I went to court over ticket one time. The District Attorney himself, walked in and said "Anybody with a traffic ticket has to attend driving school and you're tickets will be dropped. We have too much worse crap to deal with, to be bothered with this"

I didn't even have to watch this video to know that it was in DC/VA area

These kind of mandatory arrest thresholds make no sense.

I swear we should change the speed limits for highways already. The only reason we have these low speed limits are for revenue cash cows for states and counties.

Damn lol. Same here. I got lasered doing 71mph in a 35mph in my Camaro ZL1 in a speed trap about two years ago. Waze didn't show anything and the radar detector is obviously useless against laser. He gave me the ticket, threw it on my lap, and walked away. Waited an anxious 3 months constantly checking with the ticket clinic, and he never ended up putting the ticket in the system 😅

1 cop driving the Lexus. 1 cop in the cruiser. 1 cop driving the puke wagon. THREE cops taken offline to process a speeding ticket. WTF

I immediately knew this was VA/DC/MD. They will pull you out the vehicle, beat you twice, arrest you then ask you how fast you were going.

As Georgetown University is one of my clients, I am extremely familiar with that stretch of road. I’ve never really thought about it before but it does have its own unique sound being an elevated concrete highway and the echoes off the adjacent buildings. It’s feels like it’s meant for 70-80mph which I’m guilty of myself. I can also attest to the fact that if that officer continues to set up radar there and step out into traffic, he will have a short career. Never thought to look for an officer there so thanks for the heads up and thanks for sharing. I could literally feel and hear Whitehurst freeway while listening to your story!

So you went to Virginia, got out of Virginia safely, and then got caught speeding... pretty ironic! Also, thank you for the warning, I have always assumed that Whitehurst, an elevated highway with no shoulders, is not a place where an police officer would risk a stop. So I may have accidentally exceeded 35 by just a little. I will be more cautious now.

I drive this road at least once per month...I know where he is coming from. And this is exactly how DC and Northern VA police are about speeding, sadly

The Whitehurst Freeway isn't a freeway. It's only purpose is to bypass Georgetown. It isn't even a mile long and it dead ends at M Street. By the time you get up to speed, if you even can because of traffic, it's almost time to slow down again. All these videos are funny but I never feel bad since it boils down to: I was being reckless and irresponsible and got into trouble.

I recently got a 70 Euro fine for 21km/h over speedlimit. I was going 101km/h in an 80km/h highway area. joke is: there are no signs for 80km/h. the city the highway is passing there just decides that it is 80km/h, didnt change any streetsigns BUT changed the law and now fine everyone going 100km/h there, which is the speedlimit. No issue you would say, right? I mean just get a lawyer. heh, the thing is, thats 70 Euro penalty - No lawyer gives a fuck. and soo they keep on scamming people there because no one can do jack shit.

My only speeding ticket that i’ve gotten is 55 in a 40 lol went to court and cop didnt show up, court dropped the charge😇😇

Im glad a channel with a million subs is getting stories like this. Driving in DC is a joke. The tickets are predatory. So much so that an AAA article told people to NOT drive there and that they are so many tickets given out, it accounts for about 300 million dollars a year. You may say: "Well why don't you slow down?" Well that's where the predatory part comes in. They lower speed limits and place speed cameras all over the city. They say its for "Safety." I ask: What's safer? Keeping traffic moving on a highway? Or having people slam on their brakes when the highway goes from 55 to 40? Its all a money scam and I wish there was a way to fight this stuff. Not all of us can be lucky enough to have our lawyer be part of the cool kids club at law school and get off with driving school.

I got popped at 64 in a 30, I heard the siren before I saw the cop and was pulled over on the side of the road when he came around to corner. He had me out with my hands on the back of my ‘89 Mustang. Turns out the two guys in the police car were “high speed pursuit unit” and they said they thought 100% I was going to lead chase because I just did something illegal. I told him I drive like that because it’s fun and I’m good at it. They actually let me walk with nothing. I did look stupid at the back of my car with my Hawaiian shirt, burkinstocks, & sunglasses looking like I was about to get cuffed.

Got pulled over doing 98 in a 55. While talking to the wife on the phone I saw the lights come on and said I'm going to jail and hung up. Cop was cool I explained I was tired from working 16 hours and didn't realize how fast I was going. Wrote me a straight ticket no reckless. Went to court and that day if you had no offenses in the previous three years they were letting you off with court cost. I jumped up first in line for that deal.

I live in DC and very well aware of the "freeway", it's a half a mile (yes, 0.5mi) elevated stretch that has pedestrians and bicyclists crossing it non-stop on one end and it becomes a regular city street (K st) on the other end. I've gone maybe 50mph on it but 71mph would take an effort and a 300+ ponies engine. Also that's an area with multimillion dollars tiny row houses so it's well policed. Also, for reference DC has adopted Vision Zero and is very serious about speeding. I got a ticket for merging into traffic at 37mph, in 25mph zone when everyone was going 35mph. So that's DC driving for you.

1. I didn't think it was physically possible to go 70 on the Whitehurst Freeway. 2. I'm convinced that DC keeps its freeway speed limits artificially low because its cheaper than just maintaining the roads properly.

So this guy was doing double the speed limit, with a car without license plate... Even though I don’t quite understand the US justice system’s obsession with jails and prisons, pulling him over and a hefty fine is well deserved. I would even consider revoking his license, as he seems to be ignorant about the basic legal rules of driving a car... but 8 hours of driving school is also reasonable on the low end of the spectrum, if he had a clean record before.

My dads favorite saying is the cops make a point out of punishing honest people. They can't collect as easily from dishonest people.

After the third "Quite Literally ", I stopped watching.

I was arrested for expired registration, it expired at 12:00 am and I was pulled over at 1:00am. It was a used 85 toyota celica that i bought for 600$ earlier that day. I spent 2 days in jail and paid 450$ bail to get out. No criminal history or record of any kind, I just happened to be 19yr old and had a smart mouth :)

I once brought the DC Critical Mass bicycle riders on that Whitehurst. It was evening rush hour, but we were going the opposite way which is the reverse commute direction. All the cars sitting in commuter traffic were waving and honking for us from the opposite side of the road. No arrests that evening😃

i got stopped 96 in a 65. NYS troopers vary. Pulled out of the car, searched, thoe whole deal. Asked where i was going. Why so fast? Where i was. Gave me a ticket for 75 in 65. BUT GOT 3 POINTS ON MY LICENSE. Rip insurance.

I've got so many stories of being stopped by the police. I decided to do my own Cannonball/goldRush run back in 1976, before they were a thing. I wanted to see how fast I could drive from my home in Ventura to Riverside where I would see my grandma, and friends. I was stopped 3 times, One officer let me go, the other two wrote me tickets, one for like 70 which was nice as I was doing well over 100. The third, I was doing 120 through Diamond Bar, but I saw the cop, and slowed down, he gave me a ticket for 80. Somehow they screwed up, and I went to traffic school on both, so basically got away scot free except for the time in traffic school which was also a story in itself, both teachers let us go way early so we spent like 5 hours instead of 8. lol Talk about luck!

That dude is sooooooo lucky he was so well connected. I live in the DC/VA area and I have seen some horrendous sentences handed out for speeding. I have a friend who have had their lives ruined by a speeding charge. And in the area, unless your connected, your screwed.

"Driven quite rapidly by the officer" that's the part that pisses me off. I've followed or seen so many police officers going well above the speed limit and nothing is ever said to them. I'm not talking officers responding to anything I'm talking cops just driving down the road doing 70mph in 45-55mph just because they can. I was driving home from work one night, don't remember the exact time, but it was probably pretty late because the I-95 was empty and that's not common. Anyway I had a 65 mile one way commute and was about 10 miles into it and was since the road was empty I was cruising at +7 over in the fast lane. As I'm driving this car comes up behind me and just keeps getting closer and closer until they are so close I can't see their headlights. I slowed down a little to see if they would just pass but nope so finally after a couple miles I did a quick brake tap. I was driving an E320 CDI at the time and something about a Mercedes makes people really really not want to rear end you so it had the desired effect along with the undesired effect of blues suddenly flashing. So I pull over and the officer jumps out with his pistol drawn and is yelling at me "Are you trying to kill me? Are you trying to kill me? to which I calmly responded "No sir didn't you see that deer?" At that point he was caught. He knew he was driving way way too close and shouldn't have been doing that and he didn't know if there was a deer or not. So he said "well you should pull over when someone is behind you instead of staying in the fast lane." I said Oh sorry about that" and that was that. He never even asked for my license or nothing. Just got back in his car and took off. I pulled in behind him and I was doing 15 over and he pulled away from me like I wasn't moving, he went a couple exits up and turned off, think he was heading home, I dropped it back to 7mph over and continued home.

This past Sunday I think I became one of the luckiest 20yr olds alive I was doing 135mph and past a good ole blue charger and said well I’m done for when cop walked up to window and got my license he said “oh your only 20” I said yes sir he sat in his car for 40 mins and came back and said I’m giving you a ticket for only going 60 in a 55 and said he liked my car mind I drive a 2006 gutted out among other things, crown Vic p71. I got very lucky that day

I once got arrest after going 91 but I was on suspended license so I had to go to jail for that. Cop acted like i would have got to leave if I had a license. It was 21 over the limit.

I've flown down that freeway so fast many times because of that sound, and there is no place for cops to hide/park.

I got arrested for speeding in a clapped out f150 with a 2v 4.6l... they said I was racing in it. It was stock, exhaust chopped of because I was too broke to get one. Was going 75 in a 50.

I remember once, allegedly doing 75 in a 45 construction zone between Chicago and Milwaukee (aka, America's Autobahn), getting I/O and him not even moving from his spot. This happened some time between 7-10pm too, so he was well hidden on the side of the road.
