Fun fact, in-universe, we learn that Pryce's actual name is Daniel Wormald, and it was further confirmed by the showrunners that he is "Danny" from breaking bad, who runs the lazer tag business that Saul mentioning and keeps trying to sell to Walter for money laundering

Such a great show! Find it difficult to talk about it without revealing future surprises and plotlines but I'm amazed how looking back at episodes where I wasn't necessarily as invested they are so good and give so much more information in subtext. Excited for the finale.

I thought HHM’s offer was pretty good. If he does it himself, Jimmy would still never get anything until it was settled no matter what. Now he gets $20k up front (and doesn’t have to lift a finger) plus 20% of a potential $20 million settlement so even if it takes 5 years, he could get $4 million for doing nothing! It’s way bigger than a 1-man job so no matter what he can’t do it alone.

Fair point. I just didn’t like how Chuck backstabbed him by encouraging him to sell out.
@sallyatticum

@@kai_masters Chuck was being realistic. Jimmy didn't have the money to pay a bunch of employees to work for him and It was impossible. Even if he got a couple of interns for free, he didn't have an office or other necessary resources. The reasonable thing to do was refer it out to someone who could handle it. The backstabbing came when Chuck prevented him from being hired by HHM or even working as outside counsel going forward. I do think Jimmy cared more about working with Chuck than about the amount of money he would get.
@sallyatticum
@sallyatticum 4 месяца назад
(On the other hand, Jimmy is a first year lawyer and hiring him would cost the firm money, as well. Jimmy would need supervision and other such resources, as he doesn't really know what he is doing on a case like this.)

He's not really jealous of Jimmy(in a sense, not with being a lawyer) he really doesn't think he can change and he knows how his brother has been a con artist his whole life. Which is why he thinks him scamming as a lawyer is way worse. "Slipping Jimmy I can take, but slippin jimmy with a law degree is like a chimp with a machine gun." Yea Chuck is a shitty brother, but so is Jimmy(not in the taking care of chuck sense, just with everything else) Don't forget, Jimmy has already recently lied to chuck, first with the scam with the skateboarders, then with the billboard scam. He's still slipping Jimmy.

I agree that Jimmy has still retained his Slippin’ Jimmy persona. However, Chuck, even if he didn’t believe that Jimmy could change, should still support his brother.

My guess was that Howard told Kim the truth behind those closed doors. That it was Chuck's decision. And to me that would explain why Kim urged Jimmy to take the deal, without explaining why. She surely didn't want to tell Jimmy it was actually his own brother screwing him over. But I could be wrong. Enjoy your reactions!

Chuck's argument that he worked so hard to become a lawyer while Jimmy just slipped into it easily isn't very compelling. Yes, the curriculum at Georgetown would have been more demanding than the U of American Samoa, but passing the bar is still passing the bar no matter where you graduated. Seems to me, passing the bar would have been a lot easier for Chuck than Jimmy. Chuck supposedly graduated near the top of his class, meaning he would have been on full scholarship. Tuition, books, room and board all paid for. I doubt he worked even a part-time job in college, but Jimmy graduated college and law school while working full-time. No easy task. Jimmy never told anyone so he did all his studying in his spare time at night with no help, while Chuck would have likely been involved with several different study groups, his law professors and fellow law students who would have provided invaluable support when writing papers and preparing for exams. I think in many ways, Jimmy's route to becoming a lawyer was more difficult than Chuck's. Also, Jimmy never claimed to be Chuck's peer, and I don't think anyone thought of them as legal equals. You don't become a partner in a major law firm by working dozens of little, insignificant cases, but you can become a partner by bringing in a major case that brings the firm millions of dollars and lots of prestige. And that's exactly the type of case Jimmy presented Howard, who called it a "slam dunk". I think one reason Chuck intervened to keep Howard from hiring Jimmy was to ensure he didn't become a partner.... and therefore, his peer.

Definitely jealousy on Chuck’s part. It seems that he feels threatened by Jimmy’s success!
@pencil6965

bob and michael (the actors) have talked about how they both very much understand and empathize with chuck's reasoning here. from chuck's perspective of knowing jimmy his whole life and constantly privy to his scams, it seemed likely to him that he cheated on the test or cut some corners to pass it. even if as viewers WE dont see proof that he did. also no where is it implied that chuck had it easy, he was the older bro who looked after his parents, left to study alone and worked his ass off without a clear blueprint on how to achieve his status. jimmy slides in by sheer luck that he has a bro who can give him a job at a big-name law firm in the first place

@@pencil6965 Although Chuck wouldn’t admit it to himself, the real reason he didn’t want Jimmy to be a lawyer at HHM wasn’t because Jimmy was a con man in the past, but because he was jealous of Jimmy. Otherwise, why would Chuck hide behind Howard? If Chuck actually thought his reasons for not wanting Jimmy to be a lawyer at HHM were valid, he wouldn't have pretended to want Jimmy at HHM, and he wouldn't have made Howard be the bad guy.
@dogcat823

Yes and the fact that Chuck hid behind Howard and made Howard to the bad guy proves it even more
@pencil6965
@pencil6965 4 месяца назад
@@dogcat823that doesn’t prove jealousy at all, most people want to avoid awkward confrontations and conversations like that, especially with family. He used Howard to save face and still stay on Jimmys “good” side. He had literal valid reasons to not want Jimmy at HHM, including high risk/liability given his past. Chuck didn’t handle it the best way, but Nothing about that implies jealousy.
