I mean, i just feel like he has been written poorly and represented horridly with the live action movie, if you want a good green lantern story with Hal, watch Green Lantern: The Animated Series. Feel free to disagree but I feel like Hal and the rest of the lanterns have potential.
You're right for but for the wrong rationale. They killed him off as parallax but retconned him back to not being at fault. He was the original GL archetype which made all the other GL's stand out as individuals. He was always meant to be vanilla so faulting him for that is pretty asinine. He was essentially forced on the writers so naturally, as the premiere Lantern, it doesn't make sense to single them out for him existing today. He is the evergreen and all arounder before the upper limits of GL's was known to exist like Kyle's creativity as an artist or Steward's extreme willpower and precision as an architect. OP is dumb af for just about everything he said but also I support him as a YT who has to make regular content even when he doesn't understand the subject all that well. Sometimes it's more important to be provocative than explain why gorillas enjoy their time in Paris. It's what pays the bills and gets comment engagement at the end of the day which is crucial to the channel's success. Failing up is a thing.
-Hal's gimmick is that he's overconfident and reckless because he always has to prove to himself that he isn't afraid of anything. That's exactly why he became a pilot after watching his father die in a plane crash. He's too self assured to quit and too stubborn to lose, making a weapon empowered by will perfect for him. -Green Lanterns are chosen because of their willpower, not creativity. Hal has proven time and time again that he's second to none when it comes to that. Plenty of GL events have proven that when Hal puts his mind to something it's almost guaranteed to be done, no matter how impossible it may seem. He's reckless, but that recklessness leads to him pushing his ring far beyond its imposed limits. His greatest strength is also his greatest weakness, but he manages to succeed in spite of that. -Green Lantern constructs that are detailed are cool for aesthetics, but impractical overall. A construct that has more details to visualize divides the lantern's attention and requires more energy to create, weakening its integrity. Hal knows this and creates constructs that are simple to maximize their effectiveness in battle or other scenarios. He could create a mech suit just to flex, but he makes big fists because they'd be more efficient. -Of course Hal would seem simple in comparison to the other lanterns, because not only did he come first but all of them are defined by how they differ from him. He's the template by which all lanterns are judged. But somehow, despite all of them being different and more "interesting", they all still fell short and Hal remains the face of the franchise. -Hal has his daddy issues, his bravado, his player status, his expectations of himself, his temper, his commitment issues, his distrust of authority, his need to be the hero who saves everybody, Sinestro (One of the greatest lanterns ever and his mentor before turning evil and becoming his nemesis.), Abin Sur (A legendary hero that bestowed him his ring with his dying breath, blindly entrusting the safety of the entire sector to him. No matter how much he does, he'll always be in his shadow one way or another, as he is constantly reminded by both the guardians and other lanterns.), and other things to fall back on for character if you wanted to know. A lot of which is explored in the stories you refused to read.
I like Hal Jordan because he doesn't pretend to be anything other than the typical everyman. He's good at being exactly that. Seeing his constructs and imagining what you the reader would have thought of if you were in his shoes was part of the fun. It's also why people think he's boring so a trade-off I guess.
Problem is he's also supposed to be a pilot and a soldier, which means he's supposed to be adaptable in the field while also being an everyman. But Hal is cocky and almost never learns from his mistakes, constantly putting the rest of teammates in danger. Alan Scott is an everyman. A typical railway man finds the starheart and, after seeing it reflect his thoughts, he crafts it into a ring and spends the next 80 years just doing his darndest to be a good superhero. He learns from his mistakes, he's simple but fair, he's not cocky, he helps out his son Obsidian with his dark powers as much as he can as well as teaming up with his daughter Jade.
@@9751matt you seem to think pilots/soldiers can’t be cocky. This is completely false. Don’t believe me? Look at the American soldiers who were bastioned in Brisbane during the battle of Brisbane riots. As a pilot, he’s shown to be cocky. He’s not a team player and never is. Simple as that.
@@GingeryGinger Yeah, but American Soldiers are normally encouraged to put their egos to the side and are usually the first ones to be ostracized from team missions and morale groups, which is important to any army and to be cocky while making the same mistakes or not improving on your "supposedly" unlimited power just more or less proves the points made on the video. Batman is cocky too, but he at least learns from his mistakes. Also, Hal didn't start off cocky. He was actually a lot more careful and understanding, a lot more like Clark Kent.

Though I recognize that this is exaggerated a bit for satire, I can't help but defend my favorite DC character. To sum it up, the best Green Lantern stories (mostly the Geoff Johns run) show Hal as not just a maverick, a leader, and somebody not afraid to stand up for what he believes is right, but we also see him go through a journey of emotional literacy and understanding, while in a vast setting, elevated to the degree of something like Star Wars. If anyone has this option (which, is valid) and they want to challenge it, try the Geoff Johns Green Lantern run, or the Rebirth run. I promise, it will show that Hal has a personality, has struggles, and most of all, is the greatest Green Lantern of them all.
Absolutely. Thank you so much for addressing this as I 100% agree. The Geoff John's GL run is absolutely phenomenal and was groundbreaking for the character of Green Lantern ans Hal Jordan. Even though John Stewart and Kyle are more interesting GL's and that John Stewart is my personal favourite GL, I do have to say the I really do like Hal Jordan's character and really like his story of emotional turmoil, habing to tackle the countless inner struggles je hass to deal with as well as his own self hatred for never being good enough to live up to his father or as a GL, but always persevering because he had the will to keep on going and never give in to his inner demons like fear. Hal Jordan in my opinion is a good character, and not as badd or boring as others exaggerate, not amazing, but also not boring. The Green Lantern stories are quite literally DC's Star Wars with dome of DC's best intergalactic stories within them.
Yeah people don read comics an just have these weird assumptions. I just saw a similar point made about Barry Allen earlier today. They don't know anything about a character so they just claim they are boring.

He can literally make anything and he makes the most boring stuff. And it's the same stuff everytime, just like he said. Even if he can't kill, surely he can create more than the same 5~ objects over and over again.
I respectfully disagree Hal Jordan is personally my favorite greenlantern and sits pretty in my top 3 favorite superheroes of all time alongside Barry Allen's flash another hated character. Hal is anything but boring his "cockiness" is to hide his insecurities no doubt made worse by the corps doubt in humanity. Just because Hal is basic and straight to the point he's smartly used the ring like reactivating Hector Hammonds nerves exposing him to pain he's held and moved earth with superman's help. Best part about Hal is that he won't make you do anything that he himself isn't willing to. He took the fall for the guardians by becoming the renegade. He's the best greenlantern for a reason. The man is will itself. Sounds like you limited yourself to the Ryan Reynolds movie.
Honestly Barry and Hal are boring, speaking for most of their history. I do have to give it to Geoff Johns for writing interpretations of the characters with an actual personality. But as being a fan of the other characters of the same mantle, it does get annoying that it's usually just those two that get most of the limelight these days.
I actually gotta go against the grain on this one...I LOVE Green Lantern and the Green Lantern mythos. Hal Jordan is, imo the BEST green lantern. Honestly, while he's not as complex as other characters, but he is definitely more interesting than Aquaman or The Flash. Not only that, but anyone who says Hal Jordan is boring must have skipped his entire N52 run or just didn't like it. That was literally the best written material in the N52, second only to Batman N52.
I completely agree. Even though other GL's like John and Kyle are admittedly more interesting characters, I still very much like Hal, and yes he may not be have the most imagination but he makes up for all of that will how much of a fighter he is. I like Hal Jordan because he has had to struggle with emotional turmoil his eentire life and only puts on a cocky face to hide thee pain, regret and self hate he has for himself, constantly blaming himself and making sure he pushes the limit to prive to himself that he isn't afraid, and can live up to the level of his father Martin Jordan who showed Hal that he has a purpose in this world, much like Abin Sur saw how Hal becoming a GL was always his destiny.
Completly agree Goeff Johns run on Green Lantern was amazing, and what he fails to mention in the video is, the Green Lantern comics are kinda the only place you can go for crazy space adventures in all of DC. This feel like the casual only heard of the live-action movie take. Hal is more of a green slate character you can introduce all the wierd spacy concepts and space polittics through, while he works as a tether to keep em grounded and connected. Also think he is intresting, because he is one of the only heroes that just plain up snapped, killed the entire Green Lantern corp, which also led to Kyle getting his ring in the first place, and what he still feels the consequences for time to time
@@IoiniEverson the recent Batman's Fear state event was pretty good actually and now we have sequel to White knight. Bats maybe not at his best, but his comics are still good.
Hal Jordan is stated many times to have the most willpower out of all GLs in the universe and all the heroes of Earth that includes batman and superman so I'd say the guardian was right to choose him as Hal has the willpower to overcome fear, plus he doesn't need mental issues to be interesting character.
Besides that Hal does have mental issues mostly explored through parallax as in probably has ptsd but fights through it so he would still be interesting but people refuse to accept that he is interesting
Hal Jordan is an incredible character. He's an everyman who looked up to his father and wanted to be like him. His father's death instilled him with fear, but he still chose to follow in his footsteps. That's why he was chosen to be a GL, because he decided to overcome that fear and keep dreaming and moving forward, making him a prime candidate for the Corps. Whilst embracing his emotions would be Hal's greatest mistake, allowing him to be possessed by Parallax, they are also his greatest strength, allowing for his redemption and casting out of the yellow impurity. The GL mythos is epic, beautiful and ultimately a very human story about emotions and how they guide and affect us, highlighting the good and bad that can come from them. And Hal is a great character who stands tall as one of the greatest superheroes in the DCU. I highly recommend reading the Geoff Johns run if you're interested, since I wouldn't be able to truly sum up why the characters and mythos are so great in a RU-vid comment 💚
Uncommon I Do Know Nothing L Hal Jordan is complex on his own for many reasons. 1. His arrogance and recklessness while having a deep sense of valor and sheer mental fortitude makes his exploration of his own willpower so much more exciting and engaging 2. For those who only think Hal is limited to light constructs mimicking firearms and limbs. No, Hal re-created Emerald Coast City, made a Kaiju, and replicated the solar system. 3. He is consistently written (with the exception of parallax). Compared to some GL characters like Kyle Rayner and Jessica Cruz who both have a lot of conflict within their character, Hal is portrayed as the rash, “head first”, and arrogant hero who has a deep connection to willpower and the Green Lantern Corps. There is no comic made by DC where Hal is not in character and has this characteristic persistently portrayed
I love how majority of this comments defending Hal Jordan. Hal is my favorite fictional character ever, i know he got some hate and some of the reason is because some think there are other GL that deserve to be the main GL than Hal (or maybe they love other GL than Hal), it warms my heart whenever i see fans still care and brave to defend Hal Jordan.
I like Hal because he's absolutely the perfect example of what a green lantern is. Green lanterns are not necessarily good people, nor are they likeable ones. Guy Gardner and Hal are good examples of this. Hal is the most powerful green lantern because he is the most stubborn, obnoxious, willful man in the universe. No one comes close to how much Hal will never give up. It's one of his few admirable qualities and it's what makes him so perfect as a green lantern. Kyle Rayner is the most creative green lantern and is often people's favorites because he is the best character out of the green lanterns, and John Stewart is the most relatable, but Hal is a lot like superman. No one can relate to superman, superman isn't known for having amazing writing and creativity, but he's known for being powerful. Hal is the same way, not relatable or creative but is so strong you can't help but love watching him fight. My only issue with Hal is the writers went out of their way to make him unlikable. Mostly the dating a teenager thing but Hal has so many bad character traits that he can't combat with good ones. He's brave and he's got a lot of will, but he's also annoying, sometimes creepy, arrogant, obnoxious, overconfident, and often just a dick to others. I get why people don't like him as a character but many people will also downplay how strong he really is. I mean are you really gonna tell me that the guy who has a weapon that gets stronger the more willpower he has and also has infinite willpower isn't strong enough to contend with the likes of superman? Superman often struggles with Hal because of Hal's unwillingness to lose. Whenever Hal is a side character he is always nerfed to make way for the main character and it always upsets me because I know he could beat superman if he wanted to, but will get killed by Para-Dooms in a still frame in a Justice League Dark movie.

I agree- there weren’t really EXAMPLES. I agree that John, Kyle, and Jess are more interesting, but this really didn’t give too much of a case other than his boring constructs.
He had no distinct personality, he doesnt use his head, he doesn't use his powers creatively, he doesn't learn from his mistakes which gets his teammates in trouble often, he has no interesting dynamics with most of the superheroes, and even his friendship with his fellow long dead character Barry is not that interesting(Wally and Kyle were center stage superheroes for a LONG time after Hal and Barry died). The writers sidelined Kyle and erased Wally and his kids from history for the longest time just because they wanted to resurrect Hal and Barry, despite Wally and Kyle both growing up to be better heroes.

I understand where you’re coming from, as a DC fan. But I feel like people just don’t know how to handle him because of the story limits and the cgi/animation limits when it comes to his powers. But for me, I’d give him family problems since he already goes back and forth with his girlfriend in comics (which I can’t think of the name of atm but I do remember her being a pink lantern or something)

Read Green Lantern Earth One, my favorite Green Lantern story so far. Earth one is a more realistic and grounded verison of DC. Hal Jordan instead of getting chosen, he found the ring, he later proves to be one of the worthiest, while the other lanterns were hiding, Hal jordan is the one who is BRAVE enough to try and change things for the better, and in the journey doing so he never break spirit, which is what willpower is all a bout. Due to the realism, it explains why in this comic he never construct anything except giant hammers or energy beams, it's because realistically you'll have to know the entirety of the design to replicate it, it's too complicated.
Yeah, but that scene in Justice League War where Hal tried to solo Darkseid and got jumped by parademons brought me no end of amusement. Appreciate him for that at least.
And thats what makes hal special he does not need any other driving force like anger ,grief or mental illnes well i mean most of the any way he just has pure commitment ,determination and will power to keep pressing on to his last breath and beyond sure their have been some storyline that kind of deviate fro that narrative after all he still is human ,but the idea is that any body no matter how boring you may be ,or uninteresting once you have the drive or the will to keep going you can get the job done .He bland for a resaon despite being "generic" to us there really arent that many people like him in todays world sure he may be stubborn but hes commited .To me he has not been cocky in a while come to think of it with all his been through you would think he would just give up but no he has the will to keep pushing.
He’s a cocky, a playboy, has an inferiority complex, distrust authority to the point where he openly mocks the guardians, will undoubtedly put his life on the line if it meant saving the universe, and he’s brutally honest with everyone, especially his most trusted friends and himself. Of course Hal would seem basic at first in comparison to the other human lanterns because they have his defining trait to some extent, bravery. Where Hal stands out is that he’s bravery in its purest form, being willing to take on any challenge no matter how improbable the odds may seem. The other lanterns can go the distance while Hal has already made it there and back.
And also instead of giant swords and fists he should make small once but very dense, so that way he preserves energy plus normal sized weapons are a lot harder to dodge than those who are the size of freaking buildings.
And if I remember correctly he dated a 13 year old girl in one of the silver/golden age of comics as well but I'm gonna blame the writer of that run entirely for that absolutely disgusting storyline

Interesting take. Hal Jordan is "bland" because most writers write him as a typical military man who wants to proof himself. This makes him bland for sure and most comics write him off that way but when compared to Hawkman I think Hal Jordan is definitely better written overall then the mindless brute that is Hawkman

Yk, as someone who's more of a Flash fan than Green Lantern, I could kind of see this argument for Barry given that they took Wally's personality traits and gave them to Barry, but this is just some bs. Hal Jordan is without a doubt, one of the most misunderstood comic characters ever written in live action. Hal isn't just some boring ass goody two-shoes who was chosen for his creativity. He was chosen for his willpower, which he has in spades. Hal's recklessness and arrogance is both his strongest ability and his greatest weakness. That arrogance and willpower stems from his morality. A comparison that I don't see a lot, but can definitely be said is between him, and pre-colors Sonic (specifically Black Knight). They don't care what YOU think is right. They don't do what IS or should be right, they do what THEY think is right. I'm no expert on this, but I think the Green Lantern animated series has a great example of this. In the series, Hal wants to investigate the Red Lanterns and the trouble their causing outside of his sector, but the Guardians basically say, "nah." So what does Hal do? He acts like a good boy and goes through a bunch of legal shit to deal with the problem... JK, he steals a ship and advanced AI, convinces Kilawog to go with him, and investigates what their doing. That's in the first fucking episode. Later on in the series, he befriends a Red Lantern, uses him to stop the Red Lanterns without manipulating him, indirectly leads to the creation of the Blue Lantern corps, steals a ship again to hunt the manhunters after being promoted, and proceeds to save the universe from a multidimensional space tyrant. Not because he was told to do so, but because HE THOUGHT it was the right thing to do. So no, Hal Jordan is not a terrible character. You're just a misinformed comic media consumer.

I dunno, Hal has proven his ingenuity in the past before with things like turning himself into a robot to avoid yellow light, found a way to grab the Earth and let Superman pull it without tearing it apart, and comes up with goofy things to catch up and beat beings like Superman and Zoom. Aside from that, Hal has had one of the most controversial character development in DC. The ring picked him for his honesty not his tolerance, so don't forget when he was kinda ignorant on certain politics containing social liberties that he had to spend tie with Green Arrow with in order to evolve into a better person rather than superhero.
The ring chooses the wearer. The lantern (abin sur) didn't give it to Hal. I think for the most part I like Hal as a character. For the problems you're talking about I don't think you know about Hal Jordan. He's the only lantern who gave up his ring many times. Hal frequently battles between the choice of being a human or a superhero and I think that part of the character is good.

I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you. Hal Jordan is the best green lantern and almost every superhero origin story is kind of the same. with someone they're close to dying and giving them inspiration to become something better.
Hal is an amazing representation of a flawed character, also dont really see how he's any more vanilla or boring than Batman, Superman or anyone else lol. So many superhero's besides the eccentric one's can be labeled as boring. Also Abin chose him cause he had the most willpower on the planet, when you say stuff like "He was chosen for his honesty" that's just not true lol Hal has the weakest constructs thats a given compared to artist Kyle and architect John, but his willpower surpasses them and thats so raw in itself. He is weak member of the Justice league because Hal isn't some virtuosic character nor does he view himself as a hero. His duties are on a universal scale not just the earth, he has to protect whole sectors of his local astral zone. I can't tell you how to feel nor am I saying you're interpretation on him is wrong. But come on man you read Sinestro Corp Wars, Blackest Night, etc and still think that ?
I don't like Hal ether, but my major gripes about green lantern lore is a little deeper than just one character. I hate how they handle the concept of emotion based powers, how they portray the powers in general, and the over all inconsistency of the cores. First the evil lantern cores how can you simply label an entire emotion as evil, especially one as core as anger. Anger is a response to what the individual perceives as a wrong doing, tuns of heroes are fueled by anger. I suppose you could argue that the yellow lanterns don't draw power from the user's fear but the fear they instill in others, which is an odd inconsistency as that makes yellow the only core who draws power from other's emotions. More over batman, DC's most popular and profitable character, is famous for using fear as a tool of justice. I say the lantern cores shouldn't be divided by the shallow labels of good and evil, but should instead be a complex mesh of competing galactic police forces attempting to establish order in their own manner all equally capable of creating heroes and villeins. Anger can flue a hero like the hulk just as easily as willpower can bolster a tyrant like Thanose. Second the powers. Every lantern core has a secondary power set, except for the green lanterns. And most of these powers ether make no damn since or pigeonhole the user into a specific role. The indigo lanterns can copy the powers of other lantern cores, ok that makes since because they're fueled by empathy. But then The white lanterns have all the powers of all the other lantern cores at once ... so how do they use the indigo powers? Shouldn't white's power be based more off the "emotion" of life than color theory. Then there's the red and blue lanterns who are just forced into their roles by their powers. The red lanterns have napalm blood which forces the user to be uncontrollably angry and will kill them if they take off their ring, kinda obvious evil villain is obviously evil and villainous. Then the blue lanterns can make other lanterns stronger ... but only the green lanterns. And they can remove the negative effects of other lanterns ... but only red lanterns. And blue lanterns can only make constructs in the presence of a green lantern. So why would a blue lantern ever work separately from a green lantern? If I were writing the lantern books I'd overhaul the powers to make more since on their own and be less like contrived plot points. Here's some of my "fixed" lantern core suggestions. Green Lanterns uphold order in a system based of the laws of the most powerful leader in the system which could potentially put a lantern in the service of a tyrant. And there power is they don't need to focus on a construct for it to be active, so a green lantern could plug a burst damn and them leave to stop the criminal who caused the damage to beguine with. Red Lanterns act as a revenge force, tracking down wrong doers who have escaped justice or who are too powerful to be harmed by the law and brutally exacting revenge on behalf of the victims. They could still be villains since most villains claim their actions are out of revenge and the red lanterns are forcing themselves into the territory of other lanterns. As for their powers, I say red lanterns can control the atmospheric conditions within their constructs making it super heated or cooled or even potentially electrically charged. Giving them a cool fire/ice/lightning effect and representing burning cold and erratic rage. You see what I'm getting at here?
I do agree with your first point a lot but I don't know enough Green Lantern lore to comment on the others but maybe instead for red lanters they could spew out molten blood since atrocitus has been shown doing that and the whole anger boiling blood thing
@@matthewhamilton2913 Spewing molten blood is the red lanterns secondary power. Maybe that's an alien ability for him. Or some sort of advanced technique ware the red lantern manipulates the ora around themself to the point they can weaponize their own body. He's the leader of the red lanterns because he's the strongest, and I'm personally not a fan of the strongest characters only being the strongest because they have the best base stats.
@@ianyoder2537 I can understand that but for some groups that might just be how they decide a leader, and when the lantern corps is based around anger and revenge, having the meanest, angriest, strongest guy makes sense like how I would imagine the leaders of other groups have their strongest respective emotion, in turn making them stronger
@@matthewhamilton2913 That's what I'm saying, in the comics he's the leader because he's the strongest. And so he should actually feel like he's the strongest. Don't just make him not louse fights or simply make bigger badder constructs, make him do something that feels impossible and push what the reader knows about what you can do with a lantern ring.
I think the appeal of Hal Jordan is ultimately an incredibly simple one, he's the one that leads the charge, not as a leader but as the one that soars into the enemy. Green Lanterns are defined by their willpower and fearlessness, Hal embodies it to tee, he would face impossible odds and punch through it because he's Hal Jordan. He's by far the greatest green lantern but not the greatest lantern, he said it himself, he's simple and will fly towards the threat fearlessly but one day it won't be enough and he will come up short, that's where the other lanterns come in, with their own strengths and weaknesses. I think you might be conflating character type for weak writing
He became literally will, almost broke the speed barrier, died multiple times and still came back, has been in every lantern core, been the spectre, a god of light which is just god, created his own ring, etc

hal was meant to be a very cookie cutter chracter as he was meant to be THEE green lantern he has some extremely well written stories like brightest day
My favorite version of Hal is from Green Lanterns First Flight, Emerald Knights, and The Animated Series besides that he’s just been handled badly by writers and cause the New 52 made him an unbearable douche bag.
honestly,i kind of agree except still,personally i still would want hal jordan green lantern to be on the justice league because im just so used to that version of green lantern being on the justice league.not that i have a problem with any of the other green lantern's

Any Hal Jordan slander is always allowed. I grew up with John Stewart Green Lantern from Justice League and JLU, I actually find Guy Gardner more interesting than Hal but John will always be my favorite GL.

Clearly, you have not read very many Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) comics. He has created so many different things with his ring. After the New 52, even when he didn't have a ring, he created his own ring out of willpower using only a hammer and an anvil. Hal Jordan's "thing" is his sheer amount of will power. He has the most willpower out of almost anyone in comics. That's why Abin Sur chose him, in addition to his sense of morality. You state that what makes Kyle interesting is that he is an artist. How is being an artist more interesting than someone being a test pilot? Hal most certainly does not lack personality. He is a maverick, and headstrong, a strong leader willing to take risks no one else--not John, or Simon, or Jessica--will. Go read Justice League: Origin. It will divorce you of the absurd notion that Hal is a poor superhero.
1959!! 1959 is when the Green Lantern Hal Jordan character was introduced to comics. So, this is why and explains why the character as the masked video narrator states is so vanilla and only creates Nerfs and stupid stuff as a hero. Hal Jordan reflected the culture and mentality of White American society at the end of the 50s. For god's sake, Hollywood tv shows during that era would not allow married couples to share a bed on network television. Remember what Stan Lee once said when asked why Marvel heroes are based in New York City...He wrote his characters based on what he knew.

To be fair to Hal, he was a character made during the Silver Age and practically kickstarted the more sci-fi centered world DC would inhabit during the Silver Age along with Barry. Hal was intended to be the stereotypical late 50s hero, the fearless adventurer filled with the American spirit. He's a character pulled right from 50s adventure serials and radio dramas, he was the perfect representation of a Postwar American Hero.
I haven't read much GL but I always saw his mundane constructs as a good thing, in contrast to the other lanterns who shoot lasers and make bubbles, he makes human things because he is human and that sets him apart from the others.
I actually just dislikes Hal Jordan and that's mostly because I only knew John Stewart's JL in “justice league unlimited" growing up so I was so confused when I found out he wasn't the main JL plus Hal's kind've a douche.

So basically you just want him to be edgy and bad🙄🙄,we already got that story with him as parallax(one of his best stories),Hal is a great character because he represents being a maverick,a leader,someone who is constantly brave and conquers fear to help others,if you see the animated movie green lantern first flight you would know,yes his story is very generic but it's also the most interesting one of all the green lanterns,he actually solves his problems unlike Guy Gardner who can't get over his anger issues,Jessica Cruz constantly has self esteem problems,Kyle Rayner is a boy scout and lame and John Stewart having to deal with racism is a very generic story also that writers have to give to every black and or minority character for some reason(and this is coming from a latino). It's kinda the same thing with Superman,people find him boring but it's just because that's not what interests them,because if you watched many of their animated stuff related stuff or read some of their best comic book stories you would know why this characters are popular and still loved by the fans for many years,not every superhero has to be edgy or constanly having internal struggles to relate your life,in my opinion I think when people find this characters boring it's just because they have a hard time believing some people actually got their shit together and they are just genuinely nice people(example;Hal Jordan,Clark Kent,Steve Rogers,Miles Morales,Barry Allen,etc.) It's mostly the writers fault he is bad,like Hank Pym,instead of expanding upon his story and improving him they would rather just start again and make a new character,for that reason we have like 10 green latnterns of earth instead of 1 or 2,they can't write well and finish the character arc for old characters so they focus on new ones who are equally as bad or worse) Ps* almost every superhero/antihero nowadays is super generic(you want something different watch the boys)
THANK YOU!! It needed to be said. I barely care with Green Lanturns to begin with, but when the GL that walks into the room is Hal, OMG I just couldn't care less. ANY GL is more interseting than him. Whenever I see Hal in any version of the Justice League, I can't help but wonder what other hero could've had that spot.
In my opinion Hal is a great character and the most powerful green lantern of all time and most of the green lantern shows has Hal Jordan in it as the main protagonist, so I love Hal and I think he is a much more better character than john and Jessica and Guy.
Two things this reminded of One in mk v dc this is the same argument lex Luther brought up to the guardians when asking for the removal of the Hal’s ring Two John Stewart actually is supposed to have the strongest constructs because his background as an architect he can construct things in such a high detail
its basically her being an immigrant to american soil and getting used to man’s world from being an outsider of only women on themyscira at least in her initial stories which was pretty interesting. now they’re really lost on what to do with that character. but that’s dc for basically almost every character except for the batman universe and to a smaller extent superman
