What a supportive partner or friend you have it brought tears to my eyes , feeling the same pin you had at 20 years old has made me so sad and scorned but this brought tears of happiness to my eyes thank you for these videos
I’ve been watching the series and while I think it is absolutely great watching you young people talk smack about the United States and capitalism as you record this with your thousand dollar phone surrounded by all of your organic groceries enjoying all the perks of capitalism. I’m glad surgery went well and thank you for sharing your journey
I’m having surgery on April 5th L5 s1 tlif surgery. I also have pcos. So glad I came across your video playlist. You’re an encouragement. I was pretty nervous about the surgery until I came across your playlist.
My fusion was 8 months ago. My recovery has been brutal. I have severe leg numbness, burning & stinging. I'm glad to see you are doing so well! May I ask what kind of back brace you used? My Dr at NYU didn't suggest anything to me at all. I'm going for another mri to see if there is anything wrong due to the extreme pain that I have been in. The pain meds aren't even working 😪
PLEASE MOVE TO ANOTHER COUNTY THAT HAS FREE HEALTHCARE SO YOUR SURGERY WILL NEVER HAPPEN. THATS NOT HOW IT WORKS THE SURGEONS STAFF SENDS REQUEST TO INSURANCE, ONLY AFTER THEY APPROVE IT THE SURGEON SETS THE DATE.
Atlee, I hope ur continuing to recover. I spoke with you once years ago with your most awesome video with Nathaniel Hawthorne's, Don't Get Too Close. I hadn't watched it for a few years and thought of it today. It's still as good as it ever was. That's when I found out about your spinal surgery. Be well, sweetie.
I was the president of our local teachers union back in the year 2000. I remember insurance denying cancer care for two of our members. They were basically sent home to die. One was able to obtain care because her husband sold his business and the other just died.
I just gotta say, you showcased what post op and recovery are like perfectlyyyy. I had a microdiscectomy of L5/S1 3years ago, but recently re herniated. I’m sure eventually I’ll need a fusion, but quality of life is so important, so I’m ready for whatever. Thanks for sticking to the updates. I’m uploading mine soon haha
thank you! I hope your recovery is going as good as it can ;) I have my third year MRI tomorrow - I have been in pain recently so curious as to what it will show me. Sending you love and healing! xxA
I wish you the best of luck with your surgery. I had 3 level cervical surgery 2 years ago in April. I'm scheduled for L4-L5-S1 laminectomy with fusion on July 23rd. I've been suffering with back pain for 10 years & so over it. It's going to be rough but I'm ready to start feeling better. Prayers to you!!
I just had my lumbar posterior decompression. The pain is immense during the first few days in the hospital so be prepared to ask for the strongest cocktails your Dr recommended. I am on day 2 and Ativan is helping calm my body spasms down.
I know it’s been two years since you posted this but I am getting a anterior and posterior lumbar spinal fusion soon and I’m terrified but your video helped
I am 3 weeks out from S4 to S1 ALIF & Posterior spinal fusion and doing extremely well. I'm a 64 yr old female. My surgery went great, stayed 1 night in hospital. Other than constipation after I got home, I'm actually shocked that I'm not in pain or on pain killers. Just taking extra strength Tylenol. I'm so glad I did my research, chose a great surgeon, and did some pre surgery prep at home prior to having my procedure
When I had my spinal fusion surgery the hospital forced me to walk all the way across the hospital to the car when I was discharged, so sometimes you don’t have a choice.
I had 3 decompressions and a fusion. The pain aint no joke. I had the happy button also. But I still couldn't get relief. I really thought I was going to die in the hospital. Still can't move my legs. Hopefully the physical therapy speeds up my recovery.
Hi Atlee, I am currently facing spinal fusion in the next couple of months due to severe sciatic pain on my left side. This has been going on since 2020. After Dr hopping for almost three years I finally got a diagnosis of severe spinal stenosis, facet arthritis and grade 1 spondylolisthesis in L4-L5. I can still do quite alot just pushing through the pain but I cannot walk any kind of distances. Last august a neurosurgeon told me a fusion would be my best option. When they told me about the recovery time I had a complete meltdown. Since then the pain has gotten worse. I was wondering. How is the pain for you now since it has been a few years post op? Are you mostly back to normal doing the things you love? I am so scared I will go through this and still have the sciatic pain.
your situation sounds exactly like mine. I have severe spinal stenosis with grade 1 spondy also. I'm getting a laminectomy with fusion on July 24 and I am scared half out of my mind. My biggest fear is that i'll regret it and not be normal ever. My legs go numb and I can't feel my feet when I walk around the block or short distances (maybe a quarter of a mile). I don't live a normal life now because of this, surgery is my only option but I'm so afraid it will ruin me worse. My symptoms have also gotten worse over the last 6 months
@@clublulu399 My outcome has been fabulous. The first couple weeks were hard, with a good bit of pain, but really not bad considering major surgery. Now, I am not even 3 months out, and I'm back to work, doing all my regular activities (including household chores, exercising, everything I did before). I am so pleased with how my surgery turned out. But I did not have any major complications, it was straight forward. I am very grateful for my outcome. Honestly, I started seeing progress in the first couple weeks, (I mean, feeling better) and my symptoms of spinal compression are totally gone. I feel no numbness at all. When I woke up from surgery, my symptoms were totally resolved.
