Thank you so much for sharing this! I just got my rejection letter today, meaning I did not even get invited for an interview because I was 1 point below the required score on the MCAT exam. I was literally walking out of the pig barn after working eight hours when I got the email. Literally cried the rest of the day. I am going to try again and write the MCAT again this summer but I just dont know what to do for the rest of my year. Should I go back to school? Should I go work under some vets for more experience? Should I take a gap year? I have been dreaming of being a vet since I was very little and have dedicated my whole life for this. Thanks again! I really needed this advice!
Hi! I am watching this and seeing quite a similarity in your story verse mine. I got rejected from OVC on my first application, I took the same approach you did to improve my application (I needed to improve my marks). I am currently undergoing my second application to OVC and hoping for the best. this video gave me confidence thank you!
@@yourvetamanda omg. I just found out this afternoon I got an interview. Now trying to decide the best way to prep as it seems to be a bit different process than previous years!
One of my biggest fears is letting down the vet I work for. I'm a vet tech and some of my coworkers have gotten in on their first tries and it scares me to not get in on the first try and what he may think of me :(
It definitely is a nerve wracking process but there are so many people who don't get in on their first try! It's actually more common to not get in the first application than to get accepted. Your vet has been through the process so he knows how challenging it is, so I'm sure he will be proud of you no matter what the outcome! Good luck!!
I wonder if you would ever reveal the stats on your first application from the second one? It would be interesting to compare them especially since I feel my grades aren't good enough, but I understand that's your personal info so I get it if you don't feel comfortable doing so.
I don’t mind at all! I think it’s good to get an idea of what marks are like, however I will say that the interview average has gone up every year so these marks are a little out of date! My first application I applied with an 85.6% (that included my last 2 full time semesters and my 8 prereqs) and my second attempt I applied with an 88.8% ☺️ the interview cutoff is trending toward a 90 now though!
Hi Amanda! I just found your channel and am loving the videos! I just have a quick question (for you and anyone else), how did you find out which study methods are effective for you?
Thanks so much for watching!! I'm glad you're enjoying them! For me personally, it was a lot of trial and error. I still switch up my study methods depending on the class and how the content is presented. Over the years I've found a few methods that work best for me so I typically start with one and then switch it up after a few weeks if I don't think it's working for me. Finding out what type of learner I was (eg. visual or auditory) at the beginning was really helpful too!
@@yourvetamanda Thank you for the detailed response!! I took the quiz and apparently the I'm a 30% visual, 30% auditory, and 40% tactile learner haha. So I'm not sure what to do with that information.
@@amytran8357 Normally with tactile learning, students do best by trying things themselves! For some classes thats really difficult but I find trying to teach someone a concept (even if you're just talking to a wall) really helpful! You could give that a try and see how it goes!
Hi, I found your account yesterday and I've already watched like a ton of your videos, I'm in 11th grade aspiring to go to ovc. Once you got rejected, how did you go back to get higher grades after already finishing your undergrad? Did you have to apply to undergrad again? How does that work? :)
Aw thanks so much for watching!!! I actually applied for the first time in my 3rd year of undergrad so when I got rejected I still had one year left. So I used my last year to upgrade some marks! Hope that makes sense ☺️
Hi so I had a question when you got rejected did you continue your education bachelor degree or did you take that year off all so I'm wanting to apply when I have completed 2 year of my bachelor when I have all the prerequisite I don't live in onterio could I still get excepted or do I have to live in onterrio for 1 year to get my residency I do live I canada
I still had one year of my undergrad program left so I kept going with that. I'm not too sure what the requirements are for timelines when applying, I believe you have to live in Ontario for a full year while not in school but double check the requirements! I didn't have to worry about residency when I was applying since I'm from Ontario. If you have any specific application questions you can always email OVC admissions and they would be happy to answer any questions you have!
There's only one school in Ontario, but for the other 4 schools in Canada you have to live in the province for a year before you can apply, so that wasn't a possibility for me!
My average including my last 2 full-time semesters and my 8 prerequisite courses was an 86.4. I believe the cutoff for an interview that year was around an 86.8!
