Highly skilled, honest, modest and forthright in dealings with customers (or a well manufactured image) in a field where gouging is more common than pro wrestling, well done good sir.
I wish Hoovie would buy more crazy German things the Car Wizard doesn't want to work on, but please, NO MORE BMW's, unless something truly unique and old.
@@FalconXE302 Easy stuff? You clearly don't watch his channel 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Many people that have been through several mechanics that can't solve the problem always end up at the Wizard's shop and he always find the problem others couldn't and fixes it, it's very easy to talk when you are behind a screen.
@@MrCunningham4That's the reason I wish we got the utility version in the states, I don't want all the luxury bullshit, I want one to bash and use as intended. Then again if that were the case I would find one with an engine ready to blow and just drop an LS in it and dog the absolute fuck out of it.
@ingham4You do realize that a G-Wagon is far more capable than a stock or even a somewhat modified Wrangler, right? Forget the Cherokee which is not a body-on-frame SUV like the G-Wagon is, and is a shitbox in comparison.
I got a 2016 G550 last summer and it has been absolutely fantastic. Most of the used ones I looked at had 3-5 previous owners, whereas this one only had one. I think that made all the difference.
No. He makes plenty of money fixing real problems that he doesn't have any desire ripping somebody off over things that really didn't take enough shop time to be worth charging for.
Yeah. Ninja still real to watch unlike Hoovie calling and shitting on all CLK Mercedes that aren’t a clk63 black. Sorry Tyler, I can only afford a clk550
How about paying more for what you want?. I researched the history of the G-wagon. They made it available in Europe starting in 1979. That version had it rough edges (exposed door hinges. Jeep-like ride). soften when bought over to the US in 1998. Then in the 90,s they came out with only some of the rough edges removed and sold it for a HIGHER PRICE then the regular versions. Shakespeare was right "What fools these mortals be". Even thou the M and GL versions are a better fit (ride and fuel economy), rappers and stars have some folks wanting G-Wagons.
@@MegaShinobi3 It became a status symbol, unfortunately. 95% of them will never see off-road. My neighbors, two older women, have matching white G 500's (which is pretty bad ass actually) well they used to be matching, one of them recently got into a brand new, black G63 AMGS. I can hardly imagine her even going half throttle with that beast. Idk, maybe she shreds the shit out of it, who knows, haha, but chances are that she will never get even close to the limits of it.
@@leerob2403 it sounds like such a terrible waste. Why buy such a powerful vehicle, specifically the top end AMG version, and never get past 3rd gear? I'm happy for anyone who can do anything that I can't (like buy a G63), but it's a shame that all that over-engineering is wasted on most people who buy them.
@@LordPrometheous Exactly, and you know the salesperson wasn't saying "this is one of the most powerful SUVs we offer and I don't think it's what you really need for daily driving"... He was like, "this is perfect for you! A 60 year old woman needs almost 600hp to get to the grocery and the mall and back." Haha

As a former Floridian, NEVER buy anything out of South Florida. Its stolen, has vin bolted on from another chassis, or some combination of tomfoolery. Its so bad, any ad from South Florida should have a possible scam disclaimer.
I was the main MB dealer in Bethesda, MD (Euro Motor Cars) today. I noticed a 24 G wagon at the new car parking spot. Its sticker was $345,000! I ran into my sales guy and asked about the car. He said that they can’t sell it because MB has issued a recall for the rear axel and that replacements aren’t currently available! We talked about the G wagon and I asked him about the potential depreciation on it once it was sold. He told me that the minute it left the dealership, the depreciation hit would be $100,000!!!!’
Car ninja! What a g! Man after my own heart! When I fix cars and stuff is honestly genuinely fast and so easy. I love to give back to the customer And make something Very cheap or sometimes free. That's why his shop is always full!
Probably all of 10 minutes to fix both problems. Hook up the tool to the port and reset the code, done. The headlight is probably like most newer Porsche lights, release the catch and the whole assembly slides out, slide the new one in, re-latch it, done. Hoovie could have done it himself, but I understand why he doesn't.
Chicago, all of Florida, New jersey, and NYC area are places you NEVER buy cars from unless it's from a reputable dealerships after a PPI. Also never buy a used Challenger or Hellcat without a PPI either regardless of the part of the country it comes from.
Who's better than the Car Ninja? Such a decent fella. Tyler helped garner Jonny some YT attention and therefore gets a freebie once in a while. That's how a reciprocal friendship stays healthy.
No hate but dont we all wish we had those problems my some of my cars arent working since its winter and i couldnt drive them problems 😂😂😂 salute to this guy hoovie been watching for couple years love the growth.....
Doesn't surprise me a bit that Johnny didn't charge you a thing for resetting the top and installing that headlight. He knows you're coming back. You'll always be bringing your BMWs to him from now until he retires (or you do). He's interested in the long-term customer relationship, not a short-term gain. I love giving my business to people like him. 😊
What a emotionally gripping vlog dang. The three brothers in one epic vlog. A wild story. Tyler gets scammed 10:32 that sigh of sadness. And heartbroken. The jokes. And ninja did everything for free for his bro. I cried at that what a wonderful ending
@@Chthonian121 Yeah I don't wanna dismisses what the car wizard said but in my experiance (7 M113/K powered cars to my name), they do not have cylinder scoring issues like Porsches because they use a different lining that's better lasting. It could have been a factory defect or previous owner negligence but to say it's common is untrue.
@@Chthonian121 I had a E55 with the same engine and the same issue. I solved it by getting a used engine from Germany, gad it air freighted in and installed.
Back in 2003 one of theirs ended up in my Ford Probe. It's still working to this day so no complaints from me. But I don't believe those engines were prone to issues to begin with unlike the one he has in the AMG. And yes.. I know.. Ford Probe.. Terrible name. But fun cars!
My Ferrari 599 hood won’t close. Allow me to slam it 15-20 times so you can see what I mean, likely breaking other things in the process. 😂 We love you Hoovie! Don’t ever change.
I started watching Hoovie because I dreamed about owning exotic cars. But the channel has made me start dreaming about owning Toyota Corollas and Honda Accords.
How would you describe this channel to a friend? A show about dropping cars off at the shop and driving the fixed ones back? I've been watching since the Apollo project 😂
Knowing how those trunk latches fail and what has happened to prevent them from latching, it makes me CRINGE mercilessly when I see you slamming the trunk REPEATEDLY down on the latch...

Not worth the time if you're already taking it to the shop. You could always accidently break a clip if your not careful. Shops usually charge by the hour anyway. So most places probably would do it for free as part of a yearly service.
1. These are Xenon headlights, so they are high voltage, not just 12V. 2. Headlights need proper alignment when installing. A garage usually uses specialized tools to do this quickly and correct - so you are not one of these morons who are blinding all oncoming traffic. 3. He clearly is not interested in doing the work himself. 4. The interactions with the mechanics are a main component of this channel, why would he want to get rid of that?
on the m113ks there is a nasty o-ring that goes out on the oil pump, with cylinder scoring it's almost certain this is the culprit. make sure it's not that, it's a quite simple fix and most people overlook it on the engine rebuild, it can also cause some weird oil loss issues because of the way it's mounted in the 2-piece oil pan.
@@Chthonian121i have a m113 5.4L myself & i never heard of cylinder wall scoring but i have seen a forum where a person had scored cylinders & someone said that it could be a hot spot in the engine & thats what causes the “silicone aluminum” coating to wear out along the wall leading to scoring.. i believe that it is human error. it is overlooked when removing spark plugs, intake manifold, or s/c to blow compressed air into the crevasses of the object Youre removing to reduce the amount of debris introduced into the combustion chamber..
@@AMGmeisterah shit the man himself, yes you are correct from what I understand and have experienced, the m113/k only has cylinder scoring issues when either the oil pickup tube o-ring has failed or in extreme cases where mileage is very high and the ccv system gets clogged from terrible oil change intervals and usually it's compounded by intense high g driving, any exceptions?
Believe me Hoovie, I am very experienced with m113. 99 percent of oil consumption in m113 is bad PCV. The final result is unfortunately what happened to you and the very next will be blown head gasket. The PCV stops working correctly as oil is being sent to cylinders, pressure in crankcase increases and carbon buildup causes LSPI damaging the coating. I did rebuild using iron cylinder sleeves. You can also consider darton wet sleeves that will make it literally indestructible. I tried transplant with N/A m113 engine block unfortunately doesn’t work. Coating on this engine is considered really decent, however carbon buildup and old fuel can destroy it pretty easily. Don’t do thicker oil. The only one that works in this m113k is 0w40, for racing use and SLR 5w50 is advised (however you may paradoxically experience higher oil consumption - more pressure in crank and oil drains slower from a pcv drainer).
G-Wagons are a maintenance nightmare. With the cylinders that badly scored it is time to get rid of it and stop the bleeding, otherwise it is going to cost you a small fortune.

Never liked the idea of a 'coated' aluminum cylinder wall instead of a proper iron sleeve. (just like Chevy Vega) Mercedes has used these for years. If you have a good one, great, if not, OIL BURNER. My uncle had a '72 280SEL that ended up being an oil burner. No sleeves in the aluminum block. He has a re-ring job done ($2000 in the late 70's) as it wasn't TOO bad yet and then traded it off.
Soft cylinder walls with this M113k engine and the later M157 5.5 Biturbo (being more of a problem). Same with BMW S63 engine. The M156 '6.3' was done right with a twin-wire arc spraying process that melts iron/carbon wires and sprays them onto the cylinder walls - resulting in an ultra hard surface.
No one ever trades a car because it's run well. Keep repeating that until you get it. OF COURSE THEY SOLD IT BECAUSE IT WAS USING OIL.... thanks, Hoovie, for going bankrupt and fixing it for us.
Alex from Legit Street Cars can help you with a Whipple and upgraded engine for the AMG G. A VRP Whipple, headers, fuel system, polished heads, cams, and rotating assembly for a really fun G.
I knew a guy who bored out a Porsche Boxster nikaseal (sp) engine and fitted cast-iron rings. That vehicle is still running 15 years later. It'd been through a sewerage flood in Hong Kong.
Gotta love the car ninja! Phenomenal guy also, its a shame what happened with the G wagon. I live in Chicago and we do have some sketchy dealers that you need to watch out for.
Love these videos, been a follower of Hoovie for awhile, now unless its for pure content, never understood why he wouldn’t have the car Wizard check out the car BEFORE he bought them…even if he had to fly him somewhere it would save the headaches of something like this - unless of course, the surprise of polishing a turd is the magic sauce here
In Germany some experts see the issue with the M113Ks is with broken catalytic converters. The converters break down and crumble into dust. The dust can then be sucked in through the exhaust valves causing this type of damage. M113s don’t have an Alusil cylinder surface.
A throwback to Mercedes racing history. I talked to rhe owner of the 1914 LA Mans winning Mercedes. He told me it required a separate mechanic to ride along to constantly feed oil to the engine.
Several of these issues are self inflicted. You have full and complete access to your storage and not a huge collection Why not put everything on trickle chargers, start them all once a month, let the mechanicals warm up, give the AC, electrics and motors a run through.
@jd9119 lots of people do it. Shmee for starters Loads of storage places trickle charge and warm through Dealers. Basically people who don't want hassles or unnecessary bills
If you're gonna replace the engine, drive it till it pukes... wasted oil be damned... in fact, it's the perfect time to try some of the many available additives.
As a Canadian Kansas winters don’t seem bad enough to not drive vehicles for months , I can only think of two videos where I saw snow on the ground and they are currently being stored at an airport so there could be driven on the roads around the airport at least for ten or fifteen minutes. Surprised the Wizard didn’t say anything when Hoovie said he lubed it.
It does get extremely cold in Kansas during the winter, and then there is the salt on the roads as well as the infinite potholes that appear after the snow plows come through. Kansas has one of the worst freeze-thaw cycles in the US so the roads get beat up pretty quickly.
Typically in Canada, it gets cold and stays cold until spring. Midwest US gets the freeze/thaw cycles that destroys roads and the salt usage is terrible. Hoovie has so many vehicles to choose from, why mess up the nicer ones by driving in the winter. He should have battery tenders on each or pull the batteries and connect them all up on one tender. Starting them once every couple of weeks and warming them up helps too.
2:42 Having oil consumption on newer cars is actually common. I have friends with new Renaults (even as a company with bad reputation for reliability) that they all say they were at certified shops and all of the mechanics said that newer cars like Renaults (and probably others) will consume a bit of oil untill their couple of first thousand miles and they will be good afterwards. After these few first thousand miles the engines should stop consuming oil as much and if they still do that means theres a problem. I'm not a car mechanic myself so I can't really verify it on my own but thats what ive been told by them lol.
I have not read the other comments yet, but in an 1997 Audi A8, there was an electronic trunk latch/release that was disconnected for years until it was plugged back in.
My Phaeton's trunk won't close or latch either. I haven't driven it in over a year and yes, my other cars are angry from sitting through winter too! So this'll be interesting.
