This is up there with the guy with a couple boomslangs and an inland taipan, lord have mercy on whomever breaks into that guys house because mercy is not on any of those snakes bingo cards.
He is an every day pet just like a dog or a cat. Yes his enclosure did cost a little bit to build and I had to give up my bonus room above my garage for him, but he’s totally worth it. Yes, his food is a little bit more expensive. I live in Florida so the temperature humidity control comes naturally, so I don’t really need to spend money to do that.
I was half expecting him to wag his tail when he saw you, because you went in with the same energy I do with my dog 😂😂 but then just being hit with absolutely no emotion lmao (that I can read)
Hi. The lack of body movement is the body language I’m looking for. It means he’s relaxed and is open to an interaction. If he hissed or puffed up his throat (which he has never done) I’d back up and leave him r room. He’s super sweet and loves any and all attention he gets. He’s never been aggressive, mean, defensive or a threat to me. He’s so sweet and just a gentle giant.
The lack of reaction is the response I’m looking for. It means he’s relaxed and comfortable in his space. Yes i use the same energy as i do with my dogs and cats. Dexter is very socialized he loves people and love to give and get attention and food he loves food! 🤣
@@TheHappyMonitorbro id nope out just chillin then you see him stroll in my buddy had a small svanha he gave a whole room to it was sketchy but he had wood floors so you could run because it would treadmill but i always wortied about if it got to the cloth of the couch before i could get away lol
He can also turn on the water faucets. I had to take the handles off the faucet and use the valves to turn the water off to the faucet because he turned it on and overflowed his tub and the room he was in I’ll look for the video and post it.
I'll admire this beast from a distance...... I've always been terrified of lizards, snakes, turtles, frogs, and such..... I'm 54 so I don't see that changing 🥺🥺🥺
That is OK. Dexter‘s not for everybody reptiles aren’t for everybody, but I do appreciate you stopping by watching the video and giving me a comment. I think the more you watch our videos the more Dexter will grow on you.😊
He is very relaxed, and does not tense up or run away when she comes in. Licking the tongue across the sides of their mouth is also a sign that they are relaxed and curious
He’s calm, confident and relaxed. That’s why he can sleep in the middle of the floor and not fear that something’s gonna come in and eat him or harm him.
I was 10 when somebody told me that modern lizards are descendants of dinosaurs, I was so blown out by the fact that I caught a house lizard a week later and kept it as a pet ngl I felt like real life John Hammond.
Yo this guy is cool 🦎 Almost looked like a 'small' Komodo Dragon on my screen when scrolling thru... He's got his own room tho. That's a good idea for a lizard that size
Safety first always the heavy locks on the door to keep him from opening the door from the inside and stopping somebody who doesn’t know that he’s in there from opening the door on the outside
_The oscillating, wave-like motion of some tongue flicks creates vortices of air that maximize particle collection from the environment. Additionally, the tines of the forked tongue point upwards during the downstroke to better intersect these vortices. This tongue-flicking behavior provides reptiles with enhanced chemosensory abilities to locate prey, avoid predators, identify conspecifics, and navigate their surroundings._
@@TheHappyMonitor HOW COOL!! I’m new to your videos (just saw this one and subbed because monitor lizards are awesome!), and I love that he has his own room (the Lizard Lounge?)to hang out in!
@@LchanOtakudom thank you so much. I appreciate you stopping by and watching my videos. I try to post every day and I’m always open to answer questions about Dexter.
Thank you Dexter is a melanistic Asian water monitor or commonly known as a black dragon. He was bred to be a deep black, almost like velvet look to him .
