Hi Tab it’s everything from chocolate, caffeine, sugar, alcohol, weight gain, stress, spicy foods, that can bring on hot flashes! Unfortunately water does help with hot flashes but of course it makes you pee. I’m having one right now while typing this text! 😊 everyone stay encouraged it’s a process we can get through this.

Hi Tab! Love that you're sharing your Journey. As a Holistic Functional Nutritionist who is also in perimenopause, I will encourage you unfortunately that any food or drink that increases dehydration (i.e alcohol, caffeinated drinks or food) may increase your hot flashes. Most of us don't realize that the more you experience hot flashes with overall body temperature increases, you are losing ELECTROLYTES and minerals. Replacing them is essential everyday. So Not by solely drinking water but adding in those electrolytes in abundance will help. Continuing to eat mineral rich foods, for calcium, magnesium, Sodium, chloride, and potassium is a must and so helpful! The recommended amount of Potassium daily normally is a whooping 4,700mg for adults, so this no joke. Trace Mineral concentrace drops are a great start. They can be added to your water and smoothies, etc. Hang in there! There's beauty and knowledge in every path set by our Creator! ❤

@deebdeeb1999 I just love how you ended your message. Albeit a difficult and uncomfortable experience at times, our creator made us this way & gave us the ability to seek solutions to help us on our journey. I’m in full research mode like @tab and have found great relief from bamboo sheets & pillowcases simply because I no longer have to change my sheet in the middle of the night after a hot sweaty flash.

Welcome to the change 😊. I’m 61 and this journey is real. Mine started in mid-late 40’s. Please know that each journey is different. I keep my hair twisted (only letting it down primarily for important meetings) & at night wear a satin scarf with an opening on top so my head can breathe. Only thing about the pellets is that you cannot control the amount on a daily basis and our hormones can fluctuate during the period of time you have it inserted. Chocolate and red wine, gurlll that is the recipe for hot flashes / night sweats. There is a difference between flashes and night sweats. Both can be awful, but those night sweats leave your sheets wet and you sleepless which messes with every aspect of life 😅. Explore all HRT options before committing. Also make sure you are thoroughly tested either via blood or saliva. Oh, lastly get all of your hormones checked together if possible, including your thyroid levels so the doctor can see the full picture. I recommend seeing functional medicine doctors during this time of life because the look at the whole body. Practicing mindfulness 🧘🏽‍♀️ and exercise help tremendously. I know you’re already eating healthy. ❤

Tab here is something no one talks about: When you think your period is over...be careful because there will be a final gush you will not be expecting. It can come at anytime and cause embarrassment if you aren't at home when it happens. Caught off guard, you can mess up an outfit! You think your period is over then this happens and it can be alarming because you're not expecting it....then it's stops as suddenly as it starts. Know that this is normal. ❤

Hey @iamtabithabrown gurrrrrl when you said you had both dark chocolate AND red wine TOGETHER…I felt myself getting hot. I’m 55 and have been dealing with this since my early 40s. I’ve learned that chocolate, red wine and cheese turn me into one of those old school gas space heaters, lol. My husband says he can feel the heat coming off my body half way across the bed. It don’t matter what time of the month it is, if I eat those things, the blaze is coming. And I’m natural too but now because of Meno (Peri swapped placed with her big sister) I can’t cover my entire head, I get too hot. So I have to wrap my head with the top of my hair exposed to release the SOME of the heat. I still be hot, but I don’t feel like I’m sitting under a dryer while I’m sleep. I have no answers for all the peeing causing I get up at LEAST 3 times a night no matter how much or little l’ve consumed and it don’t matter when I consumed it. I’ve heard laying on your left side makes your bladder fill up faster but since I be sleep I don’t know how long I’m on that side. Oh and fyi, don’t be shocked if you wake up one morning and the world is blurry, that’s another “gift” that comes with it AND raggedy stubborn chin hairs start popping up over night😡. Girl it’s a LOT but we gone be alright…eventually😊

I was fighting the good fight with peri and realized I was losing 😂. After consulting a midlife specialist, I went on hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and praise God. So much better. I was going through things I didn't even realize - like anxiety and low moods. Didn't realize until I was back to my happy go lucky self. I suggest keeping a food diary to notice which foods bring on flashes. It can be different for everyone.

Tabitha I’ve been through menopause and it’s no joke my friend! My poor husband went through it with me, and we have made it out on the other side of it. He was very understanding and I’m so grateful too God that he was, most would be ready to ship you out.. Hot flashes oh my goodness those things had to be the pure devil himself.. Went home I’m from North Carolina and it’s about 4.5 hours where I live and at the time I was half way into menopause and I was with my in-laws on this trip and my sister in-law and we were like an hour into the trip and all of a sudden hot flashes hit me I was dripping in sweat it was so bad. Here it’s winter time and I’m asking my husband to turn the air on and my father in-law was cold due to taking blood thinners because of blood clots and circulation trouble so I was mindful of that so I held off asking for the air as long as I could so I just rolled my window down a little bit and my father in-law is like what are you doing young lady lol I’m old as dirt lol.. Needless to say we got to our destination and I was dripping in sweat and that was no fun at all. This went on for days and all I could do was pray and ask God to help me.. I tell ya I’ve never wanted to see my period so bad but that was long gone.. Mine was very bad and I kept saying how I would trade one for the other oh know that’s not what you want.. The peeing all night long is real and it gets so old because I never get good rest anymore.. The first five hours of trying to sleep is a joke because all I do is pee every 30mins to an hour like clock work. I thank God my kidneys and bladder works but I just need a little sleep that’s all...Tabitha I can’t wait to here what the specialist has too say about the pellet, I’ve heard it’s a wonderful thing.. I Wish you the best...

The first 1-3 months I don’t recall much happening. I believe within month 4-6 I got a burst of energy where I could feel and see it even in my work outs. My libido pick up a bit around this time. Then something happened I believe around 8-10 months in. I started waking up and couldn’t get back to sleep, fatigue stared setting in, weight was a stand still even though I was working out 5 or more days a week. I also noticed that my vulva was enlarged! It looked like a large birds beak yes I said a beak. It scared the crap out of me. The last time I went to the doctor that was treating me I told him about my fatigue and he asked the nurse to check my thyroid she said it was normal and he said I will give you something for your thyroid. When I saw my primary care doctor and told her what he prescribed she was surprised and concerned and said she didn’t understand why he prescribed that medication because it comes from animals. I immediately stopped everything and after 6 months I had all new blood work done to check my thyroid etc. The numbers came back normal, my vulva went back to normal. I however still suffer from severe fatigue, no libido, inability to lose weight, sleep deprivation ( I wake up and can’t get back to sleep) I’m Not Giving Up or Giving In! I will conquer this! I AM Victorious!!!

Thank you for this video and the previous one. I’m menopausal now. Yes, chocolate, red wine, processed sugars, caffeine but any Chronic stressors in your life will keep the sweats coming. Your hair and body chemistry will change during the process. On a positive note Donna will recover and the mustiness will end in a couple of years. Unfortunately, this is nature and part of our journey. ❤

I have the Shilucheng bamboo sheets and the temperature control is A-1! Now, I gotta get some pj’s. Yeah Tab, the sugary & caffeinated products will get those night sweats going. When I reduced my pop intake, I noticed a huge difference. While we’re talking about the sleep aspect, see about getting a chiropractic adjustment, if you don’t get them already. Spine alignment impacts so many things. I recently had one and it had helped me sleep better.

Hey Tab! The best bonnet I have found is 100% Silk (not Satin)! Silk is natural, it doesn’t tangle your hair or pull your strands and because it is natural, it breathes and allows your head to stay cool. I sleep on a 100% Silk pillowcase and have purchased some for my kids as well! Praying for all of us! Thank you for sharing. Love you❤🙏🏾🫶🏽

Hey girls…Hey! So…I have been going through menopause for the last few years! I have been dealing with all of the symptoms, ok??! But help is on the way for those of you who has not found (at least) a temporary fix, it’s called Estroven! I have been using this product since 2017, the caveat is they come in several color-coded boxes depending on your symptoms. I found that the purple box works for all of my symptoms, including hot flashes & night sweats!! I wish you all the best for all of my beautiful sisters of all walks whose been living with this sometimes dreadful, “But There’s Hope” temporary condition. Many blessings a long this well-traveled journey - you are not alone🙏🏾💞💞

Hi Tab, I noticed you asked about the pellet. I am currently getting through my first round of the pellet and yessssss. It has given me back my life again. I am finally feeling like me again. The hot flashes, mood swings anddd dryness of Ms. V has disappeared. I have named it the “Cinderella Experience “. Because you can feel when it is getting time to have another treatment. Slowly you start turning from the carriage back to to the pumpkin 😂😂 so to speak. I definitely recommend it to Anyone who is going through perimenopause and having a rough time. Mine was pretty severe to the point my husband was being affected. But since I started the pellet therapy… He is loving having his wife back again. I hope you consider it once you have spoken to your specialist. You definitely won’t regret it. ❤

I feel you, Tab! The excessive peeing at night decreased when I decreased my liquid intake a few hours before bed. (I have to follow the same rule I used to tell my children...no liquids close to bedtime😊). Another possibility is because of pre-diabetes. The carbs turn into sugar, and the body works extra to keep overload of sugar from entering blood, meaning the kidneys have to work harder and produce more urine to rid our bodies of the excess glucose. I used to get up every hour! Thank you for being who you are!

Another thing that we ladies go thru besides the hot flashes during menopause, is feelings of anxiety with heart palpitations. I thought I was losing my mind and dying until I finally talked to a nurse friend of mine who gave me valuable information about menopause symptoms. The one piece of advice that I got that has helped me the most with the anxiety was to take one calcium supplement daily. The anxiety disappeared. I am 10 years in and I have to say that nothing that was suggested professionally or otherwise, has helped with hot flashes. I refuse to do Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) because of the high risk of cancer.

The Stinging Nettle is something that I drink often. I also try to care for my heart, liver, kidneys, arteries, immune system and mental well-being. Milk Thistle, Arjuna, Egyptian Black Seed Oil and Organic Castor Oil are supplements that I regularly rotate with my vitamin regimen. I also drink Ojibwa tea, Tulsi tea and Pau d'arco tea for health and wellness. If I use a sweetener, it's local honey, Manuka honey or monk fruit. Two things: 1) There is always a connection to food. Since becoming vegan, I have been challenged by an over-abundance of hives when my body overheats. Hives seem to be caused by high histamine plant foods that vegans eat. The reactions have been so bad that I sought medical treatment for anaphylaxis. So, I have been taking an anti-histamine each day that has greatly reduced the severity of my hot flashes and night sweats. (I’m not recommending an anti-histamine; just sharing what has surprisingly worked for me.) 2) While not a cure, you might find of interest the podcast, “Black Girls Guide to Surviving Menopause,” by Omisade Burney-Scott. She’s a fellow North Carolinian, and her interviews with women going thru “the change” are remarkably refreshing and candid.

Done did all the tests, blood-works, ultrasounds, surgical procedures to check for “ everything “. Notta thing - they could find. My obgyn is puzzled and said she wonders if I am truly in menopause bc of my numbers. So we’re taking it month by month. And may do vaginal estrogen to see if that helps to straighten up everything. Lately I've been peeing a lot at night as well & it is very hard to sleep. I don't like it, I can't stand being Hot & I do understand the up & down moods😂😂😂. I'm still learning about peri & menapause as well. Hi Tab and everyone. I haven't had a cycle since my mid-30s. I'll be 55 at the end of this month. I had hot flashes consistently for about three years. My cousin from the country told me to drink lemon water when the hot flashes hit. Sure nuff, when I took in the cold lemon water, the hot flashes would subside. I dont have hot flashes consistently any more but when I eat chocolate or anything with high caffeine, I feel it. So yes, you may need to cut back or eliminate caffeine for the sake of the hot flashes. I still suffer with fatigue and muscle weakness but I'm working on an exercise routine. I look forward to the updates and info you have coming to us. Thank you.
