That particular 928 has the 4.7 liter V8 which put out around 235 hp or so. I forget the exact number. The 1985 euro models had 288 and you didn’t see 300+ hp until the S4 in 1987. That was a ton of power for the era. That car should definitely have a timing belt cover and judging by the looks of it should have been replaced a while ago. The mechanical odos often broke so this car while possible, likely has more than 40k miles. This car could be restored but being a lesser desirable 2 gen auto car you would be upside down before the paintwork began. The parts however are very valuable. those 17’ wheels are from a modern Boxster or Carrera. The 928 had the longest timing belt of any car when it was introduced at 7ft. It also had the first movable dash pod. The car was way ahead of its time when it was built and was Porsche’s first “clean sheet” design from the ground up. The best 928 forum is on Rennlist and covers every aspect of maintaining the cars. There are also several knowledgeable folks who chime in during BAT auctions if your looking for more info. I have had two and currently have a 90S4 in the garage.
If you watch Carwizard u prob stay away from the 928, MONEYPIT... Expensive to fix and not worth that much even running and driving. I like them though! Wouldn´t mind a 928 S4. 🥰😍🤩
What a shame the Porsche 928 was allowed to deteriorate and then involved in a collision. I understand the 928 received a lot of hand assembly during their build at the Porsche factory.
Thats not a collision its not one hit it looks like someone backed into it a few times the hits are to separate to be all at once be it maybe it was hit overt he years but id guess it was intentional the hits are all to odd
Did anyone else see that loader drive by randy in the background while he was by that Monte Carlo? It was banging the hell out of that suv it was transporting. Lol. I couldn’t imagine the damage that they do to the under carriages of the cars out there lol
Awesome video Randy thanks for sharing. I love that color on that Porsche and yellow is my favorite color. Didn't they have 928 S in the 80s movie Weird Science it was with Anthony Michael Hall and Bill Paxton and Robert Downey Jr. I remember Wyatt drove the 928 S but it was a different color. Keep up the great content and also happy holidays to you and your family.
Good morning Randy. The Porche is a decent looking car even though it's got damage all around it. The Chevrolet Monte Carlo is a decent looking car even though it's got frame damage on the front end.
Hey Randy, I just saw your Copart walk around this morning. You do a fantastic job on every Copart walk around and everything you do. I love everything you do when I watch it every single day as much as I can just keep the contact coming on your RU-vid channel cause I watch them every single day and I know you will so, but anyhow, I hope you have a great day and tell Jessica and Nick I said hi. I’ll talk to you again soon. Have a good day.
I'm 62 years old and I have had guns since I was about 12 years old. I can't believe that there are people that are so paranoid that they would tell you not to touch shells that are in a vehicle, especially if they haven't been fired... Do these people go to a restaurant and not use utensils just in case the dishwasher or waiter go off the rails and stab someone ?
The timing belt is 82½ inches long! 😮! Whoa, that's one of the longest timing belts in automotive history....... Geez😳😲😵💫duh, no thanks on changing that thing🙃😅🤣
Randy on that Monte Carlo you gotta keep the good headlight and corner light as well as the taillights and trunk. You NEVER know lol might come in handy
That's unfortunate about that 928S. What a nice car except for the damage. Hard pass sorry. Fun feature - it has a 160 mph speedometers when other cars of this era were running 85 mph units. Who owned that black truck? Yosemite Sam or Ted Nugent? There's enough shotgun shells to start a war. Perhaps the message presented by that truck is "praise the Lord and pass the ammunition..."
When you were lookn at that monte carlo that loader that passed was just letting that yukon hit the ground I heard you sigh there just adding more damage to it
@@carlbernard4197 yeah, you change oil every like 7-10K in these engines, fuel filter every like 50-100k and they will last up to a million miles that’s crazy.
That poor 928…I had the use of my Grandfather’s new 87 928S4 back in Highschool…was an awesome driving machine and super comfortable. I believe that Yellow is called Talbot Yellow and is kinda rare.
It’s not a money pit. It’s not realistic to fix. Any decently intelligent car guy would know that any Porsche with this much body damage is total loss parts car
That one light you weren't sure of on that 2500, the lightening bolt looking one, is for the electric throttle control. Vehicle is still drivable with that light on, however, I wouldn't drive it with the brake and ABS lights on.
No is not a TURBO. the only very scary thing is the mo timing belt cover, thats the longest timing belt ever. 7 feet long.😂😂. Got one 1984 ..running condition, black on black. How much money they are asking Sir. Bronx. New york. Nothing to be scare off. 😂😂❤❤❤
Unfortunately, not worth it. That's a parts car. Also, one of the early 80's models (I guess 80-83), which are the least desirable. Ruined interior, lots of engine and body work. Not worth the investment. I wish it was.
The 928 is the bastard stepchild of Porsche as a company, as far as the purists are concerned. It'd be funny to save it if for nothing else but to nauseate the air cooled snobs at your local cars & coffee Nice Monte Carlo, '87 & '88 were the only years for that silly euro front end. That would be an awesome parts car for an SS project.
How said it is, I riding porche 928. That a very expensive car even in this condition. But to make money take off the american bumper block and make it original. Engine will run all day long.
Hey Randy......on the Cummins.......there is definitely suspension damage to the right front.......but there is a good possibility that the frame is tweaked...I've seen it more than a few times when I worked at the body shop.....but then again you could replace the lower and upper control arms and it could be ok....... enjoy the videos......keep them coming.......😁
The red lightning bolt is a stupid dodge thing. 😆 my dodge grand caravan has the same thing when the temp Guage starts acting stupid. Once my temp fell to cold even after running few hours it would have engine light and that red lightning bolt.
Randy.. if i where you i would edit the part where the copart driver drives behind the monte carlo. Just as a precaution. You dont want them taking it a bad way.
Now is definitely NOT the time to be buying a car. Average car cost $47K?! That's insane! Check your ego at the door - you need a vehicle to get back and forth to work, not to impress anyone. An auto finance rate of 7%+ is an insult to anyone with excellent credit. No thanks. Those new cars can sit on the lot and rot away for all I care.
Under the guidance of Samuel Peter Descovich, a respected financial advisor specializing in financial planning, I effortlessly purchased my car. He aids me in strategizing to meet my goals and requirements. You can explore more about him by conducting an online search, where you'll find his webpage and additional details.
Found his website easily. It was like the first thing that came up when I searched his name. I'll surely touch basis with him to see what the best step is for me to take right now. THANK YOU!!!
Auto rate of 7% should be normal, because if the FED didn't keep rates artificially low. However, PRICES should insult you, these dealers are screwing their future for a gain in the short term.
After you stealing that sneakers bar I had to comment. I forgot to comment on the black truck video but I believe you found Nicks vehicle. keep up the great job sir
Hi randy I remember the Porsche my dad used to have when I was a kid he bought it brand new it was a red with a bage interior it was really nice he was drunk and he was going fast around a corner and flipped it I loved that car you’re huge fan Sean from Kingston Oklahoma
