For the enclosure glass it's also very useful to mention that it doesn't have to be new glass. Many businesses replace old window frames and have them around afterwards. They're considered scrap and making a couple extra bucks cutting them up is usually welcome. It's not like windows are usually scratched up bad either. Even if they are, you can use them as back or bottom panels. But Petko is right, talking to small businesses will most likely get you some kind of deal.

I started watching your videos 1 year ago. My arachnophobia is getting better. As I watched this video I was no longer shaking or sweating, just calm and watching with interest. Of course I would never pick up a spider like you did, but that's not my goal. I just want to live side by side with the common, small and harmless spiders we have here in my country ( Germany) without freaking out. Many thanks for your help. You helped me the most when you talk about how beautifaul they are and how you stay calm all the time even when they try to escape.

Hey!

For those of u with a fear of T's, there is another channel that can help that I've been watching too for some time called "Exotics Lair". I am NOT trying to take ANYTHING away from the ORIGINAL POST!!!💁👍🌟 He has numerous different kinds of T's, shows also how to care for them, handles them, feeds them, etc., I also saw a video recently he posted when he was feeding a T he'd had for over 5 years It was in the corner where he opened it up and the T got TOO excited and accidentally fell out of the enclosure 3 or 4 meters and hit the tile floor below. In doing so, the T's abdomen literally BURST open and he tried so hard to help the poor thing and stop the bleeding. The T died the next day, he was heartbroken and in seeing how he cared, so was I. The tear was too big and there was NO recovering from that. It was VERY interesting to watch and learn! 💁🕷️🕸️🙃 #Pixiegang #Crunchgang

Just a little suggestion. I handled mine 6 full grown Tarantulas for 25 years. I had 3 Mexican Red Knee Girls and I Arizona Blonde, a brown curly hair and a black African bird eater. When you want to handle them like this it's very important to make sure that your hand is steady and firm so that they will feel that they are stepping onto a solid surface. This one is big and Beautiful and very very docile. A T. worth handling. And No bad, But you didn't keep it low enough to the table and this could have ended badly. Also when she did get spooked and she fell l thought for sure that it was all over for her. Very lucky. Just a few little points that I want to share in a friendly way 😊

Petko aren‘t you afraid of handling such a huge tarantula? I mean those fangs are huuuge^^ I know you did it because he seemed to be quite chill but you never know. My man really got balls of steel:D Anyways i love your videos man! Keep it up! I‘ve been watching for a while now and because of you i managed to get over my fear of spiders and i find them super interesting (i wouldn‘t handle one though unless its a cute jumping spider^^) And since i‘m already commenting…what exactly is so bad about them throwing hair? Edit: I just googled the hair thing so no need to answer that but i have another question regarding that. It is stated that throwing hair is their first line of defense…so can it be understood that if a tarantula doesn‘t throw any hair (and obviously doesn’t seem to make any attempts of biting which is considered to be their second line of defense) they are "docile"? Lots of love
@cristiaolson7327
@cristiaolson7327 Год назад
Tarantulas have different personalities between individuals, and different venom toxicities between species, but most new world tarantulas aren't extremely dangerous. For an animal who is much smaller than us, and is considered a potential snack by a lot of critters, biting isn't actually a very good defense, so it's not evolutionarily advantageous to bite when that is more likely to get you smashed than to help you escape. That's why itchy hairs work better: they make predators and curious animals back up. If a tarantula doesn't think biting is it's last hope of survival, it's generally not going to do so. Additionally, tarantulas who are gently introduced to hands and handling from a young age don't really see hands as "danger" anyway (though to be honest, I've handled wild adult male tarantulas that I've found wandering along the road here in California, and they didn't bother trying to bite me either as long as I was gentle). There are aggressive, and even medically dangerous, species, but many species are inherently pretty chill. And as long as you already know a species isn't capable of inflicting a dangerous bite, then yes, you can take it as a good sign if they don't try to fling hairs or get into a legs-up threat posture that they'll accept being handled carefully. If you keep them, you also learn their body language, which helps you make a more confident assessment of their temperament and mood. They're still animals, and once in a great while you could potentially still get bitten, but that's pretty darn rare if the the tarantula isn't mishandled or displaying defensive behaviors. And if you are bitten by a species that's not considered dangerous, it's only about as bad as a bee sting anyway, which is more irritating than it is scary.

Technically, tarantulas don’t have hairs, they have setae. Despite a similar appearance, setae and hair are not related, or even truly similar, structures (in fact, only mammals have true hairs). The only reason I make the distinction is because the “spikes” on the undersides of the Theraphosa blondi’s legs are also setae, they’re just less hair-like setae.

Greetings and salutations! (Get the Charlotte's Web reference? Lol). I wanted to offer my congratulations on Croatia beating my country's butt in soccer. Yes, I am Canadian 🇨🇦. We can all be a good sport here in the great white north! I wanted to ask you a question: When you mentioned that it is hard to breed Theraphosas, did you mean just the Blondi or all Theraphosa in general? And why is it difficult to breed them? I am just curious as the Theraphosa are my favorite T's and although I would love to own several, I just don't have room for any more enclosures (6 bearded dragons, 1 gecko, 2 cats, hampster, fish and 3 children...Noah's Arc is FULL). Secondly, would Theraphosas also be more expensive because they might require more food? I know where I live anyway, in the reptile world, babies can be cheaper than the same species of adults. By the time you were to purchase an adult, it would have had months or even years of feeding and the care that went into an adult is much more than a baby. Is that also the case with Theraphosas? Thanks and praise, from Peterborough Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 ♥️

Hehe, sorry...at least you had fun with that early goal 🤩 In regards to Theraphosa's, I have no idea. All I know that breeders used to struggle to get a successful eggsac from that genus, and the ones that figured out what works, kept it for themself. Nah, food is not the factor here, just a simple offer and demand. Good luck in your next game, hope Canada can write down their first win on World Cup ;)

I think it would be cool if you got an egg sacrifice especially since you are not really expecting one

I have a T. stirmi mature male… I unfortunately didn’t get the chance to raise him myself. He’s not the sweetest. But he’s giant, and I still love him, even if he’s kicked hairs at me. I wish I could find someone nearby to me mate him, he’s made two webs already 😭

I think arachnids worry more about foreign vibrations than foreign webs.
