Your outpouring of love in these comments means the WORLD to both me and Kristi. I also wanted to update you guys -- in the few weeks since we finished filming this episode, Kristi's glucose levels have normalized since the first time since her diagnosis, AND she lost another half inch off her waist through her nutritional work with Brandon.

I love that we can get to see a bigger person workout and eat right but NOT see a huge drop in weight because it shows people that all bodies are different and what may make one person drop 30 pounds in 7 weeks may not have the same result on another person's body. But there are some people who body shame and just dont empathize with people who have severe weight issues like this young woman. By severe I mean overweight and very difficult to lose it. I go through this too. I can lose the first 10 pounds and then my body just stubbornly holds on and wont let me keep losing. It's very defeating. We have to learn as a society to be more understanding and more supportive to overweight people. I really hope she continues eating right and exercising!
@dank4691

Sorry fam but the average joe's metabolism doesn't vary that much as people always make it out to be. Unless you have a physical condition like the lady in the video, you should have no problem in losing weight/building muscle. Some just don't exercise and or restrict themselves enough with food. Calories vs. calories out
@dank4691

@@dank4691 you dont need a condition to have a slow metabolism. There are many factors that can cause a slow metabolism.
@Leanne_w

@Jenna M, a slow metabolism isn’t an excuse. There’s ways to speed up your metabolism. If you’re stuck at a certain weight. Then you need to look at why.
@jennam2449
@jennam2449 5 лет назад
@@Leanne_w no one said it was an excuse, and no one said that all people who have slow metabolisms dont know why. My point was not everyone gets the same results for the same amount of calories burned and the same amount of calories eaten and to be more empathetic to those people.

Michelle encouraging her to say ‘director’ with confidence really got me. I know this series is technically a ‘body’ makeover, but it’s always amazing to see how much taking control of your healthy can help you take control of your life. I’m a creative person (with PCOS) who’s been trying to break into my industry for so many years, and sometimes self care definitely takes a back seat. It’s always good to have a reminder that everything starts with you

As a woman with PCOS, it was so incredibly gratifying to see anyone address this. PCOS is a relentless and heartless disease that robs you of joy, health, fertility and peace of mind. Thanks to you and Kirsti for shedding a little bit of light on an illness that hasn't gotten the attention it deserves.

Melissa Smith I do want to preface this with the fact that I am not a doctor. To my knowledge (personal and research) struggling to get pregnant or struggling to carry to term is not uncommon with PCOS. However, I highly suggest you ask your doctor about your specific situation and needs because PCOS symptoms vary from person to person and there are plenty of different avenues to try in terms of keeping a regular cycle and ensuring the safest possible pregnancy. Many women don’t have much of an issue with getting pregnant and many women do. Talk to a medical professional whom you trust to properly advise you about your PCOS. Much love 💛

@@5447princess Not always, I got diagnosed when I was 12 and my doctor put me on birth control to help with the cysts. Then I missed a dose or two right before my 21st birthday, I figured whatever I can't get pregnant anyway, but boy was I wrong. I had a great pregnancy and my daughter is about to be two.

She seems to be keeping up with trying to maintain her health, although with PCOS there's not a drastic physical change. She recently found that she identifies as "queer" and/or nonbinary, but still goes by "she" or "them" or "they". She said she's done a lot of freelance art work, though it sounds like she doesn't have a full time job just yet. She says she's happier than she's ever been, even though financially she's on shaky ground. She also got engaged, which is lovely! I believe that's the majority of her update thus far. 😊

When diagnosed it’s a life changing moment and it’s a lot to change. I’m grateful for people like Michelle who are there to support others get their life back! Thank you!

I haven't even gotten 5 minutes into the video and I wanted to thank you, Michelle, for bringing awareness to PCOS. Having PCOS and being a rock climber and going to the gym is a test of my determination and self discipline every day. It's so nice and reassuring to see light being shined on these illnesses, knowing that maybe people can understand the pain of our every day life and also knowing that other women are kicking ass with PCOS is real nice too. ❤️

Can I just tell you how absolutely amazing this video was? I struggle with PCOS as well and know the difficulties of living with it and feeling so awful about myself. I find it hard to get motivated to work out because you do feel like there won't be a difference and you're embarrassed about your body so you don't want people to see you working out. This is such an amazing and beautiful video and I hope you realize how amazing you are Michelle for giving these people especially Kristi an opportunity to feel happy and like themselves again. Much much love and appreciation.

“If I can take a 4 hour nap of clinical depression, then I can take ONE hour of workout” for me it’s usually 6-12 hours of depression nap so this really spike to me. What’s one hour of my already miserable day. If working out feels miserable how is that different from my baseline miserable already.

It’s interesting because I’m now 20 years old and back when I was 15/16 I was told I was too young to be put on stronger medications for PCOS. This was in Canada so I know the mentality with prescription medication can be different in the USA. But I’ve had it relatively under control with diet and exercise and the birth control minipill until now... and I know of others like me too. So when I see a lot of American youtubers or bloggers who were put on these medications earlier it surprises me. Also, they usually have more issues with weight and depression. That aside, I have to say I found Kristi to be super inspirational and strong. Since I also have cerebral palsy which results in weakness on my right side, exercise is always a fight and a challenge. But I don’t allow people to see that in my day to day unless they are close to me, because I worry so much about seeming weak. Seeing Kristi be so open made me feel better about maybe letting more people in and asking for help, so thank you!

this really hit home. I have fibromyalgia, which affects my body in all sorts of ways, and definitely makes it really difficult to exercise regularly and eat well. Seeing how much all of y'all cared about her and supported her really made me tear up. So often, people assume that the reason I have excess weight and don't exercise every day is because I'm lazy and I need to just to try harder. So to see a team of people surround Kristi with understanding and compassion was what I needed. And I love this series so much. Because other weight loss videos make me feel frustrated with myself. But these videos just inspire me to take care of myself and prove that I can be kind to myself over this issue instead of beating myself up for my missteps. Thank you Michelle
@aidak1512
@aidak1512 5 лет назад
wow i cried at the end when they offered her to keep training her for free it means so much... also i feel included for once... it's hard having an invisible illness because people just assume you are lazy or "fat" cause you let yourself go... when it's the medication's side effect :( you can't really do anything about it... like i recently got diagnosed with auto inmune hepatitis and i gained 4kg in two weeks! so i completely changed my diet even though i'm a hardcore foodie... i do sports almost everyday now, i do everything i can to minimize the side effects of prednisone (the medication) i lost 2.5kg in a week and a half but my "moonface" (swelling of the face) just doesn't go away and that's the WORST for me because my head looks huge now... i look overweight while my body is thin... it looks ridiculous and i feel ugly... i just don't recognise myself when i walk past a mirror... i have always been skinny especially from my face so suddenly having a double chin feels so weird .. it's like i'm trapped ... and people have the nerve to comment...when they walk past me like "oh walking is so hard right?..." or "you gained weight it doesn't suit you..." yes sometimes i struggle to walk but that's because the medication eats my muscles sorry if that bothers you wtf... and yes my face is swollen and it doesn't suit me... but wtf can i do about it . just keep your comments to yourself...i hate this fucking deases... i just want to be a normal 19 year old :(

I'm so glad the team will continue to work with her so she can continue her progress. Thanks Michelle for showcasing Kristi's story of PCOS and her journey back to a healthier lifestyle that started physically but was clearly emotionally healthier as well. I'm so glad she felt more like her original self and felt creative again. Loved her story. I'd love to see a follow-up on Kristi and your other extreme body makeover clients/friends/family and see if they continued their diet and exercise regimes or if they decided to do other things to improve their lives afterwards. Thank you so much for this! You have no clue how much is means to women with PCOS. I have struggled with my self worth my whole life due to my PCOS. What's worse is not only how much I struggled with my weight, but the backlash I have received when I wasn't overweight. I have been told countless times that I can't have PCOS because I'm not obese, but it's obnoxiously obvious all in the bloodwork and facial hair I remove every other week to hide my PCOS. The saddest part was the bulk of the backlash occurring when I was thin for the wrong reasons (not eating, working out to an unhealthy extreme on an empty body, etc); I would hear that and felt like a congratulations at times for putting my body through things it never should. I still struggle with my body image and weight, but seeing others go through the same thing as me is so uplifting. Invisible illnesses feel so isolating. It's nice to not feel invisible for once.
