I believe the Goblin Merchant is very profitable because of 1 simple thing: Gold Inflation. Back several wipes ago before there were multiple stash tabs and less large gold containers, gear overall on the trade/market was much cheaper because players could simply not hold as much gold as they can now. Since adding more stash tabs, prices on everything has gone up, but goblin merchant prices have stayed the same. Gamble in-between raids and you will likely profit in the long-term.
