Want to START a business? Go here: skool.com/games
If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.
Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.
Never quit,
Alex
FULL DISCLOSURE
I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.

Great video. One thing that’s important to note is that Alex’s content is extremely valuable because the stuff he talks about is high IQ with tons of experience, and what he says works. Even if you spend $5,000 per month on an agency, if you don’t have good stuff to talk about, and value to add to people watching, you won’t grow any channel. In the same way that even if Alex didn’t spend $15K per month, he’d still get views and subs because the content itself is valuable. He scaled to 5 million fast because what he teaches works, and he’s extremely smart. Well done Alex.

This isn't to say that his advice is wrong, it's just to give more praise for how good his content is. If your advice sucks, and you don't know what you're talking about, yo can spend $1M per month, and no one will care what you have to say. His advice is fire because he freakin knows what he's talking about.

i think its better to just learn everything urself, it seems to be the quickest path in the long term , its not rocket science, we all have teh same platforms ,same algorythm ,same everything, anything the agency knows you can learn as well its not some secret

I own a done-for-you content agency for big creators and from that side of the table, I particularly respect the emphasis on upfront transparency here. It's a win-win if you become a successful case study and everything is amicable. Simply means the agency have done their job and referalls will extend their LTV so to speak. Respect!

This is interesting. I run a small agency and this is what I’m seeing even in B2B. They have smaller, sometimes one person marketing departments. But when they work with us, they want us to help build their internal team and eventually hand the reigns to them. There’s pluses and minuses to agencies in this model. But ultimately seeing other people grow their skills is the ultimate reward.
@asperoa
@asperoa 11 месяцев назад
very true, when my clients actually understand what makes their content good or bad, they can start to improve their side of the process (framing, lighting, voice, script etc) which exponentially improves the outcome, since fancy editing isn't going to be the soul contributor to what makes a video great...

Wow, your journey to growing your audience by 5 million people in under 24 months is truly remarkable! Your method of utilizing agencies and systematically transitioning to in-house expertise is a brilliant strategy. Now, if you could apply this agency-to-in-house approach to any aspect of your life, not just related to digital marketing, what would it be, and how do you think it would transform that area of your life? 😄

Absolutely agree! Applying the agency-to-in-house approach to another aspect of life is an interesting concept. If I were to choose, I might apply it to Home Improvement and Renovation, this agency-to-in-house approach to home improvement would not only transform my living space but also provide a sense of accomplishment, self-sufficiency, and the ability to create a truly customized and sustainable home environment. Looking forward to his answer too!

As a RU-vid organic marketing agency, we can relate to what Alex explains here about "committing to the basics" at first. We would say 6 - 9 months of commitment to RU-vid tailored to a goal (either lead gen or growth) can't only get you the understanding of the basics and minor technicalities of the platform but also great results... Especially if you're working with an agency willing to "coach" you throughout the process. Once you have the basic understanding, momentum, synergy working with an external team, and great initial results, then it could make sense to bring an in-house team... Nonetheless, we usually find our clients keep working with us for years because of how effortless and convenient we make the process for them. The transition would just depend on whether you found the right agency-client relationship or not.

As an experienced RU-vid Management Agency, we might be biased about this, but the biggest indicator of a good decision, if you are looking to hire an agency, is if the agency has successful case studies and testimonials. If they can't show results, they are probably not the right company to hire.
