Bro don't keep black and blue or I can say different types of shrimps together .if you do they will interbreed and they will not be pure breed.and after 6-7months they will become color less shrimps.likr their wild brothers

I see the ramshorn shells show the signs of softer water. Glassgarten Mineral Junkie works great for shrimp and snails, keeps their shells harder and helps with molting. I have more shrimplets if I use Bacter AE regularly, maybe it lets the parents know food is available?

The blue shrimp’s jumping is sometimes called by people the “zoomies”, it happens when u dont drip acclimate long enough and they get shocked of your new water parameters. They usually dont die but it can be stressful

I would love to know about them. Can any aquarium keep a clam healthy? What tank mates are ok? Of course my husband already thinks my shrimp are dinner size! 🦐 The snails, escargot 🐌. I think he might start melting the butter and garlic if I got a clam too 😜

You should try rabbit snails that are stunning and they are so interesting they come in all different colors and patterns and they breed you would get one every year, they are just stunning check them out

Hi MD Not sure if it has been mentioned but if you want to speed up the mating process in shrimp, give them a purely protein-based diet. I'm sure the food you feed is of high quality with loads of protein already but in my experience, when I had a heavy hand with bloodworms in my tanks, my shrimp populations TRIPLED. Apparently, the protein helps the females produce the eggs and it also helps the males produce their sperm, a lot faster than usual. In your tanks, you would remove a dead shrimp so as to avoid any kind of ammonia spike but in nature, the dead shrimp get eaten by their own kind (massive amounts of protein and calcium) and that leads to the next generation being produced. Just a suggestion, maybe it works for you as well.

I realized that blue neocardina shrimp can never be happy as they are always down bc blue = sadness usually. Thus I now must only keep the yellow shrimp.

You could also cut the sponge in half from the existing filters and add half to the new filter and replace with half of the sponge from the new filter so they will be seeded instantly and the new bits of sponge will get seeded quicker as well If that makes sense

I fed mine the same kind of food, it's amazing and doesn't muck up the tank, I've also read that if you leave in what they don't eat right away the microflora grows on it and eat that as well. You have some really nice ones. Also may have killifish babies soon!!

Curious on that part saw you using air tube suck it to drip the tank water slowly to the package of the shrimp. Is to slowly let the shrimp adjust the water from the tank they going to place inside? So when is the time u than can put the shrimp inside the tank after dripping? I saw you just only take the shrimp out from the plastic put straight inside the tank without those water inside the plastic bag. Hope you understand my question thanks.

What fertilizer do you use for shrimps? Ive heard most are bad for shrimps.

Most are shrimp safe, only thing to check is that there isn’t too much copper in there. Invertebrates and copper don’t mix. (Shouldn’t be an issue with the micro doses in most fertilizers, though. More important when it comes to meds)

I have an 8l aqvarium just for schrimps, the water stood for two months, I did everything right. My water parameters are also all as they should be, I feed them every two days and don't put too much food, but they still find themselves dying one by one every day. If there is someone who can explain to me why, and what I am doing wrong.

Hey! Can I ask you some questions please? I already have 54 litre aquarium but I wanted to try something new so I was thinking about buying some smaller aquarium for shrimps. So I wanted to ask how many litres do your aquariums for shrimps have? What is the best shrimp for beginners? What do you feed them with? Flakes for fish probably won’t be enough. Sometimes I give them these frozen plankton food from pet stores (maybe once a week). What filter is the best for shrimp aquarium? What breed of snails do you have in that aquarium with shrimps? Do they reproduce fast? If yes, how can you make them not to reproduce? Honestly I don’t want shrimp aquarium full of snails haha. Do they need some hides in their aquarium or will lots of plants be enough? How big do shrimps get? Thank you so much if you or someone else will answer my questions. I will really appreciate it. I live in Hawaii and you can’t buy shrimp here... or killifish, or bristle nose plecos, about once a year you can buy cardinals but they are $10 each. No cool snails....big sad🥺

Here's a tip on how to jump start a new tank with sponge filter... Take an already established sponge filter and squeeze out/clean off the sponge into the new tank. As long as the water is dechlorinated, it won't disturb the beneficial bacteria living in the sponge. Basically you're adding a bunch of beneficial bacteria by squeezing out the sponge into the new tank. Also you can keep sponges in other tanks for a spare sponge, this way all you'd have to do is grab a sponge and put it into the new tank, BOOM already cycled tank.

I have now also set up a new aquarium I have now bought 4 shrimps, all about 4 cm tall, two blue and two red ones, all shrimp have large claws. They look like mini lobsters. What did I buy there ??? why don't your animals have big claws_ here in asia 3 animals cost one US dollar. The animals eat well and are in top shape, but they usually argue with each other

Blue shrimp are my favorite. I have one like yours...just pops with color. What is the plant in the center of the blue dream tank? Is that pearlweed? Looks lovely.

I had absolutely no interest in shrimp until I was given a bunch of red cherry shrimp(ones that didn't colour up as much) now I want to set-up a dedicated shrimp tank lol
