There are people on here doing it DIY. I'm not a doctor, but really bad idea, considering possible occlusion, infection and, at the very least, looking like a DIY RU-vidr with a crooked face.
@@worktvk Exactly. And usually the lighting is way more flattering in the afters. Harsh Top and side lighting make everyone look awful; gentle front lighting with diffused side - lighting makes people look great. I mean, it's oversimplified here, but imagine shooting someone at high noon and how awful they'll look.
please keep lighting and angle in mind. also the after shots seem taken after the procedure which can at times limits the level of face muscle movement that's why in the before shot she smiles bigger than the after shot. thanks for coming to my Ted Talk. bye.
yo I didn't even notice but yeah it looks more streamlined and upturned. that is a definite covetable side adjustment, outside of the actual threadlift!
She was beautiful before. And I didn’t see much of a difference after. Love yourself. You are not flawed in any way. I wish society didn’t shame aging, so we didn’t do crazy things to ourselves for temporary minor changes. I wish she posted a follow up.
Same. They really down play it. Do you remember which day the pain was totally gone? I'm on day two and look like a chipmunk. But I have to admit it really shaped my face so beautifully. Would I do it again? No. The risk potential and pain scare me. I totally underestimated the procedure
Thank you for taking your time to answer. Well I hope at least you were happy with the look. I am personally not sure if the pain warrants a repeat in the future. Hoping milder technologies take over.
Imma be honest, I went and looked at the beginning and then the after and I couldn't really tell a difference... not enough for me to go get it myself. She's gorgeous regardless and I think it's so sad that people don't see the beauty and wisdom and power in excepting themselves aging facially.
Nah you’re good lol. But in all seriousness.... Don’t know you. Don’t need to. You’re fine, hun. Unless getting it is solely for you and would truly benefit you medically, physically,or emotionally ...you don’t need it. Just remember that. Even if you want it and get it..you don’t need it.
WE👏🏼NEED👏🏼TO👏🏼EMBRACE👏🏼BEAUTY👏🏼OVER👏🏼40👏🏼 One of the many reasons women don’t see ourselves beautiful after a certain age is the fact that older women are not enough represented on media. Women, let’s love our wrinkles, let’s love our curves, the way our skin age, the way our bodies mature. It’s just life and it’s beautiful ✨
I totally agree. I'm 60-years old, and of course have whined about my sags and bags and wrinkles, but I'm determined now to embrace aging and start being grateful for the wisdom the years have given me, not to mention I can now call everyone "Honey" with abandon! What's been true for me, and I'm sure is true for many older ladies, is the pleasure and relief of not trying to live up to some impossible standard of beauty and reveling in being myself with all my quirks. There is great freedom in aging.
@@friendoftherese1 that is what I have always thought it would be like to age 😊 what a lovely feeling! I sometimes get tangled in the pressure of having big lips or no expression lines, we have to remind ourselves every wrinkle on our faces carries wisdom and the memories of many great experiences !
Yea but if they wanna look even better its fine!! Let ppl do what they want with their body.. some ppl like long hair, some dont.. doesnt mean they dont love their hair. Everyone’s different 🤷🏻♀️
@@bbygrlpt2 I agree with you! I just think these types of videos can make people feel insecure for having a bit of lose skin or minor issues when normally they would not even be thinking about it. Are we doing these procedures for us or for society?
I'm all for doing what you feel like and I'm open to this kind of not super invasive procedures to myself. Still I think it's kind of sad her statements of how she was not "feeling like herself" and after she recognized"herself again. It's such an indicator of us as a society not accepting aging (specially for women) like that IS yourself just and older version... We should be able to accept that more ..
I did see a difference, but I’m not sure it was worth the procedure. When I first saw her talking, my first thought was that she was pretty and seemed to be aging gracefully. I wonder what the long term effects of procedures like this will look like.
My questions would be 1 Can you see a faint raise of the thread under the skin? 2 Once the bands dissolve after a year does it all fall back down and one must repeat the procedure annually? 3 The cost? And does the cost of having to redo it every 1 to 2 years surpass having a full lower face lift that I would assume, if one takes very good care of themselves in terms of nutrition and exercises, rest, etc. lasts longer?
Friendly reminder that your face will never look the same as it did years ago. It’s more important to accept & love how you look ALWAYS ❤️ Plastic surgery isn’t a solution for ‘feeling like yourself again’- To feel ‘like yourself’ is to love who you are.
i don't think i'll ever get plastic surgery either but it's also important to not understate clearly how happy this woman was with her procedure. however *you* think she should feel, she clearly is more happy with how she looks afterwards. there's nothing wrong with wanting to feel young again. this could seriously change her outlook and improve her self esteem.
@@sth5033 yes! but.. tbh i kinda didn't like how the doctor in the beginning pointed out what was "wrong" with her (apples of the cheek sagging, etc.) oh well. i guess business is business.
I am a surgeon and just saw a couple weeks ago an infection from this. The patient lost half of his jaw due to necrosis of the skin. She then needed a flap surgery and its now pretty much disfigured. Is it worth the risk? I don’t think so. Plus, going so near the facial nerve blindly, its never a good idea.
@@romanaabo3664 Sorry, but as far as that is concerned, it does not matter either way. Plenty of surgeons (including one who has done multiple surgeries on me which are not cosmetic, but he does cosmetic surgeries as well) do NOT tell the truth or have the patient’s best interest in mind. To many, you are walking potential $$$ and nothing more. Of course that also goes for other professions out there, but it is especially high ranking in the surgical profession. Surgeons supposedly are one of the highest ranking professions for psychopathic individuals. Take it from someone who has been there, done that: it’s wise to be careful when considering a surgery. To do your research as all surgeries are life-altering in some form and often permanent. Obviously the surgeon who commented above actually cares about her patient’s lives, so thank GOD for her! ❤️
@@SW-oy5zw I think plastic surgeons who work at hospitals get paid a monthly salary, as opposed to those performing cosmetic surgeries? Either way, as they often work on restoring people's looks, like cancer/burn/assault/maul/etc.victims, I think they particularly have patients' best interest in mind. It's their passion to help get the best results.
She looked pleased and happy with the results! I feel so happy for her, beauty has no definition. I like to think its a feeling, and she definitely looked like she was feeling herself after, so good for her:0
I've been thinking to do this, but honestly, I couldn't see any difference on her face after going through that painful procedure. And all these treatments cost a fortune. Yes, I think what I should change is my thinking. Be confident while aging gracefully.
I tried this procedure when I hit 40, which was a year ago. I felt my face was a bit flaccid so I went for it thinking it was a nice option, and given the fact that it wouldn't be permanent. I thought it would last a year as advertised, but it only lasted 2 months tops... It hurts a lot when that canula is passing through the cheeks even with the anesthesia. I had 2 threads on each side, and the knots where visible for like 2 weeks or more, giving a wrinkled effect on the area. Do not recommend.
@@msptstatus nope. I realized that my face skin needed a lot more hydration and the products from The Ordinary made a major improvement on my skin and my self-esteem. I do not feel the need to go under similar procedures in the near future.
Stop telling woman over 35 that they need to look “young” to look beautiful! It’s harmful and unnecessary. Society needs a facelift on its damn beauty standards. From embracing body shapes, skin shades and aging to cutting certain terms like “anti-aging”, “youthful”, etc. We aren’t children anymore, let beauty grow with age damn!
@@mstyles2667 Yup! Studies show that age-attraction-preference in women stays consistent with their age (as in, 20 yr old women look for 20 yr old men, 40 yr old women for 40 yr old men) whereas men’s attraction stays at 20 regardless of their own age!
Absolutely 💯...I wasted my 30s and 40s feeling old and washed up...damn near 60 and wishing I had enjoyed my younger years while I still had them. I hear other 30 year old women claiming to be old and I tell them to please enjoy their youth.
Her face doesn't look as puffy and her nose appears to sit higher. Her upper cheek looks fuller with the slight position change. This procedure seems great for slight changes due to how minimally invasive it is.
For all of those condemning procedures don’t have one. For those of you who like to look your best, it’s available and you can afford it, go for it! I’m 61. The last few years were really aging me. I just want to look in the mirror, smile and like what I see. You only have one short life so why not if you choose to touch up nature.
Loved what you wrote. Beauty is misunderstood. It's all about empowerment... feel good about yourself . Just like eating right, exercise, having a hair cut, facial. More happiness hormone is released. Of course no one is forcing anyone. It's your choice. Go for it if you want otherwise leave it without condemning. Cheers!
It is sad that people don't accept the aging process and say stuff like 'I don't recognise myself anymore'. Yes, you won't be 20 forever, move on. You have so many traits that define you.
Yeah life is the definition of change. You may not look a certain way anymore, your personality may change in the coming years. You may change. Accept that. Its beautiful. We all change theoughout life in many ways, why is it the physical that scares us the most. Most important thing is that you, are you. And that in itself is enough to love.
Yes, its pretty damn hard to accept ageing for women when everywhere we look there are young models selling stuff, in movies the “hot” women are below 30, you read in all forum threads how men only want girls not older than 25 years old
I admire these woman! Going through these painful procedure just for looking better! Good skincare, good body shape though work out, good humor, has a kind heart, that is more than anybody can ask from a woman
this was even freakier than when I can see the inside of the face for some reason, especially when you could see the tool pushing from the inside to the outside of her face
Having thread lift for twice by now, and everything went well and worth each cents! I'm happy to see someone not celebrity thinks preserving beauty is worth the price. I was thinking; am I the only one non - celebrity who worried about aging and put an extra effort to stay well? I think it's OKAY that any woman wants to feel younger and great, and as long as they are able financially, nothing wrong to pursue youthfulness.

It’s crazy how she said she feels like herself after getting a procedure, it’s saddening to know that women look at THEMSELF and not feel like THEMSELF no amount of work done can change the fact that she like many women put youth on pedestal as if aging isn’t a natural part of life.
I like the approach of this surgeon. Se does not impose what she wants to do to the client and talks to her on her level without the snobbery so many surgeons have!
I respect everyone’s right to do whatever they want to their body . However I have to say we should just be happy looking our age and experiencing every single moment of our lives . When you’re 10 look 10 , when you’re 25 look 25 and when you’re 80 let’s look bloody 80. We are all going to die someday !!!!!!
Amplifying procedures like this to your overwhelmingly young female audience with absolutely no mention of: 1) potential complications/risks...such as, off the top of my head: ultimately exacerbating skin stretching, threads snapping before they dissolve, potential for nerve or muscular damage? 2) cost 3) how often it needs to be redone to maintain results reads very native advertising to me & is frankly wildly irresponsible on Refinery29’s part. I am also exhausted by this convoluted narrative of empowerment through plastic surgery when all you are doing is bending over backwards to meet patriarchal beauty standards because you’ve internalized that your value rests largely in how conventionally attractive you are (which means aging is the ultimate Bad given the current status quo) if you wanna get work done that’s absolutely your right, but simply & straight up it is never just for you- that’s just not the nature of external appearances when you live in a ~society~ no hate to the women in the video, i just think Refinery29 is gross for this type of harmful messaging. we get enough of it in the media already, more is not needed.
Please do a little research and understand the material used in the threads; you could no more easily “ snap” or break them than you could a fishing line...Did you see any facial skin stretching ? No, you didn’t because the “ mature “ skin is simply repositioned with support to it’s original /youthful placement ; this procedure yields subtle results.
So nice to see someone else with a functioning brain who THINKS about things. ALL these things are very true and very valid. They whitewash all plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures and never report about the millions of women/men who are harmed by these 'harmless' procedures every year. Something as 'simple' as filler can completely destroy your face, cause you to go blind and who knows what else but they NEVER mention this stuff. Kudos.
@@nicholettej1742 your actually wrong :/ certain parts can desolve faster due to the bodies natural reaction to foreign bodies, it doesnt matter how strong it is before it goes in. and yes these can, have, and will continue to cause future cases of nerve damage. they dont always, especially if theyre done right. but they can, in fact, cause nerve damage. and they CAN come untied, which is whats suspending them in the first place.
y'all gotta let people do what they wanna do to themselves without harassing them or saying "ur beautiful the way you are! don't do it!". i'm literally gonna get lips fillers when i'm able. why? because one side is uneven. i've never told anybody besides 2 people that i'm gonna do it and neither of em told me to not do it. i'm not making them bigger, just evening them out. a persons beauty choices are not yours. calm down everyone.
I think that most of the people saying that are very young and haven't experienced their looks changing. I'm over 50 and, just like the lady in the video, I recently realized that "I don't look like myself". For over 50 years, I didn't have these deep "laugh lines" and now I do and I don't like them. I just recently learned about this procedure and I think that I'm going to do it. Enjoy your new beautiful lips!

Many comments here saying that women over 40 need to learn to love and accept themselves. When I was in my 30’s ...I used to hear my mom constantly saying “Getting old sucks” every time she did her makeup . Every time she did her hair...every morning...”getting old sucks! Specially for women!” . I used to think...uhmmm she is negative, she is insecure. Guess what? I am now in my mid 40’s and I look great for my age... no wrinkles, no lines, hardly any large pores...but I do have some sagging on my face..and loss of volume. And I HATE every time I do my makeup! My happy mood, my positive personality, my happiness...does not show on my face! I’m happy and energetic but my resting face doesn’t show that! I want my face to match my personality. Plastic surgery for many people is gesture of self love. Stop judging others.... for loving themselves through plastic surgery.
I did this 6 weeks ago for my neck, not my face. 6 LIfting threads not barbed ones, but the newer ones that still catch but without sharp barbs, they're softer but still have the lifting effect and about 20 smooth threads. I really like the result though the recovery was more of a pain in the ass than expected and for a couple weeks I wasn't sure if it was worth it. But now that things have calmed down I'm really happy with it. It's a very subtle difference not in a way that someone would say "what did you do to your neck?" and exactly what I wanted because I was only really sagging in one small place and it absolutely picked it up. It's still my skin, I still look my age but it took away some of the excess. There was only a little bit to pick up anyway. This was more for me and for my wedding pictures next month not something others would notice. TBD how long it lasts but I'm really glad I did it for my wedding. I also got a discount through a friend so I can't say for everyone that it's the best financial decision and you definitely need a really good practitioner. It was a bit uncomfortable but with the lidocaine and laughing gas I was pretty much fine. Pain came later but only for a few days and then just off and on for 6 weeks.
my mum did this procedure with the age of 70. she is very tough but it hurt she told me. But she is super super happy with the results, feels more like herself when she looks in the mirror. and I think, that is all that matters
This lady was beautiful even before the thread lift, honestly. But, whatever makes someone feel better about themselves, I'm all for it. She looks amazing.
I look in the mirror and think, when did all of these external changes occur? But I love and am grateful for who I am and continue to become from within!
I was done when she started playing marionette with her face, holy crap. Having said that, I’ll definitely start saving up to have this done when I hit 40 lol
I don't know how I feel about this. Beauty ages as we do. It may not be the youthful fresh look we once had but that's what life is. Embracing the new and unknown and making the best out of it. You can still be beautiful at 40 or beyond. I don't think it's healthy to try to maintain a level of youthfulness that you've already lived. This kind of procedure perpetuates the idea that the ideal beauty standard will be forever young.
She looks great in the before and after images. Did the treatment included the nose? I think the new nose is what makes the difference. She look beautiful and happy.
In Europe they do face lift with thread made of Gold so the lift would last much longer and avoid infection. Friend of mine did this procedure in Russia about 8 years ago and she still looking good.
She is really looking so good at before . Why Do people go for artificial beauty , literally she got a gorgeous smile I love it when she smile before surgery . I hope people find beautiful the way they are
I hear that people say it doesn't last as long as advertised. It's more temporary then they're told. I researched this as I was thinking about doing it. Some people said it only lasted weeks to a few months. I don't think it's worth it unless you have money to do every month or 2. But then you need to worry about long-term effects of constant treatments. I believe it's said that it causes a lot of scar tissues build-up under the skin and at some point this procedure shouldn't be your go-to anymore. I wish I could afford the vertical restore which is a real full on face lift. But it's very expensive. As far as face lifts go, it looks the most natural.
I want this done so badly! It accomplishes everything I want, without surgery. I really love that it isn't permanent, so if you don't like the results they can be changed.
She was so much more naturally beautiful before the procedure. People in their 30s and 40s shouldn't look like they're 21. It's sad that she doesn't see how NATURALLY gorgeous she is. As a 43 year old woman, I still see myself and feel beautiful. No, my face isn't as youthful as it was when I was 20 but I'm not 20, I'm middle aged and I love it.
LOL there is barely a difference! Definitely not enough to look "so much more" beautiful before OR after. Is your aim to make her feel bad about getting it done now?
The B/A for this suck. Ive had PDO threads placed all over my face and neck. They really are kinda amazing! Im 37, my skin is admittedly in great shape, im an RN/esthetician and take extremely good care of my skin. So the improvements I noticed were small but significant for me. My goal is to maintain my skin health so that I wont ever need a facelift... until I do lol Lasering, Ultherapy, peels, botox, filler are all amazing treatments 💗
No one ever NEEDS a facelift. It (as well as everything else you mentioned) is a personal CHOICE to fit perceived societal beauty standards. Plus, I really don't see how any of these (except maybe peels) actually benefit the skin health.
I love the way I look. I am in my 60s. I am slender and fit. I wear no makeup. I have long white and gray hair. I would NEVER allow anyone to operate on my face or the rest of my body. The most important thing is that I am healthy and exercise regularly. My body has served me very well in life including giving birth. So sad that people are so narcissistic these days. ZOOM has just made things worse. She looks at herself all day. Ugh.
How are her eyes 'brighter' when no procedure was done to them? I agree with the other comments: accept your face aging. I have seen people roll back the clock from therapy alone.
I am a 23-year-old woman who is afraid of growing old and in love with herself. I have already added anti-aging products to my skin care, but to be honest, I know that aging is an inevitable law of nature. The woman in the video was beautiful before this procedure, even though I could not see a difference, she was beautiful afterwards too. Speaking for myself, I probably wouldn't even consider having it done in the future because it looks so painful, but the most important thing is to feel comfortable in one's own skin, so I totally understand why this stunning woman would want such a thing. I’m happy for her.
A mini facelift will not address the middle of the face the way this procedure appears to do. A more invasive facelift, like a mid face lift would have to be done. Minis only really address the jawline. I have had two now so I know the limits.
Aging is literally the visual confirmation that your life is beginning to end. You have got to be joking to say it’s “weird” how people can’t accept that.
Two most intrinsic truths about life is, 1. Change and 2. Death. Both are inevitable. Stop being afraid of it and embrace it. Only then could you find true peace. Anyway, i hope that if looking a certain way makes you smile more then i am totally rooting for you.:)
