You’re young and it’s obvious you don’t like conflict which I totally understand. But the older you get & especially working in the medical field. You’ll learn to start sticking up for yourself. God bless you, don’t give up & FK them 😘

I work in a hospital as a transporter, yeah there is a lot of clicks in the hospital for sure. The older coworkers love to gossip and that just ain't me, I just stick to myself at this point. Do my job and get out, which makes for a very dreaded time since I basically spend my whole shift not talking. But I feel you, people treat you like shit if you ain't a nurse or a doctor in the hospital setting.

Hello Deborah. I work as a transporter too in a hospital. And i honestly agree. If you are not at a higher position, the majority of doctors or nurses does not treat those below them with respect. I was shocked to see it for myself a nurse mistreat an individual at a lower position disrespectfully, being the fact that nurses are seen as someone who's "caring and loving". But, reality hits when you are the individual at a lower job position working in the hospital. But, the good thing about it is, you really do learn how to stand up for yourself, respectfully. (nurse mistreating someone in environmental services & another transporter)

Being a pct is the worst decision I’ve ever made in life. The nurses treat you like sh?t. The patients look at you like you’re housekeeping (nothing wrong with housekeeping)☹️. The ratio for nursing is 4:1. The ratio for techs/ cnas is nonexistent. They can give you 30 patients and you have to bathe 20 of them 😰😰. I wouldn’t recommend it to my worst enemies.

I totally understand what you're talking about. Years ago, I was working in the O.R. as a Perioperative Aide and I had to stand my ground with a CRNA who was known to be disrespectful towards others.. One day she tried to bully me since I was the "New" person. She was very rude and unprofessional. But I held my own in the situation and stood up for myself and ever since then she would walk in the opposite direction when she saw me coming because she knew she was in the wrong. I wasn't putting up with that. I know how to be professional and treat others with respect but I will not tolerate being bullied in the Healthcare field! If you allow someone to pick on you just because you're the "New"person at work they'll think they can keep on doing it to you time and time again. You can't let people run all over you. I treat others how I would like to be treated. I don't go around mistreating people just because they are the new kid on the block...I hope you find a new job with a better cultural environment.

So sorry you experienced this. But, I know your telling the truth. I’m a OR nurse and have witnessed things like this on several occasions. I work at facility where we don’t have but one PCT and we don’t really bother him, because he is the only PCT. Therefore we have to do our cases and clean up our own rooms. But yes bullying is pretty much experienced, especially if the surgeon doesn’t get his/her same team. You just learn to shrug it off and have thick skin…… Yeap it’s crazy. I’m a nurse, who use to be a PCT as well . Good luck too you!

I’m ready to quit as we speak at a hospital I been at. I liked the nursing home environment much better. Worked there almost 15 years and wanted to try something different. It was more laid back. Hospitals are exactly like you say. If you are a pct don’t do it! Nurse ratio 1:5/6 and ours 1: however many on the floor and they don’t even want to lift a finger to help only give orders. I’m tired of wasting my breath standing up for myself because it’s a never ending battle. Nothing ever changes. I just do what I can, but the environment is so exhausting.

As for the newest generation in last 10 years coming in This medical field has become a joke and getting worse every day. Do yourself a favor get out and find somthing else. I am in my first PCT job wanting more experience before nursing school and after 4 months I am like ohhhhh noooo. I hate this job. I work PCU when you always working with 2 tech full house (30 patients) and they send people home or float people to another floor cause they feel you can work 1/15 ratio is another reason to piss somebody off. I am low key laid back type of personality and I would like a job to fit my personality.
@miachristina
@miachristina 3 года назад
My first CNA job was somewhat similar. There was always 2 cnas per 10 patients. Taking care of 10 patients was a-lot but i could only imagine 30 😳. Take one of those personality test where it tells you careers for your personality (www.16personalities.com/free-personality-test). I took one and it helped me a little to gauge what i could see myself doing long-term. However, I am currently looking at other careers that would fit my personality as I'm more of a quiet (to an extent. I like talking to people but i feel like i have a maximum capacity where i need a moment to recharge), independent, and laid back person. I quite my PCT job and i am a substitute teacher to see if i could handle being a teacher (idk 😳🤨) I'm also super interested in being a dental hygienist. I've done some shadowing and it intrigues me. Hopefully you find some success 💕

Working in a hospital from my person experience… unfortunately you have to open your mouth and not be timid. These people will walk over you if you let them and try to intimidate you. Also you have to work and want to work. Nothing about what we do is easy regardless of what position you hold. You have to hold your ground and stand up for yourself because theirs a lot of entitled people. Their mostly insecure or pissed and looking for someone to lash out on. Usually people they consider to be under them. Also, I hope you put in your notice before making this video. Word to the wise running to social media without covering your ass first can end in termination or a more stressful work place because their afraid to fire you because it’s technically discrimination but they have to be creative in making you uncomfortable enough … you fire yourself… best of luck sweetheart
@miachristina
@miachristina 3 года назад
I stood up for myself multiple times. I opened my mouth, but when I did, it was me against the OR. It got worse. It was the PCT’s against the operating room. I'm not the type of person to go back and forth with you over dumb drama. I thought that if I stayed and stood up for myself, it would get better. No, ma’am, these ladies were the true definition of miserable. I knew that I was bigger and better than the situation, so I decided to leave. I shouldn’t have to come into work every morning, be petty, and argue with women twice my age who knew better. This video would have been wayyyyy longer than 15 minutes, but I cut a lot of it out. Those people had no respect for me or my coworkers. Also, thank you, but I left that job months ago.

You told her she should open her mouth but then told her to be careful about speaking up after she has already said something to them about the work environment. Maybe she’s saving someone else from a toxic environment. I’m sure she’s a smart, hard working young lady. I see you were trying to be helpful though. I work in a hospital too and every place is different. They cannot fire her for saying how she feel. She didn’t bashed the organization or violated any HIPPA laws. It would of been illegal for them to fire her technically. I’m sure she knows to speak up now and not let anyone run over her. Good luck 👍🏾

@@Dass1996 when you open your mouth you can get labeled and depend on where you are and who your speaking against they can make your job uncomfortable for her. I been in her shoes and I don’t wish that on anyone because know one should have to endure that. But she seems nice and timid and automatically a target. Not wanting to step on toes , do her job and go home but ignorant people pick on people because they feel they can. I've worked in construction , catering , the resteraunt business etc... where teamwork is key. It can be extremely hard but when working as a unit very gratifying. Things get done. There is nothing more exhausting then watching a bunch of RN's sit and talk shit. The funny part is they sit and talk shit on all the other nurses but they are a sorority and PCT's aren't allowed in. Personally I like working with younger men and women because they're not jaded yet. They come to work and appreciate help. I know that being an RN is hard work and charting blows , but I'd rather chart then be up to my eyeballs in shit with a non verbal complete that had a bowel prep. As far as giving out meds the pharmacists did the hard part just don't f.... it up. There's ALOT of nurses out there that need to retire. They usually work at night where it's better to hide. In my time being on the floor you're better off working on the ICU or ER units. It's a higher quality of RN. I am currently in the same boat. It's a tough position to be in. I have to report to my Nursing Managers and you know at the end of the day they're down for the RN's. I'm finding that I just have to go through a recruiter and find a different job within the hospital because collectively no one gives a f.... Hospitals are completely short staffed top to bottom but especially at the PCT position . Meanwhile, young nurses come in and kick ass but eventually they fall into the toxicity by the lard ass nurses that trained them. It's a viscious cycle.
