Shooting RAW can three sets of exposures be made focused for each colour/color channel? The RGB images could be combined in a panorama tools program like (free) Hugin perhaps. Infrared and ultraviolet could be filtered out. With RAW there wouldn’t even need to be red, green and blue filters. The panorama software could correct for lens distortions and change the _projection_ of the final image.

Nice shots. When shooting prop planes if you shoot 1/320 or slower you will get prop blur that shows motion.

That's impressive that you captured all that detail in the nebula with only 16 frames. I'm new to astro photography and I'll be using a somewhat similar approach (no star tracker.) I'm happy that I could see the carina nebula clearly with just a single photograph I took here in the southern hemisphere. Of course that particular nebula is particularly bright so that certainly helps.

Great video, Bruce. I'm just getting started in astrophotography. Like you, I purchased the Skywatcher 102mm refractor. I got the go-to mount. I'm capturing images with my iPhone right now . Planning on a dedicated astro camera in the future. For me, the steep learning curve of the software and the weather are my biggest cons. I can see where this can become a true addiction. LOL Your images from your first year are awesome. I can definitely see where your photography background was beneficial.

Yeah, mine is on the way now, too. I love getting things a few years after the fact that I see how everyone else liked it tweaked it. Funny, tho. I just order first, then look at reviews setup while it's being shipped. 😅

How are you liking it? I was looking at getting a whole rig right off the bat, but to save me $$$ I might just get the mount and use my dslr with 300mm f4 ED lens. I see that it comes with camera plate and dovetail which is perfect to get started! Ill have to watch more of your videos to see your results. Thanks a lot! I think Ive made my mind on the EQM-35. OHHH.... also, does your mount work wifi too with phone app or is that the wifi model without remote? Thanks for sharing pal! 👌

Awesome vid! I currently have a canon sL3 desperately needing an upgrade since I also film air shows and with the sL3 have 9 autofocus points is just rough and impossible to track a jet. Good battery though, what is the battery like filming air shows with the r7? How long would it last?

I got mine just after Christmas and put it all together, but I need a power station that has a cigarette lighter port having trouble finding the one I want, so I have my toys but can’t use it yet 😢 I got the manual, but I bought a different dovetail and waiting on a small rig clamp to attach my guide scope to the dovetail also. Can’t wait to use it. I’ll be using it with my canon 90 and sigma 150-600mm.

No one reads instructions anymore anyway because we got accustom to setup instructions/manuals sucks (even more than unboxing videos 😄) and being full of errors, typos or is just bad made. I assumed that it would be more complicated to setup considering everything else related to astro, so I searched for setup instruction before even opening the box. It was the easiest setup I have done for years and im sure some kids could do this blindfolded. No need for instructions at all. Thanks for the video anyway🙂

Thanks for making this video. I've been putting my imaging kit together and (after a lot of research) I thought that I had it all figured out. I'm using the Sky-Watcher Adventurer GTI mount with the ED72, the Sky-Watcher .85x Reducer/Flattener for Evostar-72ED, a Fotodiox Lens Adapter Astro Edition 48mm (x0.75) and a Sony A7iii camera. The issue that I'm having is that I've got everything all set up and all I see on the camera screen is white. The camera is brand new and works great on its own so it's not broken or anything like that. Also the lens caps are off, the camera levels are not peaking and/or whiting anything out (had it in manual and messed with the ISO and exp...it's all still whited out). I took the camera off and am able to see through the scope just fine. Wondering if there's another adapter that I'm missing that needs to go before the reducer? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nice pictures. I just started in the hobby 2 moths ago. I have never owned a telescope and have never taken a photograph. Being elderly and feeble, I had to buy four telescopes before I found one I could carry out into the yard. I then realized that with my cataracts and a lot of local light pollution, I could only see 4 or 5 stars on a clear night. No no star hoping for me. So, I bought a Star Watcher AZ GTi mount. So far, I have not been able to align that mount and I only this week figured out why I could not focus the DSLR or the dedicated astro-camera which I just bought. So, I am not so sure that I will be able to match your pictures after my 3rd month. Good work!

You are a big man; Esprit 150mm or TEC 180mm could suit you better. Heavy? No. It will be good exercise and saving (no gym club). Now, mount that could be expensive. Ask your local government for education grant and get solid mount.

Lovely photos, thanks for sharing. I previously used the m-mount version of this lens on my Canon m6 II, and I found it ideally suited for "walking around". So it was a no brainer to include the kit lens when I moved up to the R7, mostly for birding. Combined with the RF 100-500, and my needs are pretty much covered. For those who worry about it being too dark at F3.5-6.3, this is not really an issue with the high ISO performance of modern sensors and de-noising software, like DXO or Topaz. It is also worth mentioning how well the optical image stablization works with the R7 IBIS, for both video and stills, which makes for even more versatility. Thanks for a good review.
