I HATE MY NATURAL HAIR! (RANT) + BIG CHOP#2 | Tori's Stori

This journey has been rough and not at all what social media makes it seem like. I've been feeling this way for quite a while now and I think it's time for a fresh start. This time I will give more to my hair and find the confidence to wear it out and take care of it.
To anyone out there feeling the same way I hope you find guidance, patience, and appreciation for the hair God gave you. Keep pushing and find what works for you and your hair.
Let's grow together.

I know how you feel however sometimes we put too much investment and expectation into something that isn't more significant than who we are and should be concerned with inside. Our hair is not our everything, nor the most important thing that makes us beautiful. Find those things so we can be at peace and then maybe we will find happiness with our hair.

Felicia Wilks me too. I understand that feeling of frustration but stay positive. One style that you can do at your length is two strand twist. That style gives you versatility you can ware it down of style it.

It looks like it needs a serious trim and a good deep conditioning and a steady regimen using the l.o.c method. I don't trim my hair wet I always do it dry so don't trim yours wet. You would look beautiful with a good twist out after trimming it.

Your hair doesn't look dumb that's what society has told us for YEARS! Something I did was I stopped trying to get my hair like some way else and I learned to love what's on my head then once I did that my hair started growing and now I'm upsessed. But I have had the same feeling as you before to the point of crying. What I do is continue to try to find styles. Try Bantu knots then take them out. Try tutorials and just keep going and after a month or two you'll start to understand how to do it. It looked beautiful after though. It's hard but you'll get over it SO FAST TRUST ME then you'll love it. We can't see the buety it's not that the buety is not their. We can't see it cause the society we're in.

I would trim it deep condition maybe a hot oil treatment. Try Bantu knots I think it would look nice on you. Your hair already looked so much better after the trim just be patient and always moisturize. On days your just not feeling it you can do cornrows and wear a wig until you feel confident

I feel your pain, I did the big chop like 2 years ago, it’s grown, but it takes a lot of patience and a lot of trial and error. It still takes me like 1 to 2 hours to get to look decent, it’s mad frustrating. But, I don’t want to go back, so I’m just going to keep trying. I like how honesty you’re being here, I wish you the best of luck with your journey. 🙂

I HATE MY NATURAL HAIR TOO!!!! so i simply don't wear it. I silk press my hair once every month and leave it like that for the time being. After that month is up I deep condition my hair do a protein treatment hot oil treatment and a heavy masque ( takes the whole day sometimes two days) and then I either silk press my hair again or I get braids( If i get braids I leave a heavy thick moisturizing cream in my hair, but if I get my hair straighten a light serum is only needed). This grew my hair FAST ASF !!! BTW my hair only stays silky straight for about a week and a half almost 2 weeks and once its poofy and start to become stiff I throw it up in a snug bun for the last remaining two weeks to protect my ends and restrain me from combing/ brushing my hair to decrease hair breakage. All I do is take a soft brush to slick my edges back and do my baby hairs( cute and protective style for straight hair) trust me my hair looked EXACTLY like yours and now I am almost waist length. Bitch I went to college and came back for only breaks and I shooked everyone with how fast my hair was growing. Try my method tho it might help yours!!!

I'm going through the same thing and I was just thinking I am just going to silk press asap and braids every now and then.

I can see that your hair is gorgeous. As another poster said, you are not just used to the time it takes to invest in your hair. 4-6 hours to correctly pre poo, shampoo, DC, detangle and braid your hair. If you lovingly invested that time every 1-2 weeks, you will be in love with the luscious 4chair that this regimen produces. It does not take any skill, just moisturizing products, conditioning products, and a product to seal, the ability to to twist or braid and time, time, time, time, time.

I love my hair but I also freaking HATE it. It’s a Sunday and my hair is so short because I big chopped a couple months ago. I’m so worried and embarrassed about my hair. I’m planning to wear a scarf around my head tomorrow because I really can’t deal with it 😭😭 I’m tender headed so i don’t let other people do it. My hair is VERY THICK WITH TIGHT COILS AND CURLS. it’s 3c,4a, and 4b but since it’s so short it’s so difficult to manage. Awkward stage definitely:(

I've just became natural myself not to long ago n I know what you mean as it feels dry n what I did is cut the brittle hair n my hair is now soft n healthy n I've recently wore my hair out cuz I always wore my hair in a puff n just go to school but when I went out in the public I felt like people was look at me (which they probably was) but I felt ugly even though my mom said its pretty on me n I really wanna put my hair in a pony tail but its not long enough but you are very pretty n I know where you come from for the most part❤
@jodi-.-
@jodi-.- 4 года назад
Bree Rucker honestly that’s me! My hair is short and shrinks a lot but I would air dry it stretched and out it in a puff. In the puff my hair would look longer but it’s tiring doing the puff every single day and I know it’s not good for my hair in school. In a couple weeks I really want to just wear my hair naturally curly with some product. I know it’s going to be very short and I’ll get looks, laughter, and stares but what else can I fcking do? I’m so tired of my hair it’s like I’m fighting with it to just work with me. I hope I actually get the courage to wear it out in the Afro idk. My school is on a college campus so people be staring at anyone who looks slightly different smh uts like us black girls can never win 😭

It’s soooooooo depressing, Frustrating and stressful .. 😩 I’m in the same situation. 😞 I hate looking at my natural hair I feel UGLY!!! as soon as I look at it I hurry up and throw a bonnet on.. I’m relaxing soon and just gonna let it grow back out.. wigs/Weave are life.
@TorisStori
@TorisStori 5 лет назад
Please know that you are beautiful and that your hair doesn't define that. You are more than your hair. When I made this video, I was really at a low point and could not see past my hair. Sometimes we need help. The choice is ultimately yours, but before you relax, maybe try a professional natural hair salon. It costs just as much as a wig/weave and they can show you what to do for your texture and length so that you can feel beautiful with what comes naturally from your scalp. Stay encouraged!
@kay-ty5rx
@kay-ty5rx 5 лет назад
It’s a TASK no doubt. Having to maintain a tight texture every week is almost mandatory but it can be hacked. Protective styles, consistency brings upon internal moisture. Give it a certain cut and learn how to rock fros. Keep your hair stretched with two strand twists, take it down after a day and rock the results for a couple days. I know your pain and some days you just have to throw a wig on until you figure it out

I feel your pain. I think we have the same hair type that's about the same length. A style that I love is this. Do a moisturized twist out, and once it is absolutely dry, separate the twists and twirl Eco styler gel on those separated twists. I can probably send you pics of mine if you have a Snapchat or sum

transitioning hair is the hardest stage. us 4c hair girls have it the hardest. your natural hair has yet to grow in. braids will do it. and in between that continue to big chop the straight ends you have to do it wet so you can tell the difference. 4c hair shrinks a whole lot it sucks but it is what it is. i hate it myself but try to embrace it. stay beautiful babe

Just doing too much too it trim moisturize wrap it drink water and let it grow deep condition every 2 to 3 weeks it really helps put moisture back into your hair eat healthy and get a silk bonnet find products that will work in your hair u probably have low porosity hair so but low porosity hair products 4c hair is very sensitive so u can do to much to it stop brushing your hair and start finger detangaling
@e.o.a101
@e.o.a101 3 года назад
Girl you need Taliah Waajid start of with their curls waves naturals line and their Shea coco line. Btw if the great detangler doesn't work because you might be protein sensitive like myself then use their enhancing conditioner ( 3 in 1 product) from their black earth products collection.

I know this video is old, but I once felt your frustration. I was sick of the weaves and braids too, but it was the only way I could control my hair. My hair was 4c, but with a thin density. No one on youtube seemed to have low density 4c hair. I hated my hair and I felt that I looked stupid too. The amount of maintenance troubled me as well. The cowash, shampoo bars, conditioner, deep conditioner, henna, oils, butters, and hair extensions had money flying out of my pockets. And to top it off, my hair length plateaued after 3 years. From years 4-6, I remained at apl. No amount of moisture and product could help me retain length as the split ends were taking over. I kept cutting them, they kept reappearing. I was miserable. Six years in, dreadlocking my hair was the best thing both I and my wallet could have ever wished for. I could never go back to the pain of relaxers, but I could also NEVER go back to the pain, frustration, and distress my loose natural hair caused me. Straight PTSD over here.

Try the twist outs..stay with it girlie...trial and error...my hair won't grow and it's so thin,so I just protective style it all the time... I'm ready to wear my hair out too,so I've started doing egg protein treatments and deep conditioning to see if I notice a change.

oh yes forgot to mention when I started my straightened hair journey I wore clip ins as well to get a longer desired looked because I hated how short my hair was. and as far as getting braids I typically got braids every two months and left them in for a month. As a broke college student I didn't have money to pay for someone to do my hair so I had to learn by youtube videos and I found a method that worked great for me and now its easy to do box braids on myself
@dontbelongherefromanotherp9807
Are you using products that works best for your curl pattern? Also, going natural is a trial and error process when finding the right products. Deep conditioning is key
@officially.destinee2597

BTW I only clip my ends when needed. If i split ends I simply cut it off. I don't just go cutting my ends because other people say when to .

Ur hair is meant to mat together that's when the hair flourish. You constantly combing it out and keeping it an afro is not going to do ur hair justice. Get some 2 strand twists.. Get some braids.. Or loc it up. Watch ur hair flourish.

its going to take time to change your expectations of your hair. if youve been relaxes you expect a certain look and feel. your hair looks incredibly damage and dry. find a hair texture twin and take notes. so many women with your texture have luxurious, healthy, long hair. baby girl weve all been there. braids and weaves may be counterproductive. they may not be a true protective style. stay down your face looks its best with your GOD Given hair. your hair compliments your bone structure and skin like none other.

It seems to me like you just need a professional haircut. The right cut would probably make it less frustration and more attractive. I personally think that you should do whatever makes you happy even if you want to use chemicals. This is a country full people who are unnatural in some way...you do you. Maybe you should also look at the hairdos of other people and that might give you an idea of what you might want to do with your hair.
