I Hate Galaxy Season (Galaxy Fails with my Sky Watcher Telescopes)

I attempted to get Markarian's Chain and the Pinwheel Galaxy, and didn't have a lot of luck on either one. I am shooting galaxies with a Sky-Watcher EvoStar 72 ED and a Sky-Watcher Startravel 102, and both are a little short to reach galaxies. I tried the Baader semi apo filter on the achromat, but it didn't seem to help out too much either. I will keep trying, and hope to capture both of these targets before the galaxy season is over.

Great video. I really enjoy the humor you add to the mix. Wow! Too many neighbors with bright white lights turned on. Makes me appreciate my backyard a lot more (half acre).

Like you, I've been working on the Pinwheel Galaxy. I started with a 3D printed barn door tracker, Nikon D200 and 70-300mm zoom. I could tell there was a galaxy there, but not much detail. Upgraded to star adventurer and now have 4 hours of data stacked. Looking much better but not as good as your image. The D200 is very noisy so hard to pull detail from the noise.

I've never heard a sentence with the words L.A.County and wilderness at the same time. Just wanted to say thanks for showing the fails, I'm just beginning and bought an expert level scope and mount.....to say I'm lost would be a gross understatement.

Thanks for the videos Bruce. I’m learning a lot from you and your kit. And your images are incredible. I’m new to this hobby and have had some poor results some nights but I am learning a lot each time. There’s plenty of future dark nights to improve - that’s my thinking. It looks like a lovely spot where you are with some remote dark skies country to the north. Enjoy the galaxy season. Oh - and your lawn is looking in really great shape. I wish my lawn was as weed free as that. ;-)

I would love to take credit for the lawn ... but that is artificial grass. It looks pretty awesome for being ten years old though.

Every video seems to impress me more. If I looked at one of your pictures without any info I would’ve thought you’ve been shooting for at least a year. You’re a natural 🌌 (P.S., Galaxy season is kicking my butt too haha!)

Well... I'm impressed! that's crazy what this small steup can do!! I'm sure you'll get better picture in the next times. I just wish French weather were as good as yours... Anyway, love your work, I'm a new french subscriber haha! By the way, I've tried to shoot the pinwheel galaxy twice but wind and EQ6 who is not working the way I want... Trust me, you don't know what being frustrated is haha. Have a great day Jules MR
