So Dome Romantik changed it's name to Dome Keeper... It's a super fun roguelike mining game where all you want to do is pillage the natural resources of an alien world for your own benefit but the native creatures just won't let you! This time I check out the updated demo and find a hidden relic!!

About Dome Keeper:
Dome Keeper is a roguelike mining game, where you go on a run to strip multiple planets of their minerals, while the native creatures furiously try to stop you. They come in waves, so you have to carefully consider your mining activities to return just in time to defend you dome. Greed can be deadly, information a viable tool for survival. Powerful upgrades will help you stay alive and be productive until you can move on to the next world.
Choose a unique dome that will shape your run. Each dome has different weapons, abilities and upgrade paths, each bringing their own challenges along.
Extract minerals and use them to improve your dome and yourself. Install shields, new weapons, or facilities to generate powerful fuel for your jetpack or even ammunition. Improve your mining abilities with stronger drills or innovative ways to retrieve minerals.
You'll meet many strange lifeforms as you progress through the worlds. They are as different as the worlds they live in, so you need to learn their tricks and focus to stay alive.

Wohoo, thanks a (metric) ton for playing again! Very smart to shred the artifacts for cobalt at that point. The teleporters sucking strength was a bit low, so it had trouble dealing with a bunch of stacked resources - but that's fixed now. And we'll definitely consider adding a hard hat at least for the engineer! :D

Just finished the game, HOPEFULLY we get an option to just explore / dig with no enemies, for some reason, its relaxing to just dig around :)

The difference between ingame time played , and your OBS recording time might be that ingame timer only counts when time is not stopped in the game (which it seems to be in the menu's and such)

I think the reason the portal wasn’t working during the mid game is because ,the 4 iron was a blocking each other from teleporting,cause for a resources to be teleported it needs to reach the centre of the portal first (based on observation)

He should have focused on getting the water so that he could upgrade the portal, since the congestion problem would have been solved by the ability to improve the rate at which it could process.

It looks sharper and shinier because the pixels are smaller and there are more “in-between” colors. Basically in the demo prerelease every time you opened the game they’d messed with the colors

The old demo had a bunch of different color palettes that it randomly switched between. I think this was because the dev saw he could do it in like three lines of code, so he did. It didn't look great though and I like it better with a consistent look.

So pro tip for the teleporter, carry it with you everywhere you go and deposit it near the ore you mine instead of bringing the heavy ore to the portal.... This way you dont need to invest anything in carry strength and can just invest everything in drill strength and defense. You can also coordinate between the lift and the portal... Either make the teleporter teleport you up and down and the lift work for resources, or make the teleporter gather resources as I mentioned above and use the lifts increased speed to help you fly back in time for the waves

I think you should upgrade the dome at the end of the rounds instead of the beginning. It's more effective to get an upgrade for yourself rather than the dome when the round starts

It looks like the portal got clogged- it has to pull things into the center to teleport them, but there was so much iron around and it didn't have the room to pull any one piece into the center.

That's right, it was a bit too weak to pull in resources when they got stacked. We cranked up the pull strength a ton now, maybe a bit too much :D

Also, he was using the portal wrong. He used it as an elevator (he always had to drag the resources to the main shaft, wasting a lot of time), when he should've been using it as a portable vacuum (always dragging it along when mining so it could've sucked up resources as he mined them and therefore prevented clogging).

In my opinion, upgrading the dome's durability is better than putting that much cobalt into healing since it not only permanently increases the dome's durability but also heals the dome a little.

I would also hold off with healing the dome until i maxed the amount of health, since healing is more of a percentage of max health rather than a set number

3:36 The percentage taken away should be 10% if only 0.9 damage is taken. If 9% of damage is taken away the decimal should be 0.91.

i'm not convinced that 0.9 is a multiplier. look at 4:46, speed is 0.3 after upgrading by 49%. they are just arbitrary numbers in units the game uses.

I believe it wasn't that fitting, if you think about it (in the sense of the word). I mean, what's so romantic (or maybe "quaint" would be a more fitting equivalent?) about A) Being in constant fear of those rather demonic-looking alien creatures destroying your dome and killing you B) You basically invading some random planet, exploiting all their resources and genociding those who just want to expel you as the intruder

Dome Dweller was also on the short list of possible new Names, as well as Dome Defender. But i think no matter what we'd have chosen, some people like it and some don't.

@@danyael777 it started as a pun on Dorfromantik, and keeping that didn't feel right. Romantik is also not part of the game, and if i'd ask people what game they'd expect "Dome Romantik" to be, most would say something different than an action mining game ;)

The teleporting appears to grab a certain number of resources and pulls it towards itself. If other things get in the way, they prevent the resource from going into the teleporter.

It looks like they've updated the game since this vid came out, the upgrade window has a different layout for me! I think I still prefer using the lift over teleporting items to the top, especially with how they changed the lift. It's slower than it used to be, but once it starts moving resources they can't be knocked out anymore!

The health meter should be dome shaped with a gradient (Green, yellow, red?) to show where on the dome the damage is. It shows up on the dome already., I'm no programmer. For lack of trying for sure. I admit my proposal seems more complicated than it initially appears. It would certainly alter the way the game is played now. Not big on the graphical update. I like that you can more readily tell the difference between resources,. That jump from VGA to SVGA, is a bit unsettling at first.

Atm it doesn't matter tho, the damage on the dome is just cosmetic - it doesn't matter where it is, the only thing that matters is the Dome's health pool It could show what direction attacks are coming from I guess, but that's pretty easy to just see without an indicator

You can shoot the rocks that the worms launch at you. It's easiest to take them out if you get the proper angle.

Not RCE but, I own and play both, and Mini Metro is better imho, they're both good games tho Mini Metro also plays well on tablet & mobile (where Mini Motorways isn't available atm) if that's a factor for you

Not a fan of the zooming in on things to highlight them, saying "look up in the sky" should be enough for me to look there and if I'd rather look somewhere else I should be able to. Especially since in this case, the zoom messed with the end game cinematic of whatever shot up into the sky and killed all the enemies. Zooming in forces the viewer to experience a jarring change of perspective where they can now see less of the content just to highlight something. If it's small or easy to miss I enjoy the zoom in, but I could tell the sky was full of monsters and it was definitely hilarious and worth pointing out in commentary, the zoom is too much though.

Please, please upgrade the portal, it gets clogged and has issues becsuse its not upgraded at all, plus, it's better to just get a self teleport and then get a tractor beam

Thai might be the most random question ever. I'm 18 years old from Greece and just finished my final year of school. Here in Greece we have exams that decide on what university you'll go to. If I succeed in this, I want to become a civil engineer but if I don't I want to try and study outside of Greece. So out of curiosity if you ever see this. What university have you gone to?
