I'm in the Lake District for episode 2 of Stills in Motion, and I've got a little new tripod. Hopefully the gopro wind noise isn't too annoying, I'm working on a fix.
Also a huge thank you to Lumix for sponsoring this video. I've been using the G9, G85 and the G90 for a long time now and the stabilisation in them is immense. Find out more here: www.panasonic.....

Bruh! I love these videos. I learn more from watching you spend the day working than any of the "Top 5 Tips" videos ever. Technique and style are so interesting I wish more RU-vid photographers were as transparent. Like I previously commented, it's like I get to hang with you and shoot photos. James, your videos are easily top 3 most entertaining photography centric vids on YT. Seriously, your personality, humor and honest connection with your viewers is second to none. So many other travel/adventure/landscape photography channels out there are over-the-top sugar coated, "inspirational" quote vomit extravaganzas that all seem fake and shallow. Never change buddy!

Particularly enjoyed the GoPro footage showing you identifying a potential image, how you shot it (high, low etc) and then the final results (love the colours). Also appreciated the tips re bracketing. You’re always entertaining but I sense your stills and motion series is taking the instruction element to the next level. Thank you. Really nice cave shot. Looking forward to seeing more from it. Actually I liked the wind sounds. They weren't that ear-wrecking and gave a sense of being there, what kinda fits to the adventure first theme. I still hope some day I will randomly be in one of your shots as "the tall guy with the bright jacket". Black / blue jackets are just way too boring.

It was the list type videos that brought me to your channel when I was smashing through YT videos to learn photography. But I enjoy your personality and perspective and I think that’s the most important thing. The YT photography genre is so oversaturated and I only watch a handful of channels now and I always watch your videos even without catchy titles because I know that “I bought a new tripod” is going to provide much more substance than “look at this tripod”. I just enjoy kind of going on the journey with you and hearing your perspective and enjoying your work, and I think that I can speak for all of the return viewers. This kind of video seems to be kore where you want your channel to go and I fully support that. 👍🏻

i once went to a wedding at Rydal Hall during a weekend of epic rain. On the sunday morning it took me 3 hours to get from Grasmere to the M6 due to trying to find a route round the flooded areas... all that and i forgot to get any gingerbread for the journey! I am momentarily intrigued by the bag, until i always remind myself that gamechanging bags often cost as much as a house and aren't as comfortable to sleep in...

Thanks for another great video. I loved the walk, commentary, 4 seasons weather and the finished images are so good. Your right, I kept thinking 'He has no bag with him, how is he managing? Has he got an alpaca fully laden hidden in the background? As for the wind noise, actually it added to the atmosphere of the nasty showers. I relate to your reactive run and gun style. A refreshing change from all those serious vloggers who have a preconceived shot in mind and the camera stays in the bag until they arrive at the predetermined view. Next we have to listen to them moan that the conditions are not ideal. I always think they have overlooked endless interesting opportunities en route. Your landscape with crow and vapour trail is a testimony to your approach.

Strange as it seems but sometimes the lack of sunshine creates amazing Landscapes, even in low light and rainy conditions. It is the eye behind the camera that makes the difference.

Great work again and yes, I did wonder about the lack of bag! I am really enjoying this format and am relieved that you have not gone all mute on us! :)

For filming with my G7x iii, I’ve got a Sirui 3T-35K, which looks similar to your Smallrig, but is all metal and extends around 6 inches, plus the legs fold out to give quite a long handle for vlogging. I use this all the time, when not using my Zhiyun Crane M2 gimbal.

Love this style of video James. Great selection of shots from the day too. Also to be honest the little bit of wind noise was actually fine, it worked with that moody weather haha

Hi James, I'm getting the G9 today and just wanted to let you know I'll keep a close eye on your channel for information and these entertaining vlogs. Man what a country, I live in the Netherlands and we do have some nice woods and beaches, but it's rather flat. Greetz

Sound was fine. A few moments of wind noise. But like the free hand landscaping, do plenty of that myself

Keep them coming James! I prefere this format all day long. Your explanation for all the "top 5/7" out there makes totally sense. In my world too much of one thing is never a good thing. There's so much squarespace and "top"ish titles now, that I just leave them unseen. There's a "same shit new wrapping" (except that the wrapping also is the "same shit". ( Maybe I just should call it , "same shit, same wrapping"?)) situation, so your braveness in making this format is a pleasure to watch!
