Yep, wife wouldn't let me. Was going to buy a guy's system that had everything, I mean everything, RO system, fish, reef lights, etc. Very reasonably priced. Oh well, not like I haven't done salt 20 years ago, but even then, a small 30 gallon was $1000 to start up, without RO. The coral alone is outrageously priced.

Your channel is the first one I started to really watch. You showed me everything I know about freshwater keeping. I ended up setting a saltwater tank around the same time you did. I have to say I don’t think I’ll go back to freshwater. And you are 100% right saltwater is not the boogie man in the closet like everyone thinks they are. I know your channel will always be a freshwater focused channel but I am loving the salty content thank you.

Finally, the updates about the "salty"! The sheer volume (240 gallons are almost 1,000 litres!) and the "live rocks" for sure help keeping it clean; nowadays, I think even making "synthetic" saltwater is easier - Just follow the instructions, they're usually printed on the box. Very nice tank, anyway. I'm on the freshwater side, but still have a reverse osmosis system: so many species benefit from "softer" waters, it still is a useful accessory even for "freshies".

We had several saltwater tanks when I was growing up, and we never had problems with them. It gets more complicated if the tank has high-end corals, which require tremendous stability and checking calcium and alkalinity. That's when you need a lot of the technology. Otherwise, you're right, saltwater tanks aren't as difficult as some people insist.

I ran FOWLR tanks for years. Some with predatory fish, and one sort of 'reef' with smaller fish and a few hardy corals, shrooms, and macroalgaes. Nothing but refugium sumps with built in skimmers. I even ran one that was HOB only. Treated them no differently than my freshwater tanks. Even used tap water because i had no RO unit way back then. The only thing that caused was a little green cyano on the sand which was easily plucked out. The only difference was mixing salt for water changes.

Prayers for baby Izzy. Prayers for you guys and her parents . I think sometimes as grandparents we love our grand babies “harder” than we do our children and that is what makes them so special. I know this is not easy but prayers for good outcomes and no issues with any other children they may have in the future
@marymendez4178
@marymendez4178 Год назад
To start I will say I'm so sorry this is happening, it's not easy to handle when they're 1st time parents. The best thing to do is, if the baby isn't crying because of pain, isn't vomiting, no fever and she's eating ok then leave it alone until she's older for surgery. Sometimes when babies are new born doctor's don't see abnormal things in their little bodies, just have faith and leave it to God. Pray everytime and don't distance yourself from God. I know because my son had a brain tumor at age 4. He got operated 3x and on the 4th tumor the doctor's said no more operations, I lost my child at age 9. Sickness doesn't come from God, be strong and look up to the creator. Many blessings to you and family.

Ok, first of all I have to say... You show an adorable baby like Izzy and I just forget everything You were just talking about John lol Second thing, she is such a sweet little girl, such a pretty baby. I'm so sorry that your daughter is having to go through this as a first time mom. Horrible not knowing exactly what's going on with your child, no matter what the age, that's so hard. Izzy sure didn't seem too phased there, so that's good. Lisa, I just wanted to be able to reach out and give you a hug while you were talking. You're obviously an awesome grandma/mom for going and be that extra support with them. I'll be saying some extra prayers for that sweet baby Izzy for her journey these next few weeks. Thinking of you all for sure.

I had a 240 gallon reef tank. Unfortunately, I had marine ick hit the tank and kill almost everything. I then ended up moving cross country and couldn't take the tank with me. After getting settled, I've gone back to tanks, but no salt at this point. They are beautiful and so cool, but the fish are relatively expensive. I do have a 110 gallon (large south american cichlids) that some day I may turn back to salt.

My son went through something similar as an infant. He wasnt keeping down all the formula, and he wasnt gaining any weight, so our neighbor, who was a nurse, checked him and mentioned pyloric stinosis as a possibility. Turns out thats what it was and had to have surgery at 3 weeks old. He is now 16, and he is 6'6" and about 400 pounds. Hes an ox. Doubt your little one will reach that size cuz mom and gma seem to be itty bitty, but she will bounce back fine. Just thought id share my personal experience on that with yall. Good luck, may the force be with you, and may the odds be ever in your favor. John will most likely get those references lol.😊
