I've been diagnosed with bpd for 14 years. After 5 years of SSD I finally have a hearing Monday. I've been devastated for years over it. I push through everday. It's a roller coaster... but my wife and kids are amazing.... you got this. Thank you for this....

My spouse has bpd, the beginning of our relationship was a bit rocky (doesn't help that I've got a plethora of issues myself) but once you get past the hump, the strongest relationship I've ever had with another human grew. Reptiles saved me from what I have, though now I have amassed a small militia of nile monitors, then the hordes of roaches I breed to feed them. Works out In an odd way, but hey long as it works out I'm happy. Edit: forgot to say, this is the only reptile person video she actually paid attention to, and she hung on every word. Damn near came to tears saying no one ever put it into the right words as you did here. Also, speaking from the spouse perspective- you are not a burden and never will be, it's just a different obstacle to overcome is all.

been watching you for awhile, you’ve inspired me to get my own whites tree frog! had to watch this as soon as I saw the notification, I have BPD as well (well we have the same combo actually) so I think it’s amazing you’re using your platform to spread awareness and advocate for mental health. especially considering there’s so much misinformation and stigma against BPD in particular. thank you so much for bringing positivity to mine and others lives ❣️

i’m recently struggling with losing a bunch of friends, substance use, never had a stable relationship. it’s hard to cope with such a serious disorder when it’s a disorder that severs support systems in your life. i hate that people in my life feel like they have to “walk on eggshells” around me. i hate that people in my life get frustrated with me for feeling alone even though they’re there for me but i literally can’t NOT feel alone and thrown away. i hope more awareness and treatment becomes available within the next few years because there’s a whole group of people who romanticize BPD and self diagnose after seeing 2-3 symptoms that match up and i feel like it’s so harmful for those who actually struggle with it. again thank you for talking about this!!!

HEY I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!!! i also have / had BPD, i do feel 24/7 at work full time lol i cry at work every month. but i personally don’t like to attach myself to labels bc i don’t like to limit myself. if anything over the years i’ve learned to really love myself for who i am, my intensity (passion), my black and white (i can feel more than 2 things at once, i’m cool asf), my impulsivity (wanting to fill a void or react), etc. my biggest thing was learning to not be so hard on myself when looking inwards and not react when i feel any of these, asking “why”, interrupting the negative narrative in my head, etc. and it’s helped soo much. emotions just wanna have space to be felt. we react to things subconsciously, on repeat, just gotta do our best to stop the pattern. anyway you’re doing fkn great!!!! your emotional awareness is awesome and you will for sure feel better soon bc u wanna keep pushing forward. it’s hard but u got thissss, ur animals love u!! and we love ur content!

When I was diagnosed with BPD and actually learned what it was, I was like "holy sh*t, this is me to a T!" For me it was a huge relief to finally get correctly diagnosed so I could find good information on how to cope with it. I'd also been wrongly diagnosed throughout my whole teenage years and tried so many useless medications. BPD is seriously underdiagnosed and gets a huge negative stigma that I think is uncalled for. I'm so glad you shared on this topic!

Love, me too. It's alright. Don't give up! I am 53 and was diagnosed with SAD, Severe ADHD, clinical depression, BPD and PTSD! I'm a walking psych encyclopedia of diagnoses. Also recovering meth addict, 20+ yrs clean. You are one of my favorite heros! I definitely look up to you. Oh yeah bi-polar also. After years of therapy and many medications, I'm stable and doing okay. Even my meds have been cut down to a manageable level. Like have said before, stop by Louisville, we'll hang! Love this video. Will touch a lot of ppl and give us hope. Have such mad respect for you and much love. Is going to be alright. We've so much in common. I'm a stuffer too with any negative emotions. Then blow up at some innocent person over nothing. Gosh, would love to talk one on one with you one day. You are blessed to have Renee, I think having a help mate would be so awesome. I'm alone in my struggle and have very few close friends. I tend to isolate a lot. Kudos to you for owning your part in unfortunate circumstances. Don't give up. Acknowledging your part is the biggest part of the battle!! You are AWESOME!

i relate to living for my animals. When i've lost them, my first bearded dragon recently, I've had no reason to wake up in the morning or take care of myself. The days they were in my life, through all my own numbness, were suddenly not as bad as i thought they were. So... "Making it" and "doing it" are words that are both good goals, and I completely agree, but i have to remind that we shouldn't live solely for tomorrow or we risk passing up making good memories with those we love, and end up regretting what we did not do. We should live for today, and pay attention to that day, and when that day makes us feel things we don't want to feel, we can hold on to that goal we have for tomorrow, or to the good things that have come before. So that we can live to see the sunrise tomorrow. Took alot of courage to make this video. Appreciate you being real. Do something good for yourself, man.

I am a NP who works in substance abuse medicine and mental health. Recognizing the characteristics of any personality disorder is important. Remember you are an intelligent person you can change how you deal with life. Stay self aware and make small changes. Some people are never career settled, there is nothing wrong with that. Learn on! Lastly, sometimes we never find out why we are here. Do the best you can and enjoy. Your a good person, accept that.

This was quite brave and enlightening to alot of your fan family. To be completely honest and transparent every human has some form of mental illness. Nowadays it's hugely over diagnosed and almost forced on people for excuses for not so attractive behaviors. Your very sweet and I hope you work on self deprecated comments as humor because you have alot to offer. I do the same thinking that if I say horrible shit about myself than it takes other people's power away to hurt me with their words and opinions. I'm truly proud to be a part of your community and I thank you for sharing this very vulnerable look at the actual Dakota. 💖

Also it's really cool that I'm seeing how you are relating to your reptiles and it definitely explains to me why you chose tokays which are a very tricky gecko to get to trust and get to tolerate our presence. These last couple years have been intense and a struggle for the whole world and the fact that we're emerging from the fog finally says so much about our character and our ability to live through shit storms. I don't know if BPD will ever be totally understood because everyone of us have unique and completely different symptoms and ways that we have dealt with ourselves through our lives and you've showed that cold blooded creatures are just as good support animals as the mammals that people generally use. This is incredible growth and momentum for others to look inward and heal. Dakota your worth being loved and I promise that if you find a way to forgive yourself for reactions and behaviors that you had no understanding of you'll see the deep and interesting person we all watch and enjoy learning from. BPD isn't some defect that your loved ones have to put up with, it's the part of you that has made you empathetic and able to see through some real dark shadows that we create ourselves. Awareness is key and your now able to understand yourself alot more and use that as an ability not a weakness. You have to be a hella strong fighter to work on yourself from the inside.

Thank you for sharing your journey and your struggles. My heart is breaking for you. My ex-boyfriend has BPD so I understand but I understand from a distance and from a different perspective. In my research from when we were together I came across quite a bit of promising literature/studies/and Dr.'s who recommend the ketogenic and carnivore way of eating to ameliorate symptoms and ease mental distress. I'm not sure if I can link articles or videos here but a google search of Dr. Georgia Ede, Dr. Ken Berry, Dr. Dom D'Agostino, Dr. Jordan Peterson, Mikhaila Peterson, Carnivore and mental health, ketones and mental health will bring up a wealth of information and a possible avenue that might help. I've been watching your videos for a few years and have always loved your content and sense of humor. Thank you for being vulnerable.

Mad props for making this video and being so raw about BPD. I've had a very similar experience with getting diagnosed, as well as symptoms. It is very much a lonely personal hell that we live in. I feel this video super hard. As soon as you said, "there's no cure for it", I lost it. I've had this same breakdown with my fiance several times, with much less composure than you showed here. Much respect, man. Keep fighting, and keep thriving off your empathy. BIMPSON.

As someone with mental illness myself I really respect that you had the strength to make this video. Sometimes it's so hard to deal with the simplest things and I'm so grateful that I have my animals to keep me around. And i really get what you were saying about people acting like they'd actually want to deal with mental illness, especially when they glamorize it on TV now. It's so frustrating when you know difficult it really is and it's pure hell much of the time. Stay strong and keep making your excellent videos!

This is an amazing video, not because you have BPD but because it helps others really understand the condition. Mental health remains still too much of a taboo topic which leads to symptoms being mischaracterised, which in turn scares people. This video made my heart hurt and sing at the same time because you describe things so openly and honestly, you don’t pussyfoot around the low points you have to go through. You are very right to bring up the dangers of self diagnosis and the failure of psychiatrists and psychologists to listen to people, to ensure they get the correct diagnosis. I hope that this video helps others who come into your life in the future understand that your actions regarding relationships are guarded and often end in pushing people away is part of your condition and not personal. So that you get to build a bigger friend group, as its easier to accept actions which are not done because your a jerk but because your brain chemistry is f’d up. I do though want you to know you are not a burden, far from it, your struggling from a illness. Also hold on to this most fail at managing or helping their BPD as they refuse to try and help themselves, this video shows you are determined to work on yourself to try and address what you are going through. These are really good signs that you can work to a point where you can control the worst of it. It is also fabulous that you have found a way to channel some of the negativity back into something positive like your animals and that your wonderful lady is prepared to steer you back in the right direction. A diagnosis and a explanation of why we are the way we are is a fabulous start to working towards a more stable future and you have shown in this video that you are able to reconcile some of your past with the diagnosis. Thank you for sharing a brutally honest picture of the condition and being open with the world. Keep working on that therapy no matter how stupid it feels at time (and it will) as things will gradually click and make sense, try not to put blame on yourself for past actions, they were caused predominantly by not knowing your condition and being able to step back and say hang on, which you are now doing. I can’t say it will be easy and it will not be smooth sailing but you are making all the right steps to making it better than it has been. There is no cure as you said but there is ways to help once accepting you need it, so keep at it. This video as I said is awesome as it’s you being brutally honest and that will help others not only understand your condition but those struggling with BPD as just knowing you’re not alone going through this really helps. I wish you and your beautiful wife a fabulous future. I am so glad RU-vid recommended your lizard snuggling goes wrong video to me, and hope the finger is healing well. Thank you

Thank you for this. I have PTSD and anxiety. But the the part I relate to the most is with family. I also have a genetic condition called ehlers-danlos syndrome. And it's hard to relate or even convince the family that I really have something truly wrong or it's not something fixed by a pill. I don't have that luxury. Sometimes that means leaving people behind if they can't understand your reality.

I don't personally suffer from a diagnosed mental disorder, but my GF certainly does- it is a hard life. It is easy to get frustrated with people who suffer from mental disorders because it just doesn't make sense to those of us who don't have them. I can't imagine how awful it is to live with them... 100% agree about the faking disorders trend I've seen. I've personally watched mental health nearly destroy my gf's life and currently cripple her to the point where it's really hard for her to do things she loves now. All I can try to do is be supportive, and that's what people have to be with those who have mental disorders. Supportive, patient, and understanding. It is a whole lot. My gf got diagnosed with Autism after doing some looking up, research, & getting tested by a doctor. Now we have to do it for the other possible ones.

Eyyy BIMPSON. I remember the other video you made about BPD a while ago and I had been wondering if you would do another one. I think it's really important to show mental illness in the hobby, and in...what's ultimately a professional setting, since this is your career. I have several diagnosed mental illnesses myself (clinical depression, GAD, type 2 bipolar) and some which I strongly suspect but don't have the money to confirm. A lot of times, I feel like I set lofty goals and just fuck it up, or that I don't deserve friends or my partner, or animals, or that I'll never be able to have enough money to survive because I'm just mentally not right, or that everyone is constantly disappointed in me... It's really important to see other people out there that struggle with those kind of thoughts, even if they're hard to hear and even harder to say out loud.

Faking illnesses is great for grifters and for making money off of illness. It's truly sick. So I'm not surprised it something on tiktok, a place filled with grifters and manipulators. On a more positive note, I've jumped around hobby to hobby and have issue finding what really keeps me going. Music and guitars have been helping me stay grounded and having good relationships with friends and family. And btw, we don't personally know each other but I find you to be a cool dude. Very similar story. As a child my mother was told I couldn't be ADHD, "only boys get that". So many mental illness issues due to just overly narrow criteria. Also, I wasn't diagnosed as autistic until my 30s because 1) not a boy 2) "not difficult to deal with". So yeah, growing because alienated and misunderstood but having no idea why... Severe depression, and cPTSD from CEN. Wanted to also just say I feel you. I had friend that was diagnosed, and medicated for bipolar. Looking back I'm sure it was missed diagnosed BPD. Lack of understanding, even from professionals left her pretty isolated.

BIMPSOM Holding my ball pythons help alot with my anxiety, they are super calming. My other animals keep me going! And well..my cat is a good cuddler and lays on me which, to me, is nice. Unfortunately however my dog pisses me off just looking at him (please don't come for me)
