The cicada sounds really just go with that Summer vibe. We have them where I live and they're just background noise to me. I'll take cicada sounds over someone with a loud engine announcing to the whole neighborhood they're driving a car 🤣

My sense of hearing is pretty good, according to my age, except from a few frequencies, at which I can hear barely nothing. Funny enough, on of them is the frequency, cicadas produce. I do not hear a single one of them. No joke.😂They don't bother me at all. 👍

They are very very loud this year I notice. I know they ARE loud, but they feel like they're on steroids this year, here in Las Vegas and there in Japan from all the videos I've heard them in. I always liked cicadas sounds, but this year they're particularly deafening. It's a bit much.

I think in the USA that would mean that an awful lot of tax dollars coming from places like California and New York that usually go to places like Mississippi and Alabama would end up just staying in their states of origin... lol. The deep south would go bankrupt halfway through the year, they always spend more federal tax dollars than they contribute.
@ProtoMarcus

In Australia (and some other country I don't remember) they get a report of where your taxes has been invested, it is fantastic to see where the money goes. using that concept, it would be nice indeed to get to choose what % of your taxes you want to see your money going to

I can't believe I hadn't heard about this from other RU-vidrs in Japan, that sounds like such a good system! Taxes are distributed from more densely populated areas to more rural ones that may need it, government basically buys goods from all of those local businesses participating, and then the people participating get a fun incentive to pay early and get free gifts of their choice. And those free gifts aren't like cheap stuff either, all of them looked pretty fresh and high quality (that frying pan in particular looked quite nice plus the extra burger patties with the A5 Wagyu). You can even indicate what you want your taxes to go to, like if you know somewhere you've been needs it or have friends from elsewhere that tell you about it.

This whole pay early, spread your taxes around, get a gift thing seems pretty smart and a good way to spread taxes to less populated areas. And make paying taxes if not fun, at least more pleasant...?? What a concept. I would absolutely do this for tasty regional food gifts arriving in the mail randomly but I live in the usa so it's just tedious bullsht sadly. :/ Godspeed with all the 934587394573947 cicadas... may your ears catch a break at some point!

I had seen plenty of Japanese films which had the overwhelming sound of Cicadas in the background, but I just never thought of it as being real. One experience that really stands out is that I was wandering around the area south of the Imperial Palace and I came across Atago Shrine (very easy to find on Google Maps in the heart of Tokyo) and the wall of sound from the Cicadas in the trees was unbelievable.
