Hello 👋
Welcome to Sam Shutt Farming, daily life on the Hill farm
This is Sam and Oliver plus 4 children farming beef sucklers and sheep in the North Yorkshire/Cumbria border area.
We are first-generation farmers, and we've had no help at all to get to where we are now. We are here to show you our life and what we do. I am also here to show new entrance that it is possible to start from scratch. Being strong-willed, determined, and a lot of hard work, you can do it.
We are both from farming backgrounds. I grew up on a family dairy farm. Milking from a very young age.Working for my uncle when i left school. I've learnt everything from him and grown ever since. I met Oliver when I was 16 he was 15. We started with a few sheep when we met and have built up over the 16 years to where we are now. We took on a 500-acre hill farm in 2019, currently 5 years into the tenancy.
Also, here to show people women can be useful in the agricultural world.😉😁

I used to be a foot trimmer don’t want to knock someone else’s work but its not how i would have done it. Each to there own though

how you doing lovely. decent weather . one smiley sam. you aint got any air con have you. you just answered my question. lol. plenty of cold drinks. i know air con can play up and is costly to fix. but on days like this its a must. poor hot sam. patience paid off with the pony . nice one sam. bully with the crap foot. the foot machine , yes costly but slightly better than getting smashed up . manicure for mr bully. my what big feet you have mr bully. natural causes , whod of thought it. good man simon. like a vet and foot trimmer. loads of experience and knowledge. just as it was all going okay . a bog appeared. in june. does it never dry up . what a arse. catch you next time for the pull out , and probably a ouch for doing it.

Well done on getting more bailing done with good ground under you. You will need to fit a baby seat to the tractor to take the new one with you.

Oops you done it again with the buggy! Is it too boggy to use a tractor to pull it out? Great to see the bull getting first class attention. The pony has settled in nicely and got used to you all. Definitely time to get that baby out. All the best.

£60 a roll we get 30 bales a roll so £2 a bale to wrapp and we make around 1000 plus a year

@@Sam-shutt Yeah sorry, I mean on top of the iodine, watch hoof GP and he puts tissue on the iodine mix. I use a cow patch, you can but em from a farm supplier like Coars, then throw the bandage on over it

Happy u still have the bull but why did u at the end of Tuesday video show us a bull that was same colour but no horns and no nose ring It seemed like u was taking us for fools so we naturally assumed bully was no more ,also if u thought the bull had a broken leg no way should u have considered dragging the bull in to the trailer the way u did U should have got the vet out to the bull and if the leg was broke the vet could have put it down Then u could have dragged it into the trailer, ps, would putting it down have prevented it going to the abattoir.???

They have 2 bulls. The one with no ring and no horns is the second bull with the other cows

There's been no secret that they've got two bulls , it's been mentioned frequently on the channel, the bulls lived together all through the winter. You can't expect the channel to take into account the fact that someone is slow on the uptake , if she has to repeat the same things over and over it will get boring for the people that watch the channel regularly.

think i would have given the bull a jab whilst he was in the crush ........so easy to do whilst he's in there.......sure he will get better soon .......i watch adverts on t.v about women's makeup and they talk about shite like hyalaronic Acid.......and i think to myself why would you put Acid on your face. i was a bit worried for your safety when you put the strap on your quad too high up (above the height of your wheels i mean)....the quad could have ended up going ass over tit with you on it.......always attach the tow rope to the tow hitch the same with tractors.....look after yourself sam
