THAT'S JOCELYN BROWN SHOUTING, "I GOT THE POWER". Which really Makes the song!! Jocelyn did not get credit and she Sued and Won. Like Martha Wash's Vocals on Black Box and C&C Music Factory. She also Sued and Won!! As Well as Loletta Holloway's Vocals on Black Box. She Sued and Won!! Powerful "Voluptuous" BLACK Women with Powerful Voices!!
The difference between the other groups and this one… is I actually sang vocals on it. True.. my dear friend Jocelyn did record a song which a sample was taken from (not by me) and she actually was never paid for it due to the fact that she didn’t write the song the sample was taken from. If you notice.. I don’t sing that part live either.. only what I sang on the record. Cheers!!!
@@pynelopi wow. Thanks for the response and insight. I was a kid when I heard this song, I could tell there was two different voices and that the voices didn't match the singer shown. Plus couldn't do a RU-vid analysis and have access to all your videos so easily unlike modern times. Regardless your voice is excellent and that energy you have really makes me feel like I got the power in those moments in life I feel run down. I replayed this video so many times recently because your performance had me so hyped it got me ready to meet life's challenges again. Thank you for your wonderful music, energy, and sharing your gift to uplift people like me.
@@nesq4104 Wow… I love it when people have the insight to understand such a complicated situation. Generally they do this to singers when they don’t want to pay them their fair share. I didn’t get my fair share either but because of Milli Vanilli, they had to find me to represent the group. The music business is crazy but can be rewarding also. Thank you for being a solid fan. You are the only people that matter. You shouldn’t suffer the woes that come along with being an artist. Cheers from Deutschland 🇩🇪
No earpieces, no autotune just a big voice dancing like crazy in high heels and still sounding awesome. Somebody needs to find an HD version of this. I was blown away by this performance
easy my friend, it was like this in 90s almost all the time :), just check for example mtv unplugged or guns n roses november rain live performances from 90s
Damn her voice is so powerful she is singing the truth she does have the power and wow i thought that guy only raps but he is playing the drums too and dances wiw thats amazing and the back up dancers are so energetic and full of powerful moves the whole compilation of this live performance is a powerhouse to be reckon with for years to come perfect awesomeness 👌 🎉❤
when she opens with "heeeey everybody get up and get the power" then the beat drops - has got to be one of the best openings of any song!!! and then they all even her, in her heels bust out the running man!!!!!! I love this!!!!!!
Small girl HUGE voice and spectacular dancing skills. Never tought I was going to enjoy this video so much, eventhough I heard the song thousands of times before. So much energy and talents
@@roccoplaying Penny is the nicest person in the world. In an interview she said Snap contacted Chaka Khan to be in snap , but Chaka sad she hated rap. So she told Penny to go do it. Penny didn't want to do it but did anyway. Snap asked Penny how she wanted to do it. Penny said give me a pack of cigarettes and a bottle of champagne, play some music and get out my way.. Penny did that in snaps Mary Had a Little Boy and also in Oops.
1991 & 1992 this Masterpiece is rocks at all the Discotheque all over the World...What a Superb unforgettable Memories to the Maximum at Discotheque...👍
Guys back when music was fun and sang live very few groups or singers do it like look at both turbo and penny go wow i loved this music show i have a lot of it on dvd i never saw it originally i am from Scotland god i miss the fooking 90s ..
Penny was so amazing that Chaka Khan would record a song one time then leave, and let Penny Ford and the sound engineers complete the song, because Penny could finish the songs exactly like Chaka. Penny also has two fascinating solo albums on RU-vid
I donno how that German producer got all that phats beats and sounds for this track... But to this day, that shit is as dope as can be. And this here group, was on another level of talent.
I can't believe it wasn't until 2022 that I saw this performance for the first time! I remember this song was fire early in high school... well, both versions/groups that made the song(s) that were out around the same time were fire. If I had editing skills, I'd probably make a vid mashup with both versions and throw in some thanos clips.
That's so amazing cause I never saw this video either until 2022. I was so amazed by Penny Ford that I looked up all her songs and then was completely amazed all over again. She has two fascinating solo albums in RU-vid. She was recently inducted into the Cincinnati Black Music Walk of Fame along with Bootsy Collins.
Ano 90/91 estava no quartel, me lembro bem dessa música 🎶, sexta feira depois das 13:00 hs, esquecia deixava a farda ,descia pra CEILANDIA Norte, pra curtir músicas boas como esta.
Played travel baseball all over the southeast many years ago ... this was my walk up song to the plate in most city tourneys ... had all of the sistas on my team by the end of these games ... great memories.
Я русский.! Мне 46, вырос на этих песнях! Они остануться в моей молодости и душе! Снэп это круто!!!!!!!! Ребята! Спасибо за эти композиции, таких больше нет и не будет! Спасибо Вам от души!!!!!
Jocelyn Brown was the “i got the power” sample (she was uncredited, sued and won). Penny Ford is the live vocalist - the original vocal component of Snap! until she left the group. a multi instrumentalist has toured with Chaka Khan, Soul II Soul and has put out records on her own.
Not too many people sound exactly like the studio version when performing live. If i remember correctly they were cousins, too. ❤️🖤💚 I think they've both passed on.
Fierce fierce fierce and Sexy till 2023 and will always be! I heard it 20 times with repeat. I have been hearing this super goosebump since 1997 when they released the two CD pack and then I went back to Dig all of SNAP works. Although, I need to beast within me to dance to understand the beast within SNAP to get along. No matter how many times I keep listening since this was first released, I keep coming back due to my addiction for the class they possess. Respect and Love for uploading this.
Epoca de oro del dance Afro Norteamericano grandes bandas grandes voces grandes bailarines grandes coreografías grandes conciertos en vivo y a capella los años 80,s y 90,s que ya no volveran SNAP THE POWER IN LIVE. Olvídense de los 2000 aqui no hay nada.
I danced for them in mid 90‘s at a show they had in Kaiserslautern Germany in Barbarosa Halle. We ran into Turbo B and a good girlfriend of us in a Mc Donald downtown that day.He was looking for 2 dancers since his original dancers couldnt make it there on time and the girl who knew us knew that we were good dancers do she asked us ,we were like whaaaat?Fuck Yea😳 After the show we were signing autogramms like superstars Lmao, one of my many unforgetable nights in my younger days🙌
