this is cool seeing you go through generations. I painfully lived through it , since 1978. the 579 with a 550hp stamp is my favorite nerdy evolution right now. In nice weather, tiny cabs aren't bothersome. Head into some cold and blizzards and the reality of the new bunks is very pleasant. you can do microwave, all kinds of stuff.

Still have my 1976 Peterbilt 359 A19 4n4 transmission, 350 big cam Cummins. Was originally painted to be a Montana Produce truck with a single exhaust stack. Had it repainted and added another exhaust. YONK!!

Not sure you actually know! There are certain applications and instances you occasionally shift the low side of an 18!! I'm 90k EMPTY and usually 230,000 or more loaded and rarely split the bottom side! Maybe a big hill.. getting started at a red light; maybe...The engines of the last decade have enough torque and HP to not require that low side split... 35+ yrs of driving 3 mill on my odometer... save the $$$ and weight! Yes I pull all 48 not just flat land!

I have over a million safe miles under my belt. I consider myself a trucker. Not a steering wheel holder and damn sure not an enthusiest. I was taught the old school way. Not speeding thru truck stop parking lots, not flashing my high beams in other drivers mirrors letting them know it's clear to come over in the lane. I don't claim to be a trucker and have a trucking company and then have to ask the salesman how to open the hood. I certainly know how to shift AND downshift. People hate on this goofy fucker because a REAL TRUCKER can see right through the bullshit that this poser puts on RU-vid. He's a nothing but a wanna be. If he's going to continue to put his ignorance out there for the world to see, he should expect to be called out.

If your gonna play truck driver you should learn how to down shift. Come winter time you throw it in neutral like you do and ride the brakes your gonna find yourself in a pickle. Not to mention if you do that then you have to hunt for a gear when it’s go time again. All in all doing good keep it up

Dean Lutgert because in a big truck you’ll lose your brakes in a hurry coasting in neutral and using the service brakes all the time. If your truck is loaded at 80,000 lbs gross and you’re coming down a hill in neutral you’re considered out of control, and the crash at the bottom will be your fault. Jake brakes don’t work in neutral.

Totally agree! Dealer, paccar motors are great! Me, well, lets walk out in the shop to see how many of each.... gets out to shop, 1st truck i see has a white motor! All torn down, dealer, yeah, their going through the top end on that.... me, how many miles? Dealer, 1.1.... 2.5 million total! next 6 trucks, paccar! All under 200,000 miles... all torn apart... WTF dealer dude! I'll pass on the paccar! Gotta find me a early yellow motor or white motor...

Yup exactly my dads buddy used to drive a brand new Pete 579 with a 455hp paccar it’s been in the shop 7 or 8 times with engine troubles meanwhile my dad is driving a 2012 Pete 567 with a 525hp Cummins and not a hint of trouble. So for the new stuff just get something with a Cummins in it.

Haulin America, I’ve seen a lot of flat land drivers do this shit, they never learn how to downshift and use the Jake to its full ability, they just flip it on in 1 gear, then pop it in neutral and stop on brakes. In Florida I’m sure it’s no big deal, but in the Appalachian’s it’s dangerous.

Rodney u got it wrong , 1986 is actually the year they started mass producing the Peterbuilt 379 , yeah the same classic truck you meant , they actually stopped in 2007 with the last 1000 of them being called the Legacy class edition the biggest difference in appearance is the oval headlamps(ugly as fck) like in this video , a less defined grille and a top visor that barely cover shit and a round one piece windshield ,get ur facts straight ¬¬.

@@RaceboyYT You realize they're built in the same factories right? The w900 and 389 are basically brother trucks as both KW and Peterbilt are owned by PACCAR and have been since long before Smokey and the Bandit.

The Cobb feed plant was in Albany KY. My boss has his shop right beside that plant. I drove a KW T660 hauling Frac Sand in the oil fields in PA and WV.. until Covid-19 hit and we went belly up! My in-laws live half a mile from there. And the Fitzgeralds in Byrdstown are my family as well. My Great Aunts grand daughter married one of the brothers that own it. Unfortunately I wasn't around that side of family... God knows ide love a sweet truck like that Pete! Looking good man!
