This walk was a real treat, despite the weather! Lancashire sure has some pretty beautiful places. It was also nice to clap eyes on and spend time with Finn; it's been a few weeks since I last had her up in Cumbria with me.
Thank you so much for watching.

The ‘buildings’ on the track are grouse butts - places for people to hide during a grouse shoot so the birds don’t see them.

My grandfather Thomas pilkington used to take me walking up there as a child collecting sheep muck for his greenhouses, he was a quarryman up there and had his arm half crushed off in a rock crusher but luckily they were just pioneering microsurgery at the time and managed to sew it back on even though it was just hanging on by a bit of flesh. He was one of those swarthy tough but caring gentlemen

Walks like these makes me feel elated, the sense of freedom is so powerful. I think those small structures are shooting butts, there are loads of these on the moors. Have enjoyed my Sunday views. Cheers. 🧲

First hill my son ever climbed this, as a Chorley boy myself, you unfortunately missed some brilliant areas. White coppice is one of the best cricket grounds and villages in the country and round loaf is a must! Brilliant area to explore as masses of history and interest

Regrettably, if you had dropped straight down off great hill towards the road you would also have gone to hollinshead hall, a ruin of a hall that's wonderful to explore. Avoids that road walk as well as takes you all the way to roddlesworth reservoir. But a wonderful video

When I go walking with my Golden Labrador Pippin, I feel at peace and my batteries are recharged. I suffer with stress (nothing major) as many of us do from day to day, working in a busy international mess! And getting away from people, enjoying the local landscapes and taking everything in about our beautiful natural world makes me feel amazing.

Hi Glen If you like bleak moors. Haworth moor is just like this and you will need a map. Few places to head for are ,Top Withens, Ponders Kirk Fairy caves, Lumb hole falls and Bronte Waterfall. But there's literally miles of moorland between Haworth and Hebden Bridge with around 10 remote reservoirs

Hi Glenn, Welcome to my hill!! Do it verrry regularly as I live 5 mins away. The little wall structures I think are shooting butts… glorious 12th and all that. It’s a grouse moor, though they have stopped maintaining it and are rewilding it to wet peat land. Bit surreal watching you on my local patch!

The feeling you spoke of..I know exactly what you mean. I live in Southern Ontario Canada and it is a very busy urban area. Whenever I am fortunate enough to go up North away from the cities and the highways and crowds of people, I experience it too. It is like you can actually breathe. A huge weight is lifted from your body and soul . Thank you for this video. My Dad's parents came to Canada from Lancashire many, many years ago. So it was good to see what it is like.

LOVE YOU FINN!!!! Prayers sent on the toe.. agree you will be so much better! Humm a closed forest holds all of the energies inward.. compacts them as it were. Walking out into the open space releases them to the open sky, the wind and the flowing air rush over you and connects with your soul.. got carried away there LOL NEVER apologize for sharing how enthusiastic you are about everything. There is a power to bless In hillside loneliness - In tarns and dreary places - A virtue in the brook, A freshness in the look Of mountains' joyless faces - And so, when life is dull Or when my heart is full Because my dreams have frowned, I wander up the rills To stones and tarns and hills - I go there to be crowned. Them there little stone efforts are shelters for sheep in "horizontal" weather, i fancy. I used one myself when i got caught in a blizzard on " Black Hill" years a go. That taught me to have a "proper" look at the forcast. I think some farmers arn't that bothered about animal husbandry because i kept coming across dead sheep. I got talking to an old boy about it in the boozer in Hebden Bridge and he said they were only getting £25 for 'em. This was in the early 90's , if i remember right. Worst one was on the Rochdale canal near Littleborough. Dogs were rounding sheep up, and the farmer was effing n blinding at a young collie, as one sheep had jumped on to the cut, as it was frozen. Crashed straight through the ice, and just the thick coat on its back was keeping it afloat. He just f/d off. I was there at least 15 mins exp him to come back. He never did.

I think the mood of the moors is best with grey skies, personally and that’s only as someone who’s only visited your beautiful country once and absolutely loved it. Loved the picture of Finn in the heather, she’s such gorgeous little thing. As for now I feel when out in nature and away from people and urbanness - it’s my grounding place, my reset button, my peace, my inner therapy.
