I was afraid you were gonna call me out on the FUT comment 😅 Not sure where I heard that. But to answer a couple of your questions: -The topical treatment i was using before was minoxidil -The 26 was for the estimated 2,600 total grafts. I talked them down.. -The lower line drawn was their suggestion. I made them raise it to my actual hairline (the upper line) -They did 50 grafts on each of my temples. Not sure why. Why just to add texture? Thanks for the video! I learned a thing or 2 :)

The photo at 0:57 is from IRAN, not Turkey. The name of the man who took the photo is Reza Baeedi, which is not a Turkish name. I'm Turkish and I got surprised by the clinic room in the photo. Firstly, our plastic surgery/hair transplant clinics don't have 10 people shoved in a room getting hair transplants. Secondly, all the women wearing headscarves in the photo also points to it being from Iran. Low cost in Turkey doesn't mean it's bad quality. Our currency is losing value against the euro and dollar which is why it is cheap for foreigners. It's still quality care. Just like how there are some bad plastic surgeons in America and Europe, the same with Turkey. It's important to do research obviously before getting hair transplant or plastic surgery. I hope you do more reactions on plastic surgery in Turkey, this was very interesting!

@@drgarylinkov great but it doesn't help when the topic is on Turkey and there are already lots of misinformation about the country. And because turkey is a secular country with controversial views on religion, such depiction would cause Turkish people to be extremely offended by the visual. The visual depiction is very offensive and infuriating. I wonder if the Dr use exactly the same words for Brazil would you choose that photo.

@@drgarylinkov Where he specifically said Turkey before hand. Doubling down on ignorance and spreading misinformation - specifically talking about Turkey and throwing up an image of Iran is misleading. Doctors in Turkey do whatever they want. They do not perform aesthetic surgery based on need. I say this as a girl who had rhinoplasty. I wanted a slightly natural aesthetic. When I woke up, half of my nose was gone. After the surgery, I was insecure for my nose, I was never before.

Living in Istanbul, I can definitely confirm that this is a HUGE business. The value of your dollar/euro is higher than ever before making overall costs and labor extremely cheap as well. Foreigners love the personal pick up, in a ‘fancy’ van, the driver, being brought to a nice hotel, the attentiveness of many staff, the extra gimmicks (all very cheap thanks to your valuable €$£) etc. I don’t know anything more than that but I’d be searching the heck out of the clinic I’d eventually be choosing and listen to your gut, not the ‘don’t worry, everything will be great’ talk you’ll often get. There are indeed many success stories, which is great. (And beware of things like ‘Turkey Teeth’ if you are considering getting dental work done as well) Also; Istanbul is expecting huge earthquakes, make sure your hotel and clinic safe new buildings (preferably built within the last 5-8 years). 60% of buildings in the city are considered unsafe 🥲

They all agreed he is an approachable, understanding guy with good bedside manner and that he was present in the clinic (you'd think docs who have this kind of presence online sometimes tend to become more of a celebrity and maybe delegate actual work on workers, but it wasn't the case with him). You can tell this guy was not prepared at all, nor was he educated enough to get surgery. He shouldn't have gone for the low hairline as it will absolutely screw him over later in life. Also, I didn't think his hair loss was that bad in the first place. I don't think he would have needed surgery at all. But definitely at most should have done just 1000 grafts in the corners. If the surgeons are not going to have a conservative approach then I would be skeptical on the quality of the actual transplant as well.

Hi Dr - thanks for sharing valuable information over the channel and website. One quick question - I didn't do a good job in cleaning my scabs which was identified in my 3 month follow up with the doctor. I observed canal-like things over my scalp. After that, I cleaned my scabs where I saw a lot of hair coming out. Doctor did say that those hair were supposed to fall out but were glued to skin. I am curious how that will affect my transplant results. Did my untimely clean up of scabs would have damaged my roots, or will it delay my results, if yes by how much? I heard from somewhere that if you don't clean scabs, then it can cause inflammation and can decrease survivability. Is it true? I am at 5 months now but don't see a good density yet. Hey Dr. Gary, for someone who’s younger (mid-late 20s) who’s self conscious about their receding hairline, would a hair transplant still be viable?
@mysteryuser7062
@mysteryuser7062 Год назад
Most likely yes. First thing you should do is begin taking oral Finasteride 1 mg a day. Your hairloss is caused by the hormone DHT, a stronger form of testosterone, and Finasteride works by preventing testosterone from becoming DHT. You can also use topical minoxidil to maximize results from about a year’s worth of taking Finasteride. A year, because hormones take time to have their effects. At this stage, you may experience enough regrowth to where you no longer need a transplant. You’re quite young, so this is possible. If you do still want a hair transplant, it’ll use less grafts after Finasteride and help you maintain those grafts after surgery. Consult more than one doctor before you go underneath the knife

@skyDN1974 Год назад
Have a consult with an honest Dr about it. Sometimes it’s best to wait until the loss stabilizes before surgery. Might want to try finasteride too

@mysteryuser7062
@mysteryuser7062 Год назад
@@AliHamza-sv4ni I take Finasteride and I’m very much still capable downstairs. Honestly, I can’t say I’ve noticed any side effects besides hair regrowth. However, you really need an anti-androgen to combat Androgenic Alopecia (MPB). Finasteride is normally the first to recommend, because side effects only occur in 2% of patients and it’s extremely effective. Dutasteride is much stronger (able to block 90% DHT as opposed to Finasteride’s 70%), but has a slightly higher chance of side effects (also it will cause greater initial hormone disruption, naturally being a stronger drug). It’s best to start at about 1 mg of Finasteride or 0.5 mg (if just for future prevention) and increase dosage after resistance builds after years of successful usage, and then move onto Dutasteride. This way, you can maximize efficiency of these two anti-androgens. However, if you are allergic to Finasteride, you can still use Ketoconazole shampoo, RU1885, or a newer drug called Pyr to block DHT from harming your follicle. Saw Palmetto is also a supplement with some DHT blocking abilities (probably close to like 10% compared to 70% with Finasteride). Using Minoxidil with an androgen blocker is often compared to filling a bucket with sand that still has a hole in it. Without a DHT blocker to plug the hole, your follicles will still fall out like sand through a hole

@KamiMountainMan

Hi Dr. Linkov, I hope you are doing well. At 44, I've been experiencing diffuse hair loss, particularly in the frontal area, spanning approximately 55-70 cm² (10Wx7H). While some remnants of my old hairline are still visible, the recent thinning has been quite noticeable, especially over the past two years. To manage this, I've been attempting to camouflage the area with hair from neighboring regions. Additionally, there's some thinning in my crown area, which I believe could benefit from Minoxidil treatment. Understanding the limitations of diagnosing without a direct assessment, I'm curious about the estimated range of grafts required for a hair transplant in my case. I acknowledge the difficulty in providing a precise figure without evaluating the thickness of my hair firsthand. On a side note, I genuinely wish I could afford to undergo the procedure directly under your care, rather than considering the complexities of seeking treatment overseas, where there's a risk of overharvesting. Thank you for your time and expertise and all your informational videos.

Hey Doc, I am 25 and am about a year into my first FUE transplant. The results are amazing, finally have my hairline back again. It was recommended to get on a minoxidil or finasteride to limit the advancement of possible further balding, although the side effects and understanding that I'd have to use them every day till I die led me off that decision. In a way I'm sort of planning to do another transplant down the road since I don't think my balding is finished. A question I have is, how many hair transplants can an individual have?
@leandoer2581
@leandoer2581 Год назад
Not sure what exactly you have meant by "side effects", but both Minoxidil and Finasteride treatments used same time are known to work very well especially in younger people. If you watch more of Dr. Linkov's videos you can find a detailed explanation of both drugs and you can easily find instructions on how to properly use and apply them, like Minoxidil + dermaroller treatment alone might result in enough regrow to prolong the good shape of hair for long enough I don't think you will need another transplant for at least 10-15 years. Adjust your diet, adjust your hair - care routine and products. Avoid direct sun exposure for at least half a year, preferably longer. You just got to understand your donor areas are limited. Take care dude, this is your hair after all, do your reasearch and always remember you might fix this now, you have very good potential at just 25 years of age to sustain and protect your hair. Yes, it costs money, a lot of money. I understand the Minoxidil alone is expensive on its own, the proper dermaroller is expensive, but you either spend that money and do the right thing or you can end up losing more hair, losing more hair from a safe zone and you might end up in a much worse situation down the road and spend all that "saved" money + more trying to return to what you once could have saved.

@@leandoer2581 I appreciate the reply! There are individuals who experience side effects from Minoxidil and Finasteride quite often (dizziness, nausea, etc.). There are also more severe occurrences of heart problems, erectile dysfunction, etc. I'll admit I haven't tried either of the applications but figured it wasn't worth the risk. I also knew once I started, I wouldn't want to get off since all progress made would be tarnished once I stopped. I completely agree with your analysis though. I guess in a certain sense I'd prefer getting another transplant than taking a drug with the possibility of short term/long term side effects. I may start Rogaine just to see if any side effects affect me, if so, I'll stop, if not I'll reconsider the continuation of the Rogaine. Thanks for the reply though, means alot!

@@nicohalverson4352 Well I hope it goes well for you, just keep an eye on what options you have right now, this is a cosmetical field and this is what people came up with recently. As of use of any drugs, that's completely on you, if you believe in something - that's your right and I respect that, it's just the studies that show the effeciency on the potential hair loss recovery, there are many more drugs and types of treatment you can also look up. Take care.
@leandoer2581
@leandoer2581 Год назад
@@nicohalverson4352 also wanted to say, that both ED and heart-related problems are mostly concerns of overusing the finasteride, I mean stupidly overusing, people are sometimes lazy even in fields directly related to their health. Just be minfull with what you do and you should be absolutely fine. Plus there are periods of active use and absence when it comes to any drugs, you can read some topics on that, too. But hair-loss is a chronic type of thing, Minoxidil is like 99% safe when used in form of spray or liquid and applied to scalp with a roller I don't think that might bring up any side effects, like at all. I believe you could work out a good recovery plan with your doc, let's say 3-4 months of therapy + minox applications and you could stop for the rest of this year just remember to take photos and compare side by side every couple weeks, so you could catch any symptoms of further hair loss and continue the therapy if needed.
@nicohalverson4352
@nicohalverson4352 Год назад
@@leandoer2581 I think I'll do that. It would obviously be most beneficial to apply Rogaine foam once a day, I think I led down one too many rabbit holes on the side effects and decided against it. Greatly appreciate the recommendations.
