Just found your channel cracking video I was doing the same a couple of days ago catching loads of trout on spinner and salmo 3cm hornet in the the pouring rain her in Wales 🐟

Not sure but I think the lake trout that swim up the rivers to spawn are called dollaghan or at least they are in the lough neagh rivera

Thanks man! The same lures that work here will work anywhere garrett, small rapala, Tassie devil, lane minnow. Honestly any trout lure will work once you find them and they are in a feeding spell. 👌 i could close my eyes and pick any lure from my box and have confidence.

Some beauties u had there man I lost a trout of about a pound just about 2mins from where u were when u lost yours on the same bait aswell it’s deadly in the 3.5cm size

Fishing was slow as I got there late, there was a few anglers after fly fishing the stretch so I’d say 90% of the fish had been hooked and spooked from the swim unfortunately ☺️ good fun all the same.

great video and great tips, also fair play constantly mentioning the handling of the fish and wetting the hands, see a lot of young lads that would even being lipping trout and all cause they just dont do enough research

@@senanstanleyfishing dead right, just wanna get your opinion on something, the river local to me has extremely fast flow so the only option is fishing downstream, I tend to use 4g size 1-2 spinners and they just jump out of the water because of the current, would using a heavier spinner make a difference? even crankbaits do it sometimes with how fast the flow is, any recommendations??

I would actually still fish upstream or straight across the river in that situation, I rarely ever fish casting downstream, you pull the lure away from the fish rather than into it in that situation, don’t worry too much about reeling super fast, if you pull it over the right fish it will strike

@@senanstanleyfishing cant reel it fast enough, you should see the flow its like a waterfall haha, cheers for the advice though ill try that out, all of my strikes have been downstream believe it or not, and ive caught some sizeable fish

Hi Senan. Glad to have found this channel. Love your ultra light set up. What's the biggest fish that particular rod could handle? You recommend braid for this type of fishing? Coming back to fishing after a long time away!!!

Thank you I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos ☺️🤝 it can handle large fish, I’ve had pike on it, once you loosen your drag and use a net, you will land anything ☺️ I use 8lb braid mostly, 6lb fleuro would be fine also. 👍

So you won’t wipe off the trouts protective slime, dry hands basically burns marks onto their skin.

Yes I do it when I’m out, been mostly lure fishing this year though, I’ve no real preference on which techniques I’m using, I’m happy to do a bit of everything, except worm fishing, I hate the idea of deep hooking a small fish unnecessarily.

How is the sg4 ultralight for trout ? I have one that I use for my pike and perch lures and love it but I do tons of trout so considering it !

It’s brilliant, I like using twitch baits and wobblers so the fast action lets me work the lures directly, some people say to stay away from fast action rods for trout. I’ve never had an issue personally.
