I'll take a free grand marquis any day! Hard not to buy them. I see them going for 2-4k in great shape. If I acted on my impulses, I'd have a parking lot
Yeah, can't beat free. I didn't giveaway the turd jag on the channel, I gave it to someone who needed a car. Bubble gum might actually work great for that screw cover as the original is soft like bubble gum 😀
I love em too. The division is 1998-2002 and then 2003-2011. There was a major redesign to the suspension in 2003 as well as introduction of the rack and pinion steering. Pre 2003 cars still have the recirculating ball steering and ride much softer. It really all depends on your personal preference. The older cars are much harder to find in good shape.
@@LimitedEditionMotorcars Is it possible to change the Climate Control from " ELECTRONIC AUTOMATIC TEMPERATURE CONTROL (EATC) " to MANUAL Control System? I remember way back then everyone that complain about their ACs are the ones that have (EATC) while the MANUAL never complain.
Everything is possible but you will need a lot of parts and a lot of labor to do the conversion. There really aren't many issues with the EATC and any issues are very easily fixable.
I have owned both and the 2006-2011 are some of the best cars ever made. Some of the issues from earlier years were corrected in later years, and 2006 and up Police Interceptors have 250 hp.
I recently bought a 1985 Mercedes Benz 300D Turbo Diesel in amazing condition for $1,600. The owner had maintained it really well, and while it has 250K+ miles, I know that I can get at least twice as many miles if I continue with upkeep. I had to replace a ball joint ($250), and still need to replace the floor boards under the passenger seat. May look to replace the flex disc, as well. Most of the work I'll be able to do on my own, like oil changes, valve adjustments, fuel filter, etc. My father has the 300TD wagon, and has 600K+ miles on the original motor. I just watched your video on the W123, and really enjoyed it. Ironically, saw this video in your feed, and it reminded me that a week ago, I was torn between the 300D and a 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis for roughly the same price. My question to you is: Do you think I made the right choice in buying the 300D over the Grand Marquis? I know it's a COMPLETE apples to oranges question, haha. Crazy coincidence that I found a RU-vidr (subscribed) who's reviewed both cars.
Thanks for your comment, appreciate you watching. Tough question sir. I love both but if we are talking quality, definitely Mercedes. The grand marquis is obviously more modern and can keep up with traffic better. The other benefit of the GM is the fact that parts are cheaper and more plentiful. However, Mercedes still has a lot of parts in stock for the w123 which is amazing. In terms of servicing, both cars are as simple as garden hoses and easy to work with. If I had the choice, I would buy both 😁
@@LimitedEditionMotorcars Haha, I was afraid that you would respond with "Both." But I appreciate the honesty! The good news is that I'm seeing these Grand Marquis all over the place in the NYC area (where I live) for under $2,000. Many have been given by older adults, and appear to be in pristine condition. Perhaps in a year (or a few months, haha), I'll pick one up. Already have a Volvo S60 (daily driver) and a Saab 9-3 convertible (weekend and beach car, also bought it to have a 5-speed manual), so I'll see if I can manage a fourth car! Thanks for interacting with your subscribers so readily! Have a great night.
