Hey Crandall, unless you insulate that container, your AC will not do you any good. You'll waste a lot of power running the AC, only to see no benefit.

There should be just a few screws that hold the guts of these AC units to it's shell. You can mount the shell and than slide the guts back in and replace the screws and you're all set. Seeing you are going to buy new think about buying two cheap small units and install at each end of the container. I bought 5000 BTU units from Walmart for just about $120 each and they work great but than again I bought out of season and got at bargain pricing
Marci when my daughter transitioned from crib to bed, i would let her take a couple of her books so she could looj through them snd resite the stories, as the books were read to her over and over. It was fun stand behind the halfway closed door and listen to her read the books in her own words. Mainly by the pictures in tge books. And i put a cassette player in her room that played soft relaxing music. She adjusted really quick. This stage can be so stressful, and you have double trouble. I husband thought toys should go with her to either bed or naptime but i told him she would just end up playing not relaxing. Even if she didn't sleep at least she had her naptime to lay in bed and read and listen to the music. It was still quiet time. Just a suggestion. I ran a in home child care for 15 yrs. I played music in the playroom for naptime hut they didn't have books. Consistency is the key. I had 6 littleones. At least 2 infants and 4 toddlers. It does work 😅😅❤❤
AC units can be cleaned. Disconnect power. remove the cover and power wash the unit. Let it dry, re-assemble then set it in and plug it in. Works like new.I have done it for years. Also some of the greenhouse extra piping can be assembled as a temporary support for the tarp.
do not run an AC unit that big on a extension cord, your power might be dropping and not enough amps to run the compressor , run a 12 gauge wire from pole to your AC, do not buy very old ac, they guy should have had a filter in it.
They sell Benadryl cream. Get some of that for next time as it does help with the itching from bee, wasp and ant stings. And now we have those hammerhead worms to deal with (Thanks Asia).
I think the entertainment should be put on hold for now. The outside projects should take presidence for Crandall. Daylight is getting shorter as we speak. That to me is a wintertime project to get done for Christmas. Anyway thats how we do our projects. I know you are excited to display things.

Marci, glad your finger feels better. I got stung on my face when I was pregnant, my face was so swollen. The OB dr told me to take something & I couldn’t stay awake! I had a 2 year old at home so I was panicking. Thankfully my son fell asleep so we both napped.
Marci, when I was preg. I got stung and an old woman said to use a cotton ball soaked in white vinegar. I did and taped it on and the burn and itch was gone.
If you get another sting put baking powder mix with a small amount of water and make a paste and put on it. It will put the poison out of it and will heal faster!

You have such a great natural light going on throughout your house you could have lots of plants in there,It would look really cool. Years ago I did that,I had a house with lighting like yours and I had about 50 house plants hanging and on shelves and they thrived.
Hi Marci! For your stove hood, what about a plain grapevine wreath. Maybe even a small set of battery-operated fairy lights in it. You could also stick in artificial flowers for seasonal colors. Everything looks so good! From Becky in Kentucky 😊
That's what I was afraid of once you sealed the roof that the bee's would find their way in using the air vents. I made a comment after Crandall did it to use bug bombs in the attic but it also might be the eggs that ate hatching. If you're killing that many in one day that's a lot the colder you keep it in the house the slower they are. If you do set off the bombs just leave for the day.
My motto is always buy cheap buy twice. In other words when you buy second hand it generally doesn’t last very long. Sometimes you have to work out if it’s really worth the original savings. ❤❤❤❤❤
Crandall I am not sure what the square footage of your container is. But maybe check into the pink foam board as insulation. I believe it comes in 1 inch and two inches for the thickness. It might be a cheaper alternative to insulation for the container. Trying to do a project without the proper tool's can end up costing you money. If you're going to buy a window unit new, you might consider getting one that has both heat and air conditioning. It would help to be able to heat the container if you're working on a project in the winter. Just a few things to think about. Marci your decorations are beautiful. Thank You for sharing. To keep the tarp up, you can put rope across (between the containers), probably need two or three, and put tarp on top. Use more rope to attach the corners and stake it to the ground. It makes it like a tent. We use to do it this way when we went camping. We even tied the ropes to trees instead of staking them in the ground.
I understand your frustration Crandall, when equipment that you need to do the job at hand is inadequate or doesn't work. However; bad days pass and tomorrow is a new one. 😊😊 Perhaps consider polystyrene sheets for insulation, cheaper that spray foam I would imagine.
So sad that the a/c did not work as planned. Now pray that the fellow that sold you the faulty a/c will come through and make it right. I hope the ducks will go sooner than later. Get your money back, he might be as nice next time. Look for a new one but the crate will never get real cool without insulation. You might want to take the tarp back since it is tearing in the wind.

Sorry about the used air unit not working well. That is usually why folks sell them because they are no longer working well. It's best just to buy new ones with those. 💖💖💖
I have a question why didn't you put the storage container doors facing the house instead of facing the woods? Wouldn't it be easier for you to come in and out of the containers if they were facing the other way so that you can keep an eye out on things ? I'm just really curious why you didn't turn them around?

You might check the site were he stung you. If there is a a little brown spot. Then there is a stinger in it. You have to get a needle and get it out. Then it should go down and not hurt any more.
Crandall, my husband insulted our mental shed with insulation board. One side is styrofoam and the other side is like a foil. It works great and was only like a couple of hundred dollars to do all sides and the ceiling. Sealed the seams with heavy duty foil tape.
Is he using that blue tarp with the trusses? It looks like a lot of expense and work just for shade. Because the a/c is at the back of the crate, wont the air be a lot colder toward the back and less cool toward door area?
Use ammonia for bee stings wasp stings it draws the stinger out plus helps take away the pain and no swelling... I'm late to the party Marci but please listen to me when i say if you are the kids or Crandel get stung by a bee, wasp use ammonia just rub some on with a cotton ball or if in a place you can pour it on then do so , it instantly takes the stinger out ,no pain, no swelling .. plus if anyone is highly allergic to bees use this , this is what they also use for smelling sauce to wake you up after passing out 😂
Crandall i sold an ac unit that was 10,000 btu for 50 dollars on market place 15,000 btu isnt very big or expensive Nd considering the container is all metal and the heat is so high outside it will be hard for any ac unit to keep up they just aren't made for extreme temperatures
Crandall if you run into the same issue with a new AC it may be that it can't be plugged into an extension cord and needs to be plugged in directly to an outlet or it needs an industrial extension cord. I am sure you are right it is the compressor sorry you had so much trouble,
I always test to make sure it works before buying. Ive taken a generator with me to plug item in and make sure it works. Most people are good but a few not so much and i dont have the money to have

Crandall is working his tail off to get this going for the better of your family. The decorative frame seems kind of meanial in comparison to getting this huge project underway.....? I realize you are inside a lot and anxious for improvements. Maybe you could just step back a bit and give him time to get some solid ground work accomplished out there. He's has so many set backs. Benadryl does help with the pain. Take ibuprofen or Tylenol or both. That will take the pain away. Benadryl will help with the itching and maybe with swelling.
You don't have to spray foam the entire shop, the storage container does not need insulation, prob start with the roof of the shop area. Also be sure to paint your roof trusses with some rust inhibitor.
I hope you plugged it in before you left the person you bought it from to see if it run and cools? Unless you have a license you can’t buy Freon anymore, people are selling old units for that reason! The new window AC units use propane, so the old units can’t be charged!
