I absolutely love the taming challenges! I agree that Pyromanes don't belong on Aberration. I have the DLC and I still don't think they belong on that map. The Center and Scorched Earth does make sense but Aberration doesn't have a fire area except maybe the surface but there's no water up there. Maybe they could add them to the surface but Idk how they'd do the dousing taming method without water. Plus it'd makes the surface even more dangerous.

Build a 6×2 stone foundation, a 2 high stone doorway cage around you to protect you from the yi ling's attacks. Once this is done, get out and try and get impaled with enough feathers and once you have enough, get back to the cage. The yi ling will try to dive bomb, but it will collide with the wall instead, granting you time to react, throw the Z plant fruit and stun it. Feed it narcotics once they get stunned. Hope this helps :)

For me it's You don't lose stamina, and therefore don't have too keep up on water and food as much, also has more weight, could end up being faster cuz it has to regain stam less often, and you are more protected and have more fighting power if something randomly tries to kill you. That's just me though, maybe there's some different resons
