Have you ever gotten your RV Stuck before?? What did you think of Mike's reaction when I told him what happened? Leave it below and be sure to give this video a thumbs up!👍🏻
Yes, we got our camper stuck in our backyard. Spring in Ohio, ground was softer than we thought and first the trailer got stuck and then the tow vehicle dug into the ground and got stuck as well. We have a lot of camping friends we've all had minor screw ups. Actually, I don't know anyone that hasn't made a mistake or two with their RV's so don't feel bad. It happens to all of us.
My truck travel trailer and I once slid in a muddy patch of grass on public hunting campground's jacked knifed had to call a tow truck to which me out 3 hrs later cost me $200.00. a few bad words I said to myself lol,😊
I think you did well Lynn, shows that you are a problem solver, you looked after it yourself, instead of calling Mike In a bucket of tears, you proved that you can get it done onyour own, Well Done
As a truck driver and for over 30 years of driving . We all have made a mistake or 2 and have gotten stuck, you did a awesome job and keep on doing it you will only get better.
I couldn’t believe you didn’t cry. Especially talking to the camera about it before the Maintenance guy showed up. Plus I wouldn’t have know to call the park office, especially in off season. I would have called a tow company and had a huge bill on my hands. So you taught me something too. I think you handled it all really well. I think Mike was rather proud of you actually.
Lots of boys have made that mistake as well. You devised a solution to remedy the problem without Mike's help, so kudos to you. I get myself in trouble most often when I don't take my time to GOAL - get out and look. Safe Travels.
Actually, I think was the best type of learning experience. You learned something that was very valuable and it really did not cost anything. Cheap learning experiences are the best type. You now know you can do it and will not make that mistake again. Great learning experience!
Thank you, it was a very good learning experience that I didn't know I'd experience that day haha I was pretty confident going into it that it would be perfect but alas... I did learn what not to do😂
Lynn don't be so hard on yourself could happen to anyone especially in the winter. I wouldn't have even attempted what you did on your own.You did good girl & you never gave up.Mike should not be mad & I don't think he will. 🙂🇨🇦👍👍👍
At least you were brave enough to try. It could have happened to anyone. He won't be mad. He will be proud of you for trying. Yes, he'll let you try again.
I was glad I did it.. Even with getting stuck. I know I can do everything if need be now. Luckily Mike wasn't disappointed in me and he thought I did a great job otherwise
Girl, you got nothing to be embarrassed about. It would be hard for anyone to back up, by yourself, snow covered pad, not fully seeing where the pad stops and the snow covered grass begins . And no spotter . . . You did what you needed to do to get recovered. You are not the first person to get a rig stuck, and you won’t be the last. 9.9 times out of 10, it was a man that got it stuck. You rock!
Backing into snow covered parking area, we have all messed that up. Welcome to the club lady. Consider yourself slightly better than the guys as we would have cut that part from the video. Good on you for doing this on your own.
Yeah I certainly didn't want to show it, but there's no way I was cutting that out. It's real! We really enjoy being real with everyone😊 I appreciate the kind words
Hey things happen! IMO you still did a fine job! You messed up, you owned it and fixed! Perfect! I think he will be tickled pink when he sees you fixed a bad situation!
It happens. You adapted you over came, you conquered! I think he’ll find it funny. - Fast forward. It was indeed a learning experience which is why I think you can try it again the next time you need to be the early advance team. You got this. I’m impressed, instead of trying to tear up the park yourself you got help and made it happen anyway.
Yeah I really didn't want to call for help but I REALLY didn't want to make things worse or risk damaging something so I thought it was best to just call for help and hope that would work. Thank you!
I am very proud of you. You almost did it. Then you fixed the problem. We all women need to know how to do this and learn for our mistakes. You go girl!!
As a female who has towed exclusively for 4 years. Let me say you did fine and stuff happens. One piece of advice, always walk your site before pulling in it. Just to get a feel for the grade/levelness and look for stuff that might poke a tire. In snow you can find the edge of the site and scuff your shoe along each edge. That way when you look in your mirrors you have a guide to use backing in.
Greeting from Colorado! You have a very supportive husband. You have to take chances, that's how you will learn and not repeat the same mistakes again. I have been pulling my Toy Hauler for, I don't know how many years and still makes mistakes from time to time. Wonderful family. God Bless
Thank you so much for the comment! He is very supportive that's for sure (and forgiving😜) I mostly was disappointed in myself because I was so sure that was the part I would do great on haha oh well, a lesson learned indeed!
Girl, shit happens BUT you (by yourself) got it fixed. My understanding Mike works for a truck training facility so i bet he favors those who don't panic. Give yourself a break. Happy camping
I had high hopes because he's had me back it in campsites often so I felt confident and that's the part I messed up. I disappointed myself more than anything.
I had high hopes because he's had me back it in campsites often so I felt confident and that's the part I messed up. I disappointed myself more than anything
I'm so glad he was able to laugh because that made me feel so much better! I was worried he'd be upset or disappointed but laughing made me feel better
I guess that's a good point. But the exception is Mike wouldn't have been on the edge of the pad like I was causing it to slide off the edge🤦🏼♀️ haha but hey, I'll take it!😁
It's no big deal, as a professional driver we've all done things like that, and I'm sure Mike has too, shake it off, chalk it up to a learning experience.
Lynn don't let it get to you. You not only got stuck but you filmed it. That takes guts. We all make mistakes and like Mike says it's a learning experience. Don't beat urself up. It happens and good job getting out. I'm sure the campground wanted a new pool lol.
Use to drive a small Feed Truck haul 7 tone bulk feed. Can't tell you how many times I got stuck and needed a farm tractor(large one) to pull me out. So No Harm= No Foul. From all I was you did great, handled the situation like a champ. Keep pushing forward and remember it's all a learning experience. Good Luck and Stay Safe
Hey, no harm done! That is what I said to myself when I locked myself out of the motorhome I was delivering from Elkhart, Indiana to British Columbia while parked at the Flying J in Beach, ND in 2008. I was so relieved when the Sheriff's deputy arrived after a 2-hour wait from his duties at an accident scene up north. I was back into the motorhome in 5 minutes after I signed the release forms saying it wasn't his fault if he broke the door/window of the motorhome, LOL. The next time I checked for keys in my pocket, I checked for both sets of keys, not just any keys before slamming the motorhome door shut at the gas pump. Fortunately, I was on the automobile side pumps and not the semi side during that trip!!! Keep up the good job, we all learn from each other so we can make our own mistakes!
Misery loves company! I'm glad that situation worked out for you! The RV locks are so touchy that we've had RVs that'll lock just from shutting the door, without using keys etc
You did great! Mud happens. We live in Florida mud is everywhere in the summer. We all get stuck in the mud once. You did a fabulous job. You rocked it!
@@WanderingWagners This would have been me too if I was backing up. Now if it was a trailer or 5th behind me, I couldn't do that. I did for the first time back up our truck and hooked our trailer up All by myself before we headed out for a weekend getaway. It took me several times but I did it!!
Lynn, you handled it well. No kidding I got stuck in my own yard, leaving for Florida from Indiana. Happens to all of us. Proud of you for keeping your cool
Been a professional truck driver for 30 years and I still get stuck from time to time backing into driveways.... it happens, welcome to the club..... good job.... weesner
You did fantastic!!! The fact that you shared it with all of us is fantastic. I have so much admiration for you. I’m so proud of you. You did it Lynn!!!!!!!!! I wish I had your courage. Hugs
Thank you, Amy! I hated to record it and share my screw up but knew I needed to, not only for myself but for anyone else who tries and messed up. I may need to do a redemption video/trip lol
I love how you get over your fears and get the courage to do this all alone. This was a particularly interesting video. We were so worried that you would be stuck till a big wrecker pulled you out. We watch too much of Matt’s off-road towing videos. My wife still hasn’t pulled our fifth wheel after seven years and I don nag her anymore. Way to go Lynn!
I never even considered a big wrecker lol I figured if the park refused to help or couldn't that I'd have to tell Mike to hello when he got off work. Luckily that didn't happen!
@@WanderingWagners I am glad that the maintenance guy helped you! When we managed a corporate-own RV Park in central Florida, I wasn't allowed to help a guest in any way shape, or form, just was allowed to tell them to hire a wrecker due to the owner's extreme liability paranoia. If it happened once, it happened a thousand times. Someone would attend the Tampa RV Supershow to afterward trading in their little Class B or C and then without telling us try to park a new 40 foot Class A into their 30-foot long back-in "Value" Basic site upon which their rear tires would go off the parking pad gravel which buried them right down to the frame level in the soft sand. For a thousand times it was then MY FAULT that Florida has sand, MY FAULT that a "Value" Basic site was not an Elite or Deluxe site 60 feet long with all concrete, all the while long knowing that they reserved the Basic "Value" site to save $2 per day on their site. Then when you tell them they will have to pay for the broken cable TV hardline, broken water line, and wrecked power electric pedestal .... both members of the couple usually went ballistic on us. $600 to later after the big semi-wrecker pulled them out and they were parked in a replacement Deluxe all concrete pad, they apologize to us after their 3rd beer while I have 5 yards of gravel brought in to work around my maintenance crew as I replace the electric pedestal and get everyone's cable & water going again, lol. Now you wonder why I work for a concessionaire in the USFS in the mountains where there is no utility power and only us Camp Hosts having our own solar, water spigot, and sewer septic, LOL.
No bid deal! We have all been there at one point, you just learn and move on. However, I would have listened to Guy because his face was priceless. He was like: What are you doing driving?? Are you sure about this because I am not??? 😂
You done good! Don’t be so hard on yourself, could of happen to anyone. Man or Woman, I’m a pilot we have a saying, any landing you walk away from is a good one. The same can be said for RV travel. No one was hurt, injured or maimed. You can be my wingwoman any day.
Ahhhh Lynn, don't feel bad at all, nothing broke and no one got hurt. WIN WIN. When I was learning to fly there is a saying if you have to crash be as slow as you can be and crash into something soft. :) :) I've been binge watching you guys vids because I'm in the market for my first RV. Backing up will be a learning experience for me too. I've had a boat before, but I have a feeling an RV will be slightly more challenging. Also, when Mike said did you try to back the Wraith in here too. I busted out laughing. LOL
Thank you! It could have been much worse that's for sure. It would have been much worse if I was towing a trailer and trying to back it in lol We both started laughing at the same time when we saw the ruts when we were walking!!🤣
Things happen. No one is hurt nothing is broke. You made it there it's tough backing on snow covered ground can't always see. I use cones when I drive trucks sometimes to mark unplowed parking spots to help line it up. Reference points are a big help.
That's a great idea! There was a difference in snow color/whiteness from the ground to the pad so I thought I was good but I was too close to the edge of the pad and didn't realize the ground was so soft. Lesson learned!
I felt so bad for you. You seemed so sad but I think you ROCK you did it and 💩 happens to us all like you said nothing is broken you kept it together you're not a dumb girl and I'm proud of Mike too for being cool about it 👍👍
Thank you! I was disappointed in myself big time that's for sure. Mike laughing about it definitely made me feel better but I was mad at myself more than anything
OH girl that would be so frustrating! I (Michelle) like to take the rig out on my own but it's always a risk when you don't have that 2nd set of eyes. Mike mad? Never! LOL ~ Michelle & Brian
It was frustrating for sure! Someone else pointed out that you can see the rear end slide before it sunk in so maybe it wasn't all my fault... Some of it was ices fault😜
good job girl!! anyone not been stick just dont get out much. after getting stuck you did all the correct things. you got yourself out and no damage to rig. Mike should be proud.
You did a good job you got it all fixed before he came home next time and in the future take your time walk around us like you're going to back into anytime it rains it always gets soft and muddy if you feel guilty give him a special treat at night
Oh trust me I walked around plenty before backing in but it didn't seem soft at all and there were no obstacles to avoid hitting so I thought I was good... Wrong lol
You did a great job I enjoyed it very much and laughed just like Mike did it was impressive to see and you handled very good and got a Found on Race day to pull you out great job you deserve the praise on how you handled everything well done
Aww, You Did a mighty fine Job. I've been stuck more then I care to admit,🤔☺️ at least you made it to the campground safe and sound! I think Mike Will Say, Welcome to the real world RV life where stuff happens to everyone. Don't beat yourself up, you did fine you handled the problem like a champ. Keep smiling.
You did just fine Lynn for your first time out by yourself. At least you didn't hit a tree backing in like I did by myself. Just another reason to look things over before backing iin by yourself. Good luck next time.
Kudo's, I thought you did awesome, my wife would not even consider this. You should be proud of yourself, I'm sure Mike is and I know I am, you rock. Stay safe.
It happens to us all. You did just fine. I was really surprised he was able to pull you out. It could have been an expensive tow bill so all in all things went great.
I think it helped that it was only the one side rear that was stuck. I was really nervous it wouldn't do it or it would break something so I had a high sigh of relief when it worked out!
Lynn, way too hard on yourself! Only things damaged are your pride and a little topsoil! I applaud you for DIYing it! You had the courage to take it on, and like everything, you get better with practice! If only my wife was not intimated by the crew cab, long bed dually and the Solitude...
Thanks! My pride and self confidence did take a hit because I should have known better. I didn't want Mike to be disappointed when I was already disappointed in myself haha
Thank you! I was so confident I could do it no problem because I've backed this RV many times before without issues. Of course it happens in the snow! Haha
You made just another experience in life-lesson. As we all do everyday. You are a smart women so you won't make this mistake again. And by the way still didn't see Mikes reaction. I'm in the middle of the Video. I think he is going to laugh and will be happy that you and dogs are ok. Wish you always safe travels from 🇩🇪
With Mike being a cdl instructor, he needs to teach you GOAL ( get out and look) first off before you backed in you should have walked the campsite, than every 2 to 3 feet of backing up u should have gotten out to see where the wheels were going. And you could have re-adjusted the wrath. Now Mike needs to let you drive more when your driving together so you gain confidence.
I did get out and look. (How'd the camera get outside😉) I looked and assessed and everything was good. I have mirrors and was using them. I was doing fine. When I went to pull up to re adjust, it wouldn't move.
Don't be so hard on yourself. You did good up until that point. Snow is on the ground and is a little hard to see where the site is. You were only off by one tire width. : - )
I think for your first time doing it all you did a great job. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Calling yourself a dumb girl is just wrong. Would you call a guy a dumb guy for doing the same? I have seen countless men do the exact same thing. It’s all a learning experience and I’m proud of you for doing it. ❤️❤️
You did great. You are just like everyone else, you do something embarrassing you get down on yourself. I know I’ve been there too many times over my 60 years. But, you handle it great. You didn’t curl up and cry and wait for Mikey, you handle it like a champ and got help as soon as you could and got it out. Good job! And I was glad to see you drive it home. Good decision making.
Thank you, i was happy to figure it out without Mike's help and I wanted to show Mike on the drive home that I could do it (though he's never doubted me haha)
