I'm an English guy who also lives in England. I work as a heating engineer.. and out of all different people I work for.. the Hindu culture are by far the nicest.. always offer hot food while working and drinks. Very kind hearted people especially this family. They do not have much to give.. but they will give it no questions asked. ❤
Yes, the people of India are very kind and respected by the guests coming from outside and as well as in the house, and yes, in the case of eating food, there is very little in India rich and poor that the locals of India are peaceful Have a habit of living
This Indian family and Harald's video has completely changed my entire perception of India. The Indian people are so warm and welcoming and are very full of pride and happiness unlike any other country I've seen. It truly warms my heart to see such beautiful people still exist. To be so happy with so little is a lesson that everyone should take from this. May God Bless the people of India.
+Chris Jones - Unfortunately things are changing very fast in big cities in India. Brought up in middle class household - when I was young in the 80s, we used to have a lot of community spirit with our neighbors/friends and every one used to stand up for each other. My neighbor is busy - no problem I'd drop his son to school. My mother is sick - no problem my neighbor's aunty would help in preparing food. I am sick and my mother is alone at home - no problem - someone in the neighborhood would be available to get prescription medicine or any other errands. One phone call and friends or family members are around. Now I live in Australia and realize those beautiful days which we took for granted. Everyone now-a-days is into the rat race.
@@RajeshKumar-jd3po This rat race you see, is it only in Australia you're seeing it, or is it also in India? I have this theory that the more "connected" we become to our devices, the more disconnected we then become to our communities. I'm wondering what your thoughts are on this. A lot of Indians in this video also have cell phones, but are they all internet connected in poorer areas?
@@TheChrisJones - I think it has become a lot worst in India than here in Australia which is known to have a more relaxed lifestyle compared to other western countries. The issue is that globalization has convinced everyone that this is the only model for progress and material acquisition. The culture in privately owned businesses and multinationals in India is such that people employed there are working 10-11 hours on top of 2 hours of commute. Many women are working too and everyone is busy with their life. Many in private sector work 5.5 or 6 days a week. Though in smaller towns - not much has changed. I think everyone in middle-class families has internet connection and/or mobile access. Though not much has changed for the poor families like the one above. Many youngsters in poor families have access to mobiles but because of poor education their usage is limited to whatsapp, watching videos, social media, news, etc. Internet access via broadband/cable for poor is limited because of higher cost, inadequate infrastructure because of crowded condition, limited money to splurge where internet becomes luxury for them.
Please come to India, I'm from Mumbai, and I will be very pleased to invite you in my home, and if you want ,I will loved to guide you, there is a strong mentality about indian peoples ,THAT they r rude which is totally wrong, Indians serve their guests as they r serving to the God itself, PLEASE come to India, if there is a doubt in your mind I am pretty sure it will be cleared, NAMASTE.
This vlog is proof that despite differences in race, country ,language, social background, economic standing , food habits etc , in the end we are all human beings . Love and mutual respect is all that is required to cross man made barriers. Thank you for a wonderful vlog Harald. This video is a gem...should be seen by sociologists who study human behaviour. 👌🏼👍🏼
For the first time I have seen a westerner sooooo humble. It bought tears to my eyes. Believe we can make this world a beautiful place if everyone has a heart of gold like him:)
west europe people are cold and not humble at all but south and east europe people are very hospitable and very kind. Country like Serbia, Grecce and Russia have people who dont care where you from or whitch religion you are if you a good man they will be good to you. 😀
About £700? Bald did the same for a refugee camp in Delhi I think. As an aside why do you consider yourself a kraut in some videos and a Norwegian in others Harold?
In a lot of hindu scriptures and stories, god often visits people's homes pretending to be a random guest. This is god's favourite way to meet and analyse behaviour of humans. So we are supposed to treat all the guests as gods. Because they just might be. Why take chances!
I love your videos, there are many Indian families that live in my area, they are amazing, beautiful people. They are all so friendly and will open their home to strangers and treat them like family. I have been all over the World with the US Military but never India. I hope I can visit someday.
Some uneducated or pseudo educated person on here passed a comment - So sad to see people still living like this. To that, I say, "Look at the happiness on their faces. Is your happiness quotient even 50% of theirs?"
A reminder that we don't need 99% of the crap we buy to be happy. Westerners (including myself) horde so much random crap that we don't really need, but many here are unhappy or depressed. There's often not much sense of community.
Yep, real talk I wonder how many Indian kids commit suicide like the depressed western kids who have everything, probably none at least not for silly reasons like being depressed because of social media etc. money is nothing mentality is everything. The ignorant can but talk.
@@FirstnameLastname-dm2xl India is huuuge. Not just in size, but population too, there's so much diversity. Indian kids have their own issues... like, a lot of teenagers in India suicide because of the education system, because it's literally so shit and partial in the manner of competition and pressure. There are plenty western spoiled kids here too, don't worry.
Ive never seen a child so excited to show off something a seemingly innocent as Homework. To this kid and to the family it seems to mean a lot that he is studying. Kinda puts things into perspective ya know.,
Trys to Invade India for the 3rd time and actually wins. This made me cry, seeing how 2 people from different backgrounds, culture, religion and many kind of differences who dont even speak each other's languages were so happy and curious to just meet and know each other. That moment was the happiness no money could buy you. Thanks Harald for doing this, it was your best ever vlog for me. And equally thanks to that Family for proving we treat a Guest as a God here. 🙏 Atithi Devo Bhava
Hello Harald..This family was incredible..So giving and loving... They wanted you to stay the night in their home... This is why I love India... Awesome videos. This is the best ones yet.. You are a good man with an incredibly huge and loving heart.. Take care and God Bless you.. 🍃😊🍃
Harold is really a great man.... A foreigner can eat in a poor and probably lower caste indian family but the brahmins can not.... This is bitter truth of modern india.
What an honor to be invited into their home for dinner! It was our privilege to be able to witness the kindness they bestowed upon you. Your kindness to others has been returned. 😉
How beautiful, they couldn't speak a word of English but there was communication. If only we talked to eachother, world be a better place. Nobel prize for Peace to Mr. Baldr
the most beautiful thing is the family clean their room for you , i think...coz in the previous part he room was not this much clean....they are doing all this for you Harald. ...Great family.
@@apoxfn He paid them... Shame on u man without knowing the fact, how could you say so ??? We Indian take care of guests as Gods ! So... don't be panic without any information on anyone !
Yes you're right bro they don't have to worry about paying anything unless they have light bill and obviously they just need to worry about food so better than city life
the more stuff you have, the more worries you have. I grew up like (in surinam) that until i was 11 and moved to Europe with my mother. we had a better life but with that came depression and stress, my first 6 years here was a living hell growing up.
@@alwyndsouza2351 bro dont just poop every where...first know the facts...our president is itself from dalit community ...and we respect every one...chutiye
One of the best vedio I have ever seen. I couldn't stop laughing when the head of the family man trying to say conversation with you in English every time but couldn't. Just generous hospitability which you can't find in the world but in India
@@theanonymous2974 illegal or u say it bad activities. its in every country. you should report that. or be clever to not get scammed by these fools. for me they are fools, nothing else. they tried me even many times scamming but lmao i laughed on them badly and they hung up ! Iam Indian too
This is heart warming to watch this! Just shows you can communicate very well even with the language barrier... What a lovely family 🥰 brilliant video Harald 👍🏽 he even offered you a bed 🛏 jeez not many people here in the uk would do that these days..they even blessed you before you left sooo sweet.
Ameer logo ki maddat gareeb Kar deta hai magar Ameer hi laat maarta hai fir money is just a paper jispe chhotr bade number hote hai aur woh hi laakho ban jaate hai we should respect every thing even a piece of rice love u from Chandigarh India hare Krishna 🇮🇳. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Harold should do a home invade in Beverly Hills..see how far he gets..lol. seems people with less means are more welcoming and share what little they have.
A little Info. on Indian Culture here : 1. The house walls can be seen painted which are Pithora painting, the ethnic ritualistic painting practiced by tribes of central gujarat. Colourful animals and floristic figures are trademark of this Art. 2. The married women were seen covering their face with a piece of cloth (sari in hindi) this system is known as 'Ghoongat'. The thing worth noting is that It was not traditionally there in Indian Culture but developed in and around 11th CE to hide the glimpse of female looks from outsiders (As a matter of fact India was continuously invaded from historical time by Greeks, Scythians, parthians, persians and then by Arabs, people invaded India and became a part of it), by time this practice became norm and is now a part of cultural practice. Some Historians even say that this practice was introduced by Muslims when they invaded India in and around 11th CE and became a part of it, but it is debated. 3, The picture of Goddess shown by the family head was of Mother Durga (" The Inaccessible"), she is representing mother Goddess in her Grim aspect. Her mount is a lion, and she is seen slaying a buffalo headed demon in the manner of St. George and dragon. (People wear their pendant for the good-will, respect, fear and love for her) 4. The red dot/circle put down on the forehead of Harald while he was leaving the home is also known as 'Tilak' Ceremony which is a historical religious practice done for the well-being and victory of the person leaving home. This ceremony is as old as about 3000-2500 years and was practiced by the Vedic people of Indian Subcontinent (The people who are said to have founded Hinduism or Brahmanism), known as Rajasuya ceremony (done for the consecration of The king) in its elaborated form but now done on a very small scale . 4. Gir Lion are Asiatic lions found only in Gir region of Gujarat once said to roam around the persian and arabic lands as well, now they are listed as an Endangered species in IUCN red list. Harald this is Mesmerizing my friend, all the love and best wishes. I think you will dwarf even Ragnar Lodbrok and Björn Ironside in terms of adventures. Hope you visit Saurashtra region as well. You can visit white rann (The region famous for white deserts/salt marsh along arabian sea, It too have archaeological remains of Indian Valley civilization said to be contemporary of Mesopotamia and ancient Egypt) you can visit saurashtra region, somanath temple, Gir and Diu island, all nearby (This Island is a union territory meaning it is not under the state administration of Gujarat but directly administered by The central govt. in Delhi and is not 'dry'. This island was a part of Portuguese Govt. till 1961 even after India got its Independence from British colonialism in 1947.). you can even visit Jamnagar (in saurashtra region only) it has world largest Oil Refinery and one of the world largest construction site. This place is total crazy i was there in 2016 and around 70,000 workmen's were there from all over India, Living in temporary houses to make money.
@@johnd6099 The aryan invasion is also debatable. Idk much about it. Some claim "aryan" or "arya" was just another term used to define nobels and not an entire race.
FYI, none of the points that 'The Overman' mentioned apply to southern states and many other states. Wearing saree is common in southern states but no one hides their faces. People don't worship Durga (may be in a different form). And so on and on. The point is that the cultures and customs are very different from state to state.
It's insightful commentary like this one that makes me scroll through the comments on a RU-vid video. With so many terrible comments (on other videos throughout RU-vid), it's delightful to have one like yours. Thank you.
@@johnd6099 Aryan Invasion theory has been debunked by modern scholars and historians using linguistic, antiquity and genealogical evidence. Aryans were native to the Indo-Gangetic plains. The Invasion theory was conjured up for political reasons.
@@RS-sr6nu Hello there, The reference point here is Gujarati culture as harald is there at present. If this Video was shooted in any other state i would happily shared some or other info. about that culture too. It is true that each and every Indian state is unique and have numerous treasures to be shared, in fact there are several local cultures in every state as well. Point is I refer all Indian culture under 1 umbrella term of 'Indian culture' as it looks more united and assembled, so this is my style whether you like it or not buddy. Coming to Worshipping Durga or Mother Goddess in Southern India, she is worshipped as 'Ammai' and also as War-Goddess 'Koravai', who danced among the slain on the battlefield, though independent in origin, was identified with Durga or mother goddess. PS : I lived in chennai (state capital of Tamil nadu, one of the southern state of India) for 2 years and totally loved there.
12:50 he wasn’t trying to convert or make u a hindu…he was blessing u a safe journey with a tikka (red dot) and welcoming u at the same time….this is an ancient vedic custom when some arrives or departs, usually garland of flowers are placed around the visitors neck, with mini teacup flame circluated around the face (diyas)......these customs are dying out...bt it was good to see him do the tikka...its a blessing really, may seem corny bt about acceptance of their guests wth full heart... majority hindu homes have a small temple (mandir ) area, a little section where images or idols are hung… …he showed u his religious area bcos it means a great deal to him, to him that was his most valuable possesions/area…u can see his face light up with joy trying to tell u… he might seem rich compared to others with all those extra rooms…bt he is quite poor.. he wasn’t offering u place to rent out either, he offered u a room to stay for the night ..usually after a meal many ppl take a nap..that is why he offered u the sleeping area…if u wanted to sleep or was tired as a guest , he showed u the other rooms nt to show off, bt to say he has plenty of space in his home for u
@Diego87 it might nt seem like a big deal, bt when u see so much horrible things happen to tourists in india an so many negative videos, an u see gd things like this, it makes u proud of such families... the concept of treating guests like god has been passed on for over 5,000 yrs… the concept of “namaste” (folding hands) is to see the divine in other humans when u bow or say “namaskar/namaste”…it clearly means “ I bow to the divine creator within u”… as in, we are all gods creations, regardless of who u are, friend or foe..etc an the concept, “Atithi devo bhava” which means: “honor thy guest like god!” Taken from the scripture: Taittiriya Upanishad, Shikshavalli I.11.2 (Vedas) as india becomes more an more westernised, these mini customs will be lost in yrs to come, ppl will consider them old fashioned an corny
This is what traveling should be, meeting with local people, sharing your cultures, customs and traditions, practicing languages, opening your mind and broadening your horizons. Not going to a gated resort that's only got tourists and where the only local people you'll ever meet are the employees.
*_IAM from India and I want say that the poor Indian families have 100 times bigger heart than rish Indian families...villagers are more kind than people in cities_*
INDIANS just keep smiling, no matter how worst their living conditions are!!! They welcomed Harald with open arms and didn't ask for anything in return. Keep smiling..........
All in the eye of the beholder.. one not from your way of living from a much more humble source could likely view your way of living is such excess and pointless waste and such high held importance of such meaningless items to impress and feel above and beyond your fellow man, well I’m sure they could view your way of living as equally as putrid and a much worse living condition...
Tapeswar Busumatary Most Indians are cheap asf, there are exceptions. It’s understandable since a majority of them grew up in poverty. But it also explains why they are so successful and hardworking.
@proud Dutchman come to Northeast India. Here there are no scammers, rapists or ignorant people. The cleanest village in asian known as mawlynong is here in Northeast. You'll love it here. It's much much better than north indian states
Oh my God how genuine those people living in such a small space but smiling and offering food with such huge cheerful gesture..please God forgive me if I ever cry for new stuff for visiting new places and all small things which can b very very valuable for those people...

What an honor for you to have a "bindi" applied to your forehead! In Hindu tradition the area between the eyebrows (where the bindi is placed) is said to be the sixth chakra (chakras are focal points of the subtle body); the one at the forehead is "ajna," the seat of concealed wisdom. The bindi is said to retain energy and strengthen concentration. The bindi also represents the third eye, the inner means of awareness which provides perception beyond ordinary sight. It is the gate that leads to inner realms and spaces of higher consciousness. Namaste' my Brother Harald!
Anmol Chugh You don’t have to respect my belief or culture as I only care about what’s right. So I don’t ask anyone to respect anything of mine without proof or support. Everything I believe and do is based on reason and not arbitrary respect like religion or tradition. That’s why I’m an atheist and love the west and America in particular. The only two things worth respecting in their respective areas.
Thanks Harold for helping me make a complete change in my life. You have no idea how much you have helped me to be a real person again. Thanks man . I was stuck in a LA thinking the world was people staring at phones
