My mini trail bike was a stupid purchase. I want something I can learn to wheelie, stoppie, do some trail riding, basically have the childhood dirt bike experience many of you had. So I think I found the perfect bike for that.

Dirt bike bandit! Ouuuuu, I'm telling on you! The last time I rode on the street on a mini bike was when I was 14yrs old. Not old enough to drive myself and didn't have a truck to go to the track or riding spot. Now a days, there are no riding spots here in Phoenix, Arizona. All taken due to home development. Have fun. My wife and myself are buying new bikes in January so that she can go riding with me. It will be her first street bike. Planning to get a 24' Yamaha Tracer 9 GT plus for me and a 24' Honda CB500X for her.

I bought my grand daughter the one from amazon for about 1500. She's 14 and its her first dirt bike. She rides it after school everyday. She insists on using 93 octane gas. She loves it. I also had a Honda 50 when I was a kid. I'm 57 and now have a 2018 Indian Chief Vintage. Damn, been riding over 50 years.

My first bike was 1969 175 Yamaha Enduro in San Francisco, the big hills made for great jumps, so did the two giant reservoirs that were never used to hold water. The steep walls made for all kinds of fun riding. S.F.also had plenty of off road riding if you knew where it was, being young and fearless was fun.

Kickstarting - First item is hold the front brake on while kicking, that'll keep you from rolling the throttle a ton while hopping up and down, and helps if the bad thing happens and it decides to drop into gear when you kick. Second, spend some time just slowly rolling the motor over with your foot and kickstart lever, you'll feel there are different spots the motor can be where it rolls over easy, or hard then easy, etc. When you're going to actually kick it through first roll it over till you hit that first bit of real resistance, bump it just past, let the lever all the way back up, THEN give it a solid kick. That gets you just past TDC on the compression stroke so you don't have to try and get things moving past it, instead you spin the motor up and the flywheel should do the rest. Also, boots, you'll put holes in your shoes real quick, and your foot will appreciate not having to fight the kicker against your arch all the time.

@771racing

@@dannyjamison8337 So, I learned this on a built mini that put holes in MX boots, and nearly cracked my shin more than once, they can all kick back, some more violently than others. Good technique works on all of them even when they've got no compression or timing. Holding the front brake also has a side effect of making the bike more stable which helps with confidence for those not used to starting bikes the old fashioned way.

@6:44 don't worry doodle, it's part of the adolescent dirtbike experience. I mean... why do garages even have windows? So laying down the bike, breaking either a window or some wall board in the garage... all part of the checklist. Next? Skinned knee or elbow. Maube a small branch to the ribs. Rites of passage. Very proud of you. Have fun. Ramps are ok. We used to do those on our bicycles. For the dirt bikes, we ended up using piles of dirt ( just make sure it is packed down hard and not loose soil) when my parents were land escaping when they were building our new house.

To kick start. Push down on the kickstarter lever to the point where it resists. Rest for a second to sort of gather yourself and make sure your balance is good. (It's kind of tricky to kick from a mid height foot position, so a moments concentration is good.) Then either push down hard on the kick-start lever. Ot just push your leg down, as if you were pushing your leg down straight, but put some muscle into it. Some people put some body weight lowering, into the push on the kick-starter also. However once you got it - then it's easy, and you never forget. Gonna be fun getting your future vids on this bike.
@damianwright3690
@damianwright3690 Год назад
For your current ramp before you start going bigger - see if you can land both wheels at the same time, or rear wheel slightly ahead of (landing/contacting the ground before the) front wheel. It will take weight shift to the rear (including a small leg press at some point, I think it is about or just after leaving the ramp), and holding the throttle on (not necessarily accelerating, but definitely not slowing - slowing will lead to front wheel drop until you learn how to weight shift to counter, and even then it can still be a problem). Landing front wheel first can be a hazard if you're landing on uneven ground (sloping to left or right, or rutted, or random stones that can roll on a hard sub surface). It also tends to jerk your weight forward on the bike, which could end up with you going tail over tea kettle. Your riding instructors will definitely have better suggestions than me, check with them.

Entertaining content, but I do get concerned for her safety and well ❤️‍🩹 being, as I do yours! Good luck and ride safe! Take care! One more thing! What you said at the end makes sense, just drop everything and go for a ride! A lot of times that's enough to overcome a stressful day, but sometimes those enigmatic and invisible forces are hard at work keeping you feeling overwhelmed and defeated, but where there's life, there is hope, and all that agony and despair, shall also pass somehow! Ahhh I remember those days! Now I have supermotos! When you are learning to wheelie the #1 rule is to hover your foot over the rear brake AT ALL TIMES!!! Drill that into your head it will save you if you go too far back! The rear brake will set the bike down if you go past balance point. #2 rule is Do NOT hit the rear brake hard with the clutch lever pulled while in a wheelie. This will cause the front end to VOILENTLY smash back down and "mousetrap". Since its just a cheap Apollo ( I still have my apollo 140 ^_^ ) then it would be ok to experiment with these two things just to learn what can happen but please dont mousetrap from like 12 o'clock or you can hurt your wrists pretty good..... What you really want to do is start learning from a slow roll every bike has a sweet spot of where it will come up with ease but not too fast. On that bike being a 125 I would suspect a slow roll in first gear just fast enough that you have balance. Then keep gently revving the bike and popping the clutch until you figure out how much throttle input will loft the front wheel. Once you have found this point you need to keep increasing the revs little at a time until the wheel picks up to about 1ft off the ground and nothing more.... This will keep you safe while you learn to set it down. Now that you can pick the wheel up you need to practice doing this and hitting the rear brake to set it down..... clutch up... rear brake set it down.... repeat that several times.... you need to drill that rear brake muscle memory into your head because its not going to come naturally if you end up past balance point and you panic... The main thing people without that muscle memory do is duck waddle.... feet come off the pegs and you try and walk behind the bike.... its a natural instinct and your brain trying to save you but it wont work.... Keep your feet on the pegs and keep hitting the rear brake to set it down for a while. When you are comfortable with that try picking the wheel up higher and higher. Eventually with enough practice you will be able to ride them out! The first few times you reach balance point you need to rear brake and set it down to learn that feeling. Balance point is always a little scary at first especially on a full size dirt bike because you are UP there. You have to overcome your brain telling you this shouldn't be happening and causing a panic situation. So the first few times you reach that point you WILL know and need to be able to hit the rear brake and save it rather than panic. When you can reach balance point comfortably congrats! Now you just need to work on throttle input and brake input together and you can keep them going. You can shift up by lightly rolling off the throttle clicking up a gear and keep the wheelie going longer, but DO NOT clutch while shifting up UNLESS you are at balance point otherwise the bike will fall out of the wheelie when you pull the clutch as there is no longer torque to hold you up. You got this! Just takes seat time and the will to learn.

Invest in all of the padding you can get your hands on. Part of learning, especially stunting, involves crashing. Dress for the crash. When learning wheelies the rear brake is your best friend. If you find that your front wheel is too high, tapping the rear brake will always bring it back to earth. Most Stunters add a finger lever to engage the rear brake. The finger lever gives you more control than a stiff boot on a pedal. There are 2 parts of your body that will be contacting the ground if you wheelie over. Your knees and the palms of your hand. Be sure to pad them up. Remember it took the rest of us decades to learn, don't rush yourself and always practice in the dirt. It is more forgiving than pavement.

If you’re looking for REAL fun with your new mini dirt bike, put some street wheels and tires on it and get it registered. I bought the 125 with the headlight, added street tires and a taillight and got a license plate. WAY more stable on the road and you can take it anywhere legally! When I want to trail or dirt ride I just put the original tires back on and it’s right back to a dirt bike!

I'm totally in your camp having learned road bikes only. From my 20's to 50s now. You enjoy! So much fun to watch. Get some pads though 😊we don't wanna see you too beat up.

To fix your window you need to get a new pane of glass the same size. Then you chip out the old glaze and remove the triangle shims that old the glass in place. Then you take out the old glass. Pop in the new glass. And you put the shims back into place and put in some new window glaze. And paint to match your window. And you should be good to go on your window. I worked in Georgia near Atlanta and worked on some windows.

I had a 89 kx 80 and we had a lot of construction sites around and nobody cared if we rode there so we would make jumps on all the big dirt piles and we eventually made our own track. All my friends had dirt bikes too this was when I was in middle school back in Naperville IL

Way to show the local shop! Dirt Cheap has saved my booty plenty of times for spare parts on my kid's rides. Awesome! Braaaaaap!!!!

I was a bit crazy and would occasionally ride on the golf course ( which is great place to ride) however the golfers were a bit upset with me and I may have been chased by the cops a few times. Lol Love your enthusiasm, be safe!

I just got a KLX300 and I have to say - it's my favorite bike. Small bikes are rad.

You gonna need a hitch for your car to transport your dirt bikes. They have ramps to hold your bikes on the hitch Or Trade in for a Toyota Tacoma, ford rangers. Some kind of small truck

Wish I had a mini bike back in the day. Where I live, can't really ride one anywhere without the cops or someone freaking out.

Good point in the beginning. When I was a kid I rid bmx bike's and did ramps and crazy stunts. I remember trying to ride in tight circles on a bmx bike and I would have to move my butt over to one side to get a tight turn. I just got into riding motorcycles and all that stuff helped me.
