That's right - Colombia has a surprisingly good medical establishment. People like Alejandro Gaviria fought to have low costs of medicine, devices, procedures. It's great.
The yellow fever vaccination is an absolute necessity / requirement in Colombia because the risk of affliction is exceptionally higher. Hence, the cost of this vaccination is covered by the national healthcare system in Colombia - even for visitors. This free vaccination for visitors far outweighs the very high potential cost of treating any visitors afflicted by yellow fever. Be happy, safe, and healthy, Alina!!!
The person who knows the Colombian health system knows that it is much more than vaccines like this free, it is a system that guarantees almost all its population excellent benefits, I have been treated with very good procedures for less than a dollar or free, I have known people to whom medicines of more than 1000 dollars are given, free and many things that make the Colombian health system, not only better than that of the USA, but better than that of many developed countries
While it's true they have a good system. It's being strained by the millions of Venezuelan's that have migrated there in the past 5 or 6 years. Many with severe health issues.
This information does not reflect reality. Social media spread miss information. What you are saying here about the health system and coverage describes a developed country. It does not describe Colombia. Watch out with the information you share online.
@@Larry-jh8gf it is not a good system. People blame migrants from other countries like Venezuela for overwhelming the system; however the system has never been good. Please first get educated about the reality of countries like Colombia before making comments and spreading lies.
Thank you for sharing this vital information. You're the only travel RU-vidr in my opinion who does a thorough job researching immunization requirements for each destination and where to get them, whether it's Armenia or Colombia.
The city where I’m from in Colombia is also named Armenia. It’s one of the main tourist destinations in our country because the famous “Cocora Valley is very close.
@@bringolaselvapoto7418 Yes, it’s so beautiful, even though it has been heavily deforested. There are at least a couple of other wax palm forests hidden in that mountain range. For me, Colombia is all about nature. There are so many stunning places to explore in more remote areas that until very recently nobody knew about.
Take a picture of your vaccination card, as well as your passport, visa(s) and other important documents so you can always access them on your phone. I also get small cards laminated so they don't get dirty or torn in my wallet. Safe travels and thanks for taking us with you on your journey!
Hola Alina!
Alina, before leaving Colombia you must go through Cali and take advantage of the week of the fair from December 25 to 30. I offer you private tour with transport and female driver
That’s great Alina you got the vaccine for free! It’s really good that you saved $250.00. The vaccinations are expensive. Thank you for the information Alina. Have a wonderful day! Take care and be safe Alina.
Alina, I was suggested to take a picture of the yellow fever vaccine passport and save somewhere and if you ever lose you can show it to any clinic and have it replaced for free or a small fee.
Glad you did, especially if you are going to travel in the countryside. Watch out for dengue, not common in that are, more towards the coast and no vaccine, but trust me, it will take you down for a few weeks.
That's awesome that you got the yellow fever vaccination for free! We tried to get it in Dubai but were unsuccessful. Got it successfully at the airport when we arrived in Kenya; but wasn't free. I think it was $40 a person for us.
I had the Yellow Fever jab about 40 years ago, it is the only jab I have ever had a reaction to😁. Had mine in the UK so obviously free on the National Health.
Not free any more on NHS..well maybe if your GP is willing...but my daughter refused by GP,no pharmacy willing, even Boots and Superdrug had no appointments and that was paying..ended up at a private travel clinic ..paying a small fortune for vaccinations! Like the rest of NHS..more parts being sold off to private companies..look at dentistry..physio etc Sorry for ranting..but if Colombia can offer free then no excuses for UK!
That's really great that they have it for free there to help people have easy access to the preventive measures medical science has available for peopel to travel to rainforest areas more safely. It's too bad they charge in Canada (& I'd imagine in the US they'd charge even more than that too!) but glad you were able to find it for free in Colombia!
Creation of an electronic version of documents (using a scanner or camera/phone) ➡️ multiple copies (your phone/computer/cloud storage and computers of your close people) - my logical chain after the phrase "i better not lose it". And yes, North American healthcare prices seem like a great motivation to see the world :)
Good deal really followed you on this one, huh? Quite a difference between 250.00 and nothing!!!! Glad you checked on that because you do need it if you are going to go to dangerous places that will expose you to whatever is the danger. It is one of the things you should mention for anyone that is a traveler, even if it is only a vacation. Thanks for the information, Alina!!
Helpful tip by my bro in Canada, when I had my 2 jabs for covid, I put up & down my arm, did arm circling, put forward & down my left arm. No soreness same night or even the following day.
Good information, in the New York area they told me is about $350 but no need if you go to a city in South America. So I did not get the yellow fever vaccine, but, it just so happened that the airport I was going got closed for emergency and the plane was diverted to a tropical airport where I decided to stay, I didn't even thought about the risk. Good to know that it could be free.
i had one done in Africa years ago ,did not know they lasted for life so will have to find my card just in case i go any ware that needs it,glad you got it done and you are ok, ,take care
Gracias , Alina siempre nos enseña cosas bien practicas , en todos sus viajes, siempre se aprende, aunque uno no tenga la capacidad financiera de viajar, pero por intermedio de Alina , siempre se esta bien informado
Excellent information to know if one is traveling in South America or Central Africa! You always do such a great job of giving us very good and useful travel information. Thanks so much!
Thanks for sharing this information! I was wondering about the vaccination document you received after the shot - is it the official (internationally accepted) certificate of vaccination or just a temporary one? I found others online sources saying they did this, but they only got a placeholder document (not the official certificate).
Hi Alina, if you want to come to the Zona Cafetera i can help you. I live in Manizales and i can show You the coffee production process and the beautiful little towns and landscapes.
I got it a few years ago to visit Ghana for work. It was compulsory. They have health screening before passport control at Accra Airport. No yellow fever, no entry. I had to pay for it (in Scotland) too but it was only about US$100.
Harriet and I got vaccinated many years ago for yellow fever when we traveled to Mainland China. We went through our primary care doctor and it was covered by insurance. Well worth doing. Alina, you got it free. Does your insurance you have for travelers cover it as well. It's a good idea to do it. All the best. 💖💖 A Merry Christmas Alina🎁😍🎁😍 Be Safe and Stay Healthy👍👍👍 from Jim and Harriet
Hi Alina , Is this information on the yellow certificate that it never expires ? Unfortunately in Peru this vaccine only lasts 10 years . So I have had the jab twice already. It also isn’t for free, it costs around $20 USD in a Peruvian hospital . Also the Australian government will ask you to get it , even if you don’t enter jungle or country side , as long as you enter Peru you must have the jab . Hope this information helps 🙃🎊
@@bringolaselvapoto7418 Same! I was just in Peru and came from Miami and no one asked about it anywhere. Also, never was asked during my visits to Ecuador, Colombia, Costa Rica, and on..
Never been asked once for yellow fever in more than 8 years in Latin America. I lived in Jungle cities in Peru too. Unless things have changed recently.... Unless you're going deep into the jungle, you don't need it tbh.
I'm fairly sure I remember from my time there, it's available in quite a few clinics and hospitals in Bogota. (and other cities too) Probably could saved the Uber ride all the way to the airport, but hey! Good job! But I'd already had mine back home in Australia. At first it was valid for 10 years. But just as I was about to renew it, I found out that it's considered lifetime. That was about 2015/16, I think?
Sorry to hear you guys need to pay for such an important vaccine. We get it free in Turkey as all travel vaccines are covered by the national healthcare system.
An interesting video. You're going to have to have a vaccine folder with all the different countries that you've gotten shot's in. The immigration officers are going to be wondering what you're up to.
Yes . Get all the necessary vaccination. U will need it later as u keep travelling to others countries..some third world country have alot of other disease... better to b safe.☃️☃️🥂💝 Happy holiday and Merry Christmas ⛄🎄
Some Colombians telling that their government can render free vaccination and good quality medical services. That's a good thing that Colombia has shaped from being one of the most feared and discriminated countries caused by drug cartels to become a progressive country
Meanwhile, back here in Toronto people are lined up for blocks frantically trying to get the Covid booster shot. It is crazy-town. Alina you got out of here just in time. Congrats.
I’m scared because I need to get the yellow fever vaccination but I am 61 years old and I don’t take immunosuppressant drugs but I have symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and Sjögren’s syndrome. I don’t know if having those symptoms would preclude me from having the vaccination or will give me serious side effects.
Так можно и привыкнуть каждый месяц вакцинироваться против чего-то. Житель Новой Зеландии сделал за день 10 прививок от коронавируса.... Какая прививка по плану в январе?
