tantal caps under the CPU as well. It seems to me that RAM was never taken out since 1994. So there might be corrosion in the SIMM socket itself (in this case there has to be some corrosion on the AT Power as well. Seems clean to me...) or more likely just a bad contact due non gold plated contacts.

I had exactly the same video card on my 486. It was a great card, and after I maxed out the memory, it could played everything I throwed at it. I even played Quake under Win95 with 48M of RAM and it was limited only by the AMD 5x86, even overclocked at 150MHz. I played Anno 1602, RA C&C, Heroes 2, Caesar, MAX, NFS Porsche, Starcraft, and I was the only one that used 1024x768 with 24bit color on Win95 desktop. On my opinion, it was almost on par with S2Trio PCI that I had on my Pentium when I upgraded.

There are 2 72 pins memory modules installed, so where is the problem? Btw till Athlon 64 / Core i memory controller was always part of chipset, so some chipsets could boot with only one module installed.

@@xsc1000 just read my comment, these 2 modules are on different banks, they need to be on the same bank. It's not like dual channel, with the 1st and 3rd slots being a channel. In doubt just check the user manual.

All i can say is my old 486 hates the POST tester and of course you may know old motherboards won't work properly without a functioning battery, which it could be, though in my experience they seem to work fine..but you never know :P otherwise contact cleaner in slots may solve issue, none the less a nice save! mine was just about to reach the solder joints but thankfully wasn't trace level..however i bought an entire PC just to save it and accidentally won it, it stays until i find case for K6 DOS PC :)

The problem with testing a system like this is that there are so many unknowns. All the parts and components should be tested verify that are in working condition. To test the parts you need have a good working computer test them in so that you can screen out defective parts. I wish you the best of luck in your adventure or nightmare!!

The POST codes are 12 13 00 (and NOT 13 12 00 13). Note that when you had the IDE controller, you got up to the bootloader (code 00) and the POST sequence stopped at 13 when you omited it. That mobo did not have any I/O onboard so it is to be expected. It want to boot but from where? Give it another multi I/O with IDE or maybe a SCSI controller. My guess is that there is the culprit, a bad IDE controller ior some conflict and the board is good. Try an ISA only one or change the card in other slot (swap it with the video card) because I found that some VLB controllers were picky when inserted in another VLB slots (I had one that booted only in MASTER VLB slot) and also that some are not well behaved when paired with certain chipset (I had one that I could never make to work on my computer but it worked - with DMA enabled - on another motherboard with the same chipset like it had).
@xsc1000

I highly doubt this is a Pentium with the FDIV bug. The FDIV-bugged ones are the earliest releases with the grey ceramic substrate and the golden top IHS. This version seems to be a replacement released after Intel agreed to give replacements to those who bought the FDIV-bugged ones. I could be wrong, though, but it really looks like a second iteration of the first Pentium generation (codenamed P54C)
@Troppa17
@Troppa17 11 месяцев назад
It has the FDIV bug. Just look the sSpec SX753 up. P5 66 MHz, P54C 90 & 100 MHz had the bug as well. The 'goldtops' came out around late 1993 / early 1994 to fix the heat issue via adding an heatspreader between CPU and heatsink. Every Pentium CPU with or without goldtop expect P54C 75 MHz (which came out already revised in October 1994) had the bug til December 1994.

Hello! I am a contributor to The Retro Web project and I was wondering about two things: 1. Do you still have this motherboard? 2. If you do, would you be willing to dump the BIOS of it for preservation purposes? This can be accomplished using software such as NSSI. Cheers!
