I got lucky yet again | Cheeky MTB trails | How do I go about it?

Poor old Boots 😂 End of the day, although adding that bit in was a bit of a mickey take, I do put a fair bit of effort into finding new places to ride and thought that people may be interested in knowing how I did it, interspersed with the riding from the place (which was damned good - that drop I nose dived off was a lot bigger than I expected though 😂)

@@Stopadoodledoo I’m sure he can handle a bit of mickey taking. Looked a big drop that especially if you weren’t expecting it. You look like a competent rider, it’s great to find new places there are trails all over the place if you look and seeing stuff on RU-vid helps people to find new stuff, nice one. Bet he can’t argue with your brand of bike………..who had it first though that is the question? 🤣

@@colinedward3147 😂 I've had far too many Orange bikes over the years (O2 / 222 / 223 / Patriot / Alpine Five / Alpine 6). You'd think I would want to try something else but I just like how, at least for me, they don't break when smashed with rocks. Rock strikes that is, not me literally smashing them with rocks like some bike hating caveman who has discovered rudimentary tools for the first time 😂

Yeah, really chuffed with this one. I guess that if people were up for exploring and happy that we may get lost / the trails may be boring / the trails may be bloody crazy then I would love others to join me. Problem is, we all lead busy lives, most of these places are close to me but not the guys, so it’s a lot to ask, say Christian, to drive for an hour and a half for what might be a dud. Not sure they trust me after the crazy tracks we found in Grizedale back in October either 😂

I love riding blind mate, puts you in a position where you have no choice but to have a go at stuff 😂 I once ended up doing a road gap at Okeford Hill Bike Park (in Dorset) that if I had seen beforehand, I would never have attempted 😂

Absolutely mate, riding the occasional chaff makes you realise how good the better stuff is. As for the gloves, they are a bit special but I have had worse. I do tend to go for dull coloured bikes and kit nowadays but for years in the 2000’s, I rode about on a bright yellow Santa Cruz Bullit with cherry red Boxxers on; not exactly subtle 😂

Yeah, I was seriously impressed with it but could tell that it would be nasty when wet. I grew up in a limestone area and know what it’s like when damp; I still have the scars 😃👍

Yep, maybe I should start each one with a goodbye message for the family (and ask them to edit and release the video too 😂). My problem is that I tend to go at new trails like a bull in a china shop, rather than take it easy and look first. It’ll catch me out one day but I quite like having no choice but having to ride features 😃

As for this weekend, I'm most likely not going to be available but if you look on my Strava (search for Stopadoodledoo) there's one on there for Seldom Seen and Angle Tarn/Satura Crag that is just incredible. Probably my favourite Lakes singletrack on that figure of 8 loop 👍

I thought about you and what you would say when I bought them, would have bought the matching jacket too if they’d had it in stock. Noticed when editing the Ambleside ride from earlier this year that Pete stood out because of his bright jacket but Marc and I wearing black just faded into the background (Pete nearly appeared in the thumbnail for that very reason). Trails are better than good mate, they’re outstanding. JUMPS AND DROPS but all of them (except the one I nose dived) that would not be harsh if you hooked up. Great place for a Progression Session 😂 Good sweave practice location too 😂 Sweaving 😂😂😂😂

Looking forward to it, maybe do it when we all meet up for a beer, and a night of it 😃 I need to understand what this so-called sweaving is? Is that weaving and swerving at the same time 🤷🏻‍♂️ Or, if it is out of control, well I have that dialled 🤣

@@ElectricMountainBiker I wish I knew what sweaving was; from what I can make out, it’s a bizarre and pointless way of not losing speed at all but in the process, having less grip on the trail.

Yeah, I was well chuffed with this one, third lucky find on the trot now (the fourth back was rubbish). Either bike would be ok but a full susser is better, especially for that large drop. As for joining me on exploratory trips, I prefer to do them alone mate

It’s fantastic but yeah, a fair drive from Yorkshire. I bet there’s tons tucked away on hills over there. I found a fair bit around Bingley when I lived there 👍
