I own this grand marquis. Thanks everyone for the amazing compliments. This car is my daily driver and I picked it up about 5 months ago. I love panther cars. I own a 2003 as well

That's a clean-looking Grand Marq. I like that the shifter and gauges seem a little nicer than later Panthers. I like the painted steelies with center caps and trim rings. It's a shame these big boaty comfortable cars went out of style. The only thing that can kill these is rust. The aero Crown Victoria had a different roofline from the Grand Marquis due to the C-pillar window. When the Panthers were redesigned in 1997 the Crown Vic body adopted the Grand Marq's roofline.

I had a 95 and put those same center caps, they were from a Mountaineer. Wish I'd thought to grab the Ranger chrome trim rings from the same junkyard while I was at it. With the steelies and center caps my coworkers thought it was a decommissioned police car.

I own a 1996 grandma, and it truly is the most comfortable and smoothest driving car I've ever owned. Got mine a couple years ago with only 91,000 miles on it and showroom new interior. It was a granny's garage dweller and I was able to get it for only $1,800.00 CHA-CHING!! These cars are built like BEAST. I love mine.

any plans to replace to plastic manifold or r u gonna wait till it cracks? i got a 97 town car with 60k on it and have nightmares about it cracking when I'm on route to a job interview or something important lol

That locking gas door is not factory. These had recirculating ball steering instead of rack/pinion that came in 2003. But the interiors were nicer than the 2003+ where Ford started de-contenting them.

Same with the center caps and chrome trim rings. I had the same caps on my '95 Grand Merc which I took from a Mountaineer in the junkyard. (Needed to get the lug nuts too because they have a shoulder that holds the caps on.) I believe the trim rings may have been from a Ranger. Not much of a mod but it makes a great change to the aesthetic of these cars. Made mine look ten years newer (and made me look forty years younger) than the chrome spoked hubcaps that came with my car.

I always found the 03+ seats more comfortable and the door panels seem to hold up better, but the newer ones definitely aren't screwed together as well as these 90s models.

I owned a 1992 Crown Vic out of the aero era for many many years as a daily driver. It was an LX with leather seats and air suspension. I dare say it rode just as well as this Grand Marquis if not better. But I love all of the panther platform cars. This I love showing my Town Car in my videos.

Love my 95 aero. Handles about the same as my 2020 Jeep Sahara 4 door with its recirculating ball, which is to say horrible, but I much prefer driving the Grand Marquis for everything else.

Grandma Keith! Love my Panthers ❤ Had a 00 Town Car for a bit, but stumbled upon a 97 Mark VIII for a good deal. Would still love to add another Panther something or another from this gen at some point again when I get more space. Curious as to if you can swap the plastic intake manifolds for metal though 🤔

My Mom had a 96 Grand Marquis, it had everything, it was digital, leather, and had the reading lights in the rear. it was in really rough shape, she stopped driving it around 2019, it had too many issues with heating and air conditioning, brakes were gone when we pulled out of the driveway to take out in the street when we got our license, front seats were rough too
@drewzero1

I bought a 95 Grand Marquis as an overreaction to my cramped Mazda 323. I got it cheap with some interior issues and a cloth top, did some repairs and tore off the roof cover, and put on the Mountaineer center caps like the one reviewed here. It was a great highway car but my wife said it made her seasick. After five years of faithful service the front suspension parted ways and it was just too rusty to be worth fixing. I have a feeling the upcoming Crown Vic is going to look a little more familiar to the condition of my car, lol. PSA: If you have one of these and it always smells like gas, change the filler tube ASAP. It's an easy repair and it's not safe to breathe or spill that stuff.

In my city there was a taxi company that had some Grand Marquis in in its fleet. I always liked when they sent a Grand Marquis because they are so comfortable, much better than the Camry and Prius they use now.

Great review and nice work on your other episodes. It’s interesting hearing a younger perspective on the ‘older’ vehicles . I owned this Marquis also in LS trim and enjoyed it for years as I was doing a lot of driving at the time. I was in my 20s and constantly was made fun of for owning an ‘old person’ car ( can’t spell Grand Marquis without Grandma ) but it served me well for a long time. However, the plastics quality were sadly a weak link for that model year particularly on the door panels. Lots of cheap materials and loose assembly mainly in the armrest / window control area. The fit and finish always bothered me compared to other brands. I personally loved the design …. Very elegant for the time … the rear deck and light area still looks great to me and I always felt the design had great proportions compared with the 2000 + model years with the larger headlamps. Keep the videos coming !

I believe you can swap out the seats from any Panther body from 91-2011 and they bolt right in, no hassle.
@drewzero1
@drewzero1 8 месяцев назад
A lot of parts are like that. I replaced the front fender on mine and had the pick of 1992-2011 model years in the junkyard. Some things like trailer hitch receivers will fit 1979-2011 though there were some changes to the frame around 2002 iirc.

If I was ever to turn anything into a slab, this would be it. Im nit the type of guy that would own a slab but we had ine at the last shop I used to work at and all my coworkers and even my crush were saying that car even with the big rims fit me really well. And it didnt help that I was always the ine bringing in at night

The difference in handling is because Ford went to rack and pinion steering in around 2002. My 04 and 11 CVPI Crown Victoria Police Interceptors handle better than my 98 Lincoln Mark VIII and 05 Dodge Magnum Hemi RT did.

Not really. They are great cars, but this particular one was not in the best shape. Go to 7:32 and you can see a dent in the rear along the top body line, and the front passenger door has a couple of big dents as well.

The 98-2011 generation can't compete with the previous. The 91 GM would probably be the peak of this vehicle.
@melvinharris7859
@melvinharris7859 8 месяцев назад
My personal favorite for these is the 92-94 models. The old box models from the 80s are poor quality and the interiors fall apart really fast. I think the newer ones drive better, but these 90s models definitely have more care put into the fit and finish and whatnot. They also look better IMO. But that's subjective I suppose.
