Dude don’t give up. This is a great channel

You’ve produced a few videos complaining about this over the last few months. If you are on RU-vid to make money and feel the fishing videos are a waste of time, then quit. You are making a living producing low tech conversations from your tackle room, I’d say you’re pretty blessed at this point. If the fishing videos are too time consuming for the ROI, the obvious decision is to quit. The other thing to consider is how much traffic you get from your Tackle Warehouse link with every fishing conversation you put out there. Maybe that income should be considered as well. You have this figured out and I’d assume you well know that this conversation is going to receive a high number of views as well.

I would hate to see you quit. But we have full-time jobs, thank God, and it's hard to listen to all in one day.

I guess I’m weird but the 5 budget friendly fishing lures video was one of the most useful videos I’ve watched.

Randy, I'm one of the few apparently that watch both. I appreciate your opinions, due to your age (sorry about that), you've seen it, been in it and lived it for a long time. And, don't let this shock you too much, but I agree with you on most all. BUT, I also value your tips. I use your tips. I dumped out my jig boxes (had two), and redid them by your tips, I just spray painted some of my crankbaits per your tips, most all of them. Your wise, I thank you for sharing your wisdom. I profit from it. Thank you.

I would be willing to bet your faithful followers watch all your videos. I love the tips myself. I have applied several of them too my fishing and they have helped me catch more fish.

I've been watching your channel for years Randy, and I always enjoy what you upload. You're transparent and tell it like it is, which is exactly what these platforms need more of. I first discovered you back in the early 90's on an episode of Bassmasters, and when I got back into doing a lot more bass fishing I looked you up and found the channel. Don't go anywhere man!!! This is YOUR channel, and YOU are in control of the content. The RU-vid algorithm and people in general always like drama. It gets people watching the videos longer, gets them to comment, they return to the video multiple times when they engage with others, etc. When I started building my channel with the content that I make, I started to see the pattern. The videos that your followers can benefit from just don't get pushed by YT like the other ones do, and that sucks. The current time of year for bass fishing content doesn't help much either, but for what it's worth I have learned a lot from you and so have a lot of other people here. Look at your channel growth and how quickly you've gotten to this point. Keep being you man, we love the videos!

Randy, as a past Kansas Bass Chapter Federation board member (pre Bass Nation) in the early 2000's (pre RU-vid) I fully understand your concerns in the fishing industry. I have no issues with it being brought to light. I am sure there are many anglers of RU-vid that know what we as BASS grass roots anglers have done to help make the sport what it is today. I am also sure there are many that don't know what was before current times. I agree we did things that didn't help our sport either, but it's always been about the progressing the sport in a positive way & creating a level playing field. I started tournament fishing in 1990 and boy how things have grown through people caring about the sport like yourself. It goes hand in hand, back in the day we could only express through meetings, emails etc etc. now we have social media platforms to help get the word out no matter how positive or negative to some people. That's for them to evaluate how they feel about the information given to them, and what to do about or with it. As for information/Opinion videos VS fishing/Lure/Technique videsos? You have to have both to make it important in my opinion. As for lure cost & mentioning, it's not your fault that the bait companies have really pushed prices through the roof. I had sponsorships and I always used and mentioned their baits, terminal tackle etc. I also let people know everyone makes a similar product. My vote is keep doing what you do on your channel, I got to your channel late as I don't RU-vid very much. but have enjoyed all of your content but maybe because I did all those Federation conservation projects, ran Kansas Youth Events as their Youth Director. Was in on the planning with BASS/ESPN in getting fishing into the colleges & high schools so we can grow the sport. anyway enough of the blabbing. Do you & I will support it

Randy, just keep doing what you’ve been doing, brother! I came here and stayed because I learn a ton from you. The opinion videos are just icing on the cake!

We've been over topic a few weeks ago ! I checked the comments and they were overwhelmingly positive for fishing tips ! You go ahead with your opinion videos then and see what happens! Drama videos will only last so long before they get completely burned out! I encourage you to continue the teaching videos!

I know you sponsored by Megabass but not all of us can afford them, so when i see reference to Megabass i just skip pass as i'll never buy them. Try some off the stuff product. My suggestion is to walk into a BPS buy something like a $1 lure off the shelf and go fishing with it. In general people want to see these tips and techniques produce. Look at other channels like Ben, Chris and Brian, the best content is shot on the water while out fishing.

I subscribed to your channel because I'm a fan of bass fishing. I've first became aware of you as an angler when you pulled your drain plug to get under the bridge at Buggs Island.(Wow! that was 35 years ago) I've followed your career on and off ever since. Not because of your angling prowess but mostly because of your stance on protecting the environment. Your opinion videos are what keeps me coming back. There is more to life than catching bass.

Randy your experience and actually Tournament time the last 40 years is invaluable. I know you're frustrated with the smaller numbers on the tip and techniques. I watch them all. I rarely watch other fishing shows. I enjoyed the other fishing shows but I learning more on your teaching. I'm bout to turn 74 and wanting to get back into fishing. Thanks for all you do! GOD Bless

Don’t give up, I watch as much as possible. The last two weeks I’ve not watched but one or two videos because my travel and work schedule has been crazy with little or no time for RU-vid. I’m going to watch the low cost lure video as soon as I get a chance

I think you have all the data you need to make your decision. If you still want to make "teaching" videos - keep doing them and don't worry about who watches them. If you want more views - well, you have the data to support going down the road of opinion videos. It just depends on what your goal is.

Randy I’ve been a subscriber and have been watching your videos almost daily for over two years now. I appreciate what you do, I have learned a lot from your fishing info videos. I don’t mind your opinion videos either most of the time I agree with you, not always but that’s just life. What I think people really want to see and would love to watch from you is you actually out fishing. I wish you would do more of those.

Your fishing tip videos are solid juice! You have helped me catch fish with a jerkbait(6lb line on my 6’8 medium spinning setup changed my jerkbait catch ratio from little to a lot). Also your jig videos have been confidence inspiring. I’ve caught some really good fish on my finesse jigs, using your techniques. Anyhow, I really hope you continue to make fishing tip videos…….. But also I understand you have to make money to feed your family. Either way, thanks for the fishing tips up to current. -Will

I only watch four fishing channels, MattS and two kayakers. I do try to watch every one of your videos, but miss one or two here and there. I enjoy both types of video, without you I wouldn't have even known the forward facing sonar is. I would of just thought it was the next generation of fish finders. My advice would be create what you enjoy and let the views land where they land. Chasing views is chasing your tail. You've created an amazing fan base, keep doing what your doing. You have a wealth of knowledge and it's wonderful that you have chosen to share it. I hope this does no seem harsh, it's not meant that way, but when you create so much content, I guess it doesn't seem as special or unique when it comes out, it's expected. The kayak channels have no set schedule and when the post, there's no way I'll miss them, it's exciting. Wish you the best Randy, it's a tough nut to crack.

Keep on keeping on! I like your opinion videos. You are more times than not spot on. You provide a different perspective more from your experience and professional angler aspect of things. Your opinion videos on fishing is great to hear for me We are about the same age and I relate to them. Also your tip videos are very informative such as the toothpaste cleaning lures. I used that tip on a box of old shad raps. New hooks and cleaned with some good Colgate made em new again. You do you Randy.

Gotta do what’s best for your family. I’m all about hearing inside information and stories that general public doesn’t know. Tip videos are over saturated. Teaching something that most don’t is your Avenue.

I say keep it going just like it is Randy I like the mix of opinion and fishing videos. I watch them all but like I’ve said before I’m always a week behind on videos with doctors appointments and being busy and watching several other type of videos. I stay about a week behind, but I do watch all of yours. Keep up the good work.

At the end of the day, they still view your vids, which benefits you. I’d keep the same recipe you’ve been following. On a side note, I was skeptical of your how to hold a spinning rod video but it made me think…and now I’m going to experiment this spring ..hahaha

Randy, you don't owe it to anyone to do anything other than what you WANT to do. You have done it all. That being said, I enjoy watching both your opinion videos and your advice videos (though I prefer the advice videos as I am not a tournament fisherman, I just like to relax and fish by myself on the water, and am blessed by living in a place where I can go out on a lake and not see another person all day. :) As I said, I prefer the advice videos and hope you continue making them. I enjoy getting insights on fishing from someone who's experience can't be questioned.

Everybody and their brother have fishing tips to give. Very few prominent personalities with a voice as well experienced and articulate as yours are speaking up about very important bass fishing industry related topics. I say make YOUR voice heard more often and louder.

Good afternoon Randy: Just recently have i interduced myself into fishing world of RU-vid videos. Unfortunately they are so many you tubers out their, as most are just a waist of time. At 70 years old and a guy who fishes various lakes in Kentucky as a long time non-professional tournament fisherman. I do enjoy both your individual techniques and the old stories, even the wife likes the mental mondays. I for one hope you can continue to do both. I do enjoy your bait modifications and tweaks that even an old dog can learn new tricks. As a long time follower of your career and along with many others as well. I am fortunate that you popped up on my face book page. I am amazed of how many things I can relate and agree with you within so many topics. (lives cope, spawing season ban, environmental issues etc.) I have been vocal on this for years. Example i live on a 5,700 acre lake that has become tournament fished now 5 days a week. Boat traffic on the weekends has become a nightmare. The corp of engineers had to rip rap several areas of the lake due to bank erosion. I could go on and on! Hang in their take care.

Stay positive, it works. No matter the issue.

The amount of videos I can watch is dependent on how busy my day is. Sometimes I only have time to watch a video or 2, because work and family time soaks up my whole day. Other times I have more time for RU-vid and then I can watch a few.

i have watched your videos for a few years and will continue to watch them, on the outside looking in this is what i see, you seem to be a very nice person, trying to please everyone, that is not gonna happen, kinda like going out to eat, some folks want chicken, some want steaks, etc, but you have to serve both to get the customers in,, keep doing what you are doing, i would like to see you make some crappie or catfishing videos, but that is me, this is your channel, do what you want to do

The answer is pretty simple. People are hate-watching your opinion videos because they don't like you and don't respect your opinions. The same people aren't watching your fishing videos, because they don't like you and don't respect your opinions.

Sounds more like an algorithm problem than anything else. RU-vid knows those catchy drama kinda based titles will grab more views in.

You did a in depth video on Pig N Jigs. You said there was one color for the Coosa River in Bama that killed it. Wasn't it the Brown jig with a Ginger Ale colored trailer?
