The Maasai. You meet them everywhere in Tanzania, working as security guards, parking attendants or other jobs, all in their traditional shukas. They're some of the most interesting people on the planet. It was time for me to go to their native lands in the north of the country, and see what life was really like for them. Little did I know, I would meet someone going for the world record in polygamy.
#sabbatical #maasai #arusha
Maybe we would even stumble upon a farmer's wild camp in African bush. Or at least some gongo.

I saw one thing they do is very unhealthy. At night-time they use a fire but there is no chimney and the house is constantly full of smoke. Breathing smoke every day is bad for the lungs, and even worse for the children. They have a very basic diet, most of the diet is dough balls made from corn starch I think, with a little green weeds. They also eat goat but rarely, and they drink cow milk. Just for reference average lifetime of African native is around 45 years, so they live much shorter lifespan than the west.

When I was a kid (15 years ago) I had a next door neighbor who lived in Africa (but also bought the house next door to me in America). She lived in Africa because it was her job to help kids who didn't have a family find a family. Alot of them would get adopted to people in new York (and I lived one state over). And she would come to my state a few times a year just to visit with them and their new family's for whatever reason. Anyway alot of African kids would come and sinse we lived right next door they would usually come over and play with us and jump on our trampoline or go swimming. I learned alot from there veiw of Africa and what happens to there families. It was usually sad stuff though. I'm not sure why I'm even telling this story. Just a unique experience I had just by living next door to a house that a lady bought just to visit with the families she brought together. I also forgot to mention the kids lived with her in Africa before she found them homes. She said she had 3 story home in Africa with alot of kids there. I'm guessing she had an orphanage. But she was from America and moved out there to do that. I learned so much from her too and it's definitely way different from what the media makes it out to be.

Awesome video to see how masai tribe stick to their culture. Inside hut is very dark . When the masai men told you they have hundred children it means the children living in that community are 100 of them...and the chief and masai men's look after the children in the community. That's their culture. But many years they tried to have their own school. So it might be that school is only for masai children which they try to improve their culture send language. That's interesting. Thanks for sharing this video is awesome.

Actually it is much fun. I remember when I used to leave the city to go to the village to visit my grandmother it used be more fun than in the city. Your money is in the cows. If you want something you sell your cow and buy it.

These people seem genuinely happy and filled with gratitude! The children are so sweet and cheerful! I would love to visit and communicate basically in their language! Appreciate how you try to learn the language of the people where ever you travel! I would do the same. Lived in Germany and I spoke the language. Lived in Central America and spoke the language of the people there as well...it only makes sense! I was told the key in speaking many languages is ROOT WORDS. Since many languages share same root words!

My friend you should be able to turn off the phone screen while using the flashlight - it makes it easier to see and to not accidentally touch a button, so you can hold it like a proper light 🔦❤

Every video I've seen of Tanzanians and Masaai, they seem like the nicest people ever but I thought the guys were being rude and trying to show off when they were around the tree talking about how many wives and kids the chief had etc. Great video though, thanks

Anyone noticed how these kids are not scared unlike the little girl in Uganda? The little child even run towards him Why is this not going viral? Why is no one saying "little children not scared of giant whiteman"?
