In whatever strange case there isn’t another comment on it, the paleo rex does replace the original spawns. Same with the giga. With it installed I believe there’s no way to get vanilla rexs (other than spawning them in of course) and if installed after you tamed vanilla rexs you can then convert them to the paleo versions
I disagree. I'm not here to see the ocean in Ark, I'm here to watch this man get scared shitless by a giant whale ruining his day. I think the updated scuba goggles are a decent compromise tho.
Syn, it needs to be stressed that The Center's ocean has so much metal that it's comparable to Aberration's bio-luminessent area. Most of it is localized at the bottom of the trench on the side of the map. But there is some easier stuff to access and in boatloads too. Bring a raft out there with you that you can dump all the metal on sense it doesn't have weight. The first time I did a metal run with my dunkles I got nearly 30,000 raw metal on a single trip.
@@user-qm3uw6xl7j ItemStackSizeMultiplier= still works, and doesn't screw up crafting recipes like stack mods can/do. Although it doesn't give the same weight savings as mods can, I prefer it because of the crafting thing.
Dunkle is definitely better than an anky when it comes to respurce gathering for metal/crystal/oil I say anky is for early to mid game, then for mid and late game you need a dunky

@YourLawyer27 that's what you need blueprints for better equipment. Once I get my base established and get my core tames for early to mid game I start going for blueprints for longneck and harpoon gun. I've never understood why people want to sit there and use 80+ tranq for a tame that's so tedious. I go on supply drop runs, cave runs amd fishing it never takes too long to get a good harpoon gun. I end up only using 15-20 tranq bolts for my first 145 dunk. It's so worth it getting better BP than sticking with crossbow
28:30 Funny thing about Diplodocus and their inability to damage things: it's ONCE AGAIN an issue of dossier vs gameplay. The dossier states that the Diplo is a creature that's "very thick headed and trusting", and that it doesn't flee or fight back against a predator unless it has been attacked repeatedly. Additionally, it's stated that they're only supposed to never attack humans. So if they actually designed them to be dossier-accurate, they should become dangerous after a few hits. If Wild Card ever rebalanced them, I'm almost inclined to say that the Diplodocus should have a "rage mechanic" similar to the Giga. With the caveat that they only do damage when "enraged". Damage-wise, they should actually be quite menacing. One of the popular theories for the purpose of its long tail, was a defensive one, potentially functioning as an oversized whip that would even produce a cracking sound.
I haven't used one in a while but I remember the dunkly gathering mass amounts of metal when you actually hit metal nodes, like better than an anky. I used to have a little dock with an Indy forge on it that I could pull right up to and it was more efficient than using an anky.
I used to play ark back in 2016-19, and I used to watch you back then! No idea what reminded me of your videos but I was really happy see you are still out here and doing well for yourself. I work nightshifts and found myself bingeing this whole series over the last couple of shifts, thank you!
There is one Option at least on PC, i dont know if you van change it on console too. So you can change the percentage for a normal Rex getting spawned as a Paleo Rex. It is mentioned in the mod-discription i think. @@glamourandgloom
@@therexyogaming yeah I been trying out configuration toolkit mod. I got normal rexes back, and some paleo rexes to spawn, but no tyrannosaurs, or alpha Rexes of either kind. I also have S-Dinos mod, but no S-Rexes spawn either. I also wanted vanilla Gigas but so far have yet to see any. I sure do miss Simple Spawners.
The Paleo ARK Apex Predators mod does, in fact, completely replace the Rex and Giga with their Evo forms. Evos are meant to be regarded as full-on TLCs rather than variants like they were back in ASE. EDIT: Oh also, the other Evos the team has cooking up as of now (that have been publicly shown off) are Mosa, Elasmo (Plesi), Anky, Theri, Para, Bronto, Megaloceros, and Smilodon. While for new species there's Cryptoclidus (small stealthy early-game plesiosaur), Corythosaurus (meant to fill the role of vanilla Para since the Evo will be bumped up to a high mid-tier tame), Ledumahadi (Big bulky desert pro-sauropod who chooses violence at all times and has a rivalry with-) and Empirosaurus (A love letter to the superpredator spinosaurus of the late 90s-2000s, like the one from JP3, and absolute brawler of a beast who claims the desert oasises as its turf).
I think adding some piers that don’t stretch the full length of your water pen would work well functionally to reach creatures without having to swim as well as section off breeding and whatnot
If you get to the drop off towards the deep ocean there are around 50 heavy metal nodes. There's also a pillar out there with a small cave on top with roughly 100 crystal nodes. There's even obsidian down in the deep ocean. There are a few spots in the deeper area around your base with metal nodes. Happy hunting!
Hey syntax, you will probably want at least 1 of your gates on your water pen to be a behemoth gate instead of a regular gate. I know Dino depot means you can pick up a large Dino like a mosa and place it outside the pen, but still might as well add one behemoth gate for ease of access
Can't you use Fish Prime to tame fish? Name the Sarco Berries because he has every berry color on it. Go into the deep ocean for metal there is so much 1 or 2 trips with a raft as storage and you are done. Just put a cabinet or 2 on the raft and literally fill them up. Use the Anky to move from the fish to the base. Also i still think putting the industrial forge or the industrial cooking pot in the middle of your rotunda would look great.
You are right. Prime fish should also help. The cooking pot in the middle would look nice indeed. Instead of the anky I would use a Moschop. Sarco: Candy
There are indeed large caves on the center but the problem is mainly their insane amount of creatures. The game loads all of those in when you are in proximity of the caves and performance goes through the toilet as a result. Sometimes they even glitch through the ceilings and you come across packs of snakes and spiders in seemingly random locations. At least that was the case on evolved.
@Syntac do not get rid of the old vids anytime I've felt down and out i go back and rewatch all your vids I binge watch you as relaxation cause I quit Ark but seeing the good old times I enjoy it. I love seeing you tame all of these creatures you traditionally ignore! The center is so different from any other map, and it’s great to see that the series will be unique as well
Dunno if anyone has mentioned it, but with a water tank, you can remotely fill waterskin/jar/canteen from your inventory. Accidentally discovered it trying to drink within range of one.
The underwater goggles are great. The sense of nostalgia they give me for the days of 480p video is priceless! Look fantastic on my big 4k TV (Money well spent). hope I've been subtle enough so as not to causing any hurt feelings. (Yes, I'm joking, or am I?).
My 2 cents: I think goggles is a nice balance and it means if they break and you're in the middle of the ocean without spares you're blind. The ocean is scary BECAUSE the visibility is so low. If you can just easily skirt around everything dangerous then it's just like having a flyer on land.
When my game lagged one time i asked the same question, "what is my game loading." To answer the question your game might be loading in an absorbantant amount of something, because when i investigated my lag issue, i guess spawn glitched and overspawned for me but my dino finder told me there was a total of 877 kairikus in this area... and the number was still growing. Needless to say i killed them until the game stopped lagging so much i dropped the number down to 443, i had 5000+polymer 😂😂
Syntac, just to let you know, EVO rexes Fully replace All vanilla rexes. However, after yesterday's patch for the mod, people have reported seeing vanilla rexes spawn. This issue Will be fixed and only EVO rexes will spawn. Also, paleo EVO rexes now have a 10% chance of spawning when you breed Regular EVO rexes.
If you had a feeding trough in your house, then when the anky tamed up it would switch to berries instead of eating your last kibble. Or just put some berries in its inventory along with the kibble to get the same results.
Pyromane trap: 3x3 at the edge of the water. I have a large cellar door as the roof so I can just drop them in. 2 walls tall. Gateway on the shore side to get it out quickly when ready to tame, bottom wall next to it are just 2 quarter walls to give me a spot to poke it with a pike.
I've had success with kiting pyros to the island east of lava Island then shooting with a pump. On official, there are almost no spawns on Lava, but your private server might be OK. Make sure you absorb flames before the timer runs out.
Visual Storage Mod has a Crane feature you can use to pick up all of the resources from your Dunkly. One of my favorite mods so far and it doesn't dramatically change from the vanilla experience.
Dunkles are amazing. I love them so much. And theres so much metal underwater on the center its crazy. On official x1 I was able to get like 3.6k ingots(over 7k metal) in less than 5 min. And that wasnt even near half of the metal that I could still get from the cave I was in. That's just what filled up my Dunkle. They're also insane for crystal and stone and obsidian
You can go all the way down those Cliffs on the side of the map and even swim in the ocean down there. I find a lot of Angy's on the cliff side lake area with the ice ruins. There is also a relic there too. With the Ocean area I have swam a bit in with my Ichthyosaruus, but I don't have scuba yet so I did swim to the bottom. If anything that area is a big waste of protentional. There is more then enough area to put some island and maybe even a cave to put an artifact in.
The ocean down there is pretty much empty, of dinos and resources. Great spot if you need a HUGE water area with no spawns. There's an invisible barrier that keeps you from going very deep. but otherwise it's livable. Several ledges as you go along, even ones under the waterfalls. I just traversed the whole stretch with my Tuso to check it out, saw literally 3 sharks, some manta, coels, one basil, and a few X fish. Very spread out in small spawns.
I found an ascended harpoon launcher in a drop, then I found a bunch of harpoons in drops as well. After like 5 hours of grinding later, I finally found an ascended crossbow.
Pyromane tips ( I may have spelled that wrong) Anyway what I did was build a stone 2x6 open rectangle some where close to the pyro I want. Across from the lava island theres’s island filled with herbivores that a Argy can carry. Dropped them in the pen (hopefully your pyro is close by) lead the pyro to the water do your damage, ride them to the pen jump in and eat everything!
I confirmed with Cyrus just now the spider icon issue seems to be that the server needs a restart after an update to get the icons working again. He says it's a strange issue he's encountered a fair bit. I'm also going to add in a placeholder icon for when a dino's icon can't be resolved :)
Dunks are technically better but the big advantage is that dunk is faster in water than argie(what you'd use to transport the anky) is in the air. Also, the new ASA Paleo mod only spawns the new paleo creatures so no vanilla versions. There is also no more small chance Evotyrannus spawn or egg, they made one version that is just like a better Evotyrannus.
@@averagegamer1422 Yeah, as of now you can only very rarely get them from breeding Evo Rexes. They'll be able to spawn naturally in the wild in a future update.
I got myself some dunkys back on the island and bred them so they are great for gathering but also great in the caves. Can do great damage and receive half damage; put a decent saddle on and not many things can really harm them. You can get grabbed by tuso though. My main is called Ursala haha
I feel like the ocean looks more impressive without the fog I can appreciate the scale of it more with it being clear as compared to before when it was clouded
The Dunky does the job really good. Just need some way to bring the resources to the vaults. I would make a cage with a few wild Dinos (turtles)and have the Pharo attack them from outside the cage for taming

When moving stone from the dunk, drop your actual inventory away from the stone and metal. Then with an empty inv, pickup all stone and metal, drop inventory bag, walk 5 or 10 feet away, pickup bagged stone and metal. Rinse and repeat. Much faster than dropping everything 1 by 1
The only issue i ever had taming the Pyromanes was that nothing was ever around to kill because they just killed everything. So i would highly suggest luring some things near so you don't have to wait 4 mins to ride it again after getting kicked off. Also, they don't really have a lot of health so even trying to kill a low level Rex would kill the Pyromane due to the amount of damage you have to do to it to even ride it. Hope your process is way smoother than mine :)
Tips for pyromane taming: bring med brews and a decently good gun. I used even a ramshackle fab pistol and it only took about 3 clips I believe to make a 130+ roar while dosed. (most probably know this but you cannot hit alphas while riding a wild pyromane)
The server I play on goes to 180, found 3 174 ankys underneath around the ice castle. Oddly there were no kairuku at the ice castle, although they were found around the pond down the hill a ways.
They must have upgraded the scuba goggles. I don’t remember them working that well either but the fog wasn’t as bad so maybe they just work better now that it’s really bad down there lol
Tips for the Pyromane taming? High HP creatures are the best, like the turtles or even brontos. Less creatures you kill, better is the taming %. This is why you want look for creatures who are tanky. You can also fight more than one turtle at the same time and speed the process (after all the Pyro recharges its HP with Absorb flames). I built a raft-trap. Lured the lion inside and moved where the turtles spawn.
I had really good success with the pyromanes early on by using a raft. I shot at them from just of the coast and they follow you into the water (although sometimes I got fireballed). From there it's pretty easy to kite them back and forth in the water just pausing to shoot at them. I tamed a mating pair with hide armor and a primitive crossbow after a few tries. And many sleeping bags. Your equipment should be more than enough.
@Syntac Dunno if you're against a pulling mod or not, but I use "pull It" and it's super convenient, no more resource juggling, haha. Great vid man, just tamed a Dunkly myself!
Oh dude... go down deeper, As well, actually, there is more metal than you can gather. The Center has CRAZY metal spawns in the water, and dunkys are king for harvesting metal/stone. Actually, as well, you have mods now, why don't you use a stacking mod? Half of your challenge when harvesting is the stack size/weight. Actually, as well.
The paleo creatures have fully replaced the vanilla versions cause they’re not meant as variants in asa but as full on tlcs that’s why the names are also tyrannosaurus and Gigantosaurus and not evo or paleo ark…
Dunky is sooo good for obsidian. On Ragnarok i would go north of the swamp and harvest everything. Then id need a train of tribe mates taking the stuff back
If anyone needs a good metal/crystal location for the center check out this spot. South jungle Lat:56.7 Long:53.4 it has some huge crystals and plenty of metal nodes around.
Crafting Skill Potion author here. Unfortunately if I were to change that option to be enabled by default, that means everyone who preferred the mods default settings would have to go in and change their INI options to revert it back to being disabled. I tried to keep the mod as basic as possible and leave all of the other stuff optional/off by default. My concern is the mod has about 550,000 downloads and changing any of the default options now may upset a lot of people.
Go for that Pyromane! They're really fun. For an easy time, just go there when it's raining. For an even easier time, trap some dinos beforehand for a nice buffet. x)
Good video as always Sin. Tip for Pyromane Cross the water to the island in front of the "Volcano" and go for Turtles, their tankier and have a good health, best creature for the Pyro tame.
make sure to have REALLY good flak armor. bring tones of bed or sleeping bags, have a high quality pump action shotgun, and target mostly rexes. the creatures that takes the longest to kill the better because you can keep healing your flame kitty and have that taming increase faster. so rexes and maybe carnos, raptors gives some but not as much as rexes, brontos and sometimes carnos.
I really love the Dunky and the Plesiosaur, but it's because those are two of my favorite prehistoric creatures of all time. I mostly tame them cause I love them and less because I use them XD
Go in the deep ocean on the western side of the map and you will find enough metal to make a person who makes a solid tech base in PvP with 100 industrial forges happy
Just want to let you know Syntac I watched a video from another content creator for ark an over where the line goes 90 from top to bottom of the map on the right side where the ocean is that dark patch. A dunkleo can go down to the bottom there is a ton of metal nodes along that trench. You'll get a ton of stone too.
